When viewing a folder with the Thumbnail view, WindowsXP creates a thumbs.db file. This is a cache of the current pictures in that directory. If you want to turn this feature off and save a little disk space Start the Windows Explorer Go to Tools / Folder Options / View In the first section under Files and Folders, check Do not cache thumbnails Now you can search for the thumbs.db file on your computer and remove them. No more should be created.

A big thumbs down is given to the Titans for treating Vince Young like he's Tom Brady. Pre-Randy Moss, Tom Brady proved that you could put him out there with any group of borderline-Arena league wide receivers, and he could still excel. For some reason, the Titans refuse to accept that this isn't the case with Vince Young.
They had their pick of any receiver they wanted in

Where is everybody?A very big disappointment for Richard Barnbrook BNP mayoral candidate, this morning. After going to all the expense of hiring armour, horse and a green fluffy dragon suit, at 11.00am the man who hopes to get elected to the London Assembly on 1 May got on his horse (well pony) and led a parade – or rather a group that struggled to get into double figures – from the Broadway Theatre in Barking, down East Street and terminating at Barking Park.It was all over in 30 minutes, no masses of adoring flag waving crowds, in fact nobody at all other than the eight police officers on bikes with their Inspector.Dicky was not a happy bunny and was last seen heading for the Capt Cook to drown his sorrows. We wonder whether he has to declare the costs of this farce on his election e

The guys' pizzas − heavy on the meatTo summarize the pizza and a movie party:Food: goodCompany: goodParty planning: badMovie: very loud!Because of the water situation (it didn't come back until about 3 p.m.), I was horribly behind schedule. But that worked out okay because half of our guests were almost three hours late. I was glad! I kept the first guests satisfied with veggies and ranch dip while I continued preparing the pizza ingredients.Pizzas were a great idea! They loved them and it was so much fun. Also, since only a few pizzas were prepared and baked at a time, there was less pressure on me, hostess, cook, dish washer, and waitress, to get everything ready and serve it all at once. The breakfast room table was big enough (and in close proximity to the television) that we could r
Four times a week I report for work in one of Ithaca College's computer labs. We get hated on when things break, and we're expected to be tech-geniuses, but one thing we do know a lot about is paper. We try and save where we can by making all the computers default to double sided printing and putting up our policies about one final copy or multiple PowerPoint slides per page. But in the end it's no surprise that no one listens.I have come to terms with the fact that every shift I've had to throw at least a ream of unclaimed print-outs into the recycling bin. Where is this rant going you may ask? Well here at IC we use Staples to provide our 20 lbs. boxes of paper and two weeks ago Staples discontinued doing business with Asian Pulp & Paper due to "environmental concerns." This comes af

I ran by this place on my way home on Friday, and I had heard from some co-workers that it was a good place. The prices were far better than the "Haggenese" you can buy at Haggen's grocery store here in Bellingham, and the food was a lot better. We tried: Pineapple Chicken, Sweet N Sour Pork, Mongolian Beef, and Teriyaki Chicken. I'm a bit tired of the sweet, but the Pineapple Chicken was not as overbearing with the sweetness as the Sweet N Sour Pork was...but you have to expect that. The Mongolian Beef was delicious, I couldn't really eat it because it was VERY spicy, but my husband had wanted it so I bought some for him (we shared our entrees over the course of the last two nights). The Teriyaki Chicken was my daughter's favorite.I plan on trying their BBQ next. They have so many differ
I only just realized that I've been super nice lately, and there's been no Thumbs Down posts in ages. So I had a little hunt around, and found this:Golfer, Frank Lickliter welcomed twin boys, Storm and Steele.-lickliter.htmlIt seems that parents of twins often seem to get it wrong.Grade: C-Comments: There are three major problems with these names.Problem one: For twins, they're too similar. Twins already have issues with identity and being similar, and giving them similar names just exacerbates this. It also leads to problems when calling a name across the house and neither child quite catching which one is being called.Problem two: They're so unusual that they will lead to teasing and don't give the child room to grow in whatever field they want. For example, can you really imagine withou

We hit a vegetarian Indian for lunch, but once we got past the access issue, we sat at a table in the small crowded restaurant and tied Smudge’s lead to a chair leg. For the entire meal, he stayed quietly under the table (good boy). Chutneys provides an all-you-can-eat buffet for about £6 and it is great value. A notice on the wall made me laugh - “One plate each please”. The food was good, very filling, and there was lots to choose from. There were about six different curries and chutneys - they even had apple chutney and lemon chutney which was delightful. For pudding I had Gulaab Jamun (very sweet dough balls, like mini doughnuts) with rice pudding and fruit. We had Tikka beer and Kingfisher beer - the Tikka had quite a striking taste to it but the Kingfisher was more mellow. They sell organic red wine at only £8.95 a bottle. The atmosphere is
I am still waiting for my site’s control panel to be accessible again. It was up when I checked before work, but I didn’t have the time to do the deed.
Tomorrow will be my last day of work for the year. Holiday pay and a three-day department shutdown will give me an eleven-day vacation.
I’d like to use this much-needed break to my advantage, but I don’t see that happening. I see myself being bored (for once), staying up too late and sleeping in.
A tentative plan is to visit family in Corpus with my mom and my bro. I hope that goes through. I also plan on catching up on some reading. I have this habit of buying books and letting them sit around for months and months before I read them (with the exception of comics of course).
Work will probably be painfully slow and unproductive tomorrow. Eight more hours to go. Tonight, I will check my host’s neglect and hopefully get this site moved later tonight. I’m planning for 12/21 ’cause the date’s

The survey will petition Pleasanton homeowners to see if the amount of parcel tax homeowners would be comfortable with.

There's been a few celebrity babies born lately, but none that have been that remarkable, either positive or negative. But I saw this a few days ago and fell in love!http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/12/chris-odonnell.htmlActor Chris O'Donnell wife gave birth to a baby girl, Maeve Frances.Grade: A +Comments: Two very sweet, charming and not overly common names added together to make a very beautiful name. I love it! (Looking at there other children's names Lily, Christopher "Chip", Charles "Charlie" and Finley I fell in love all over again. Gorgeous names.)What to work on for next time: Not sure if there'll be a next time for these two, considering they now have 5! But clearly, nothing. They're doing everything right!
I was really looking forward to our christmas party as we had booked a room in a Thai restaurant and Thai is one of my favourite cuisines. Busaba Eathai is a chain created by Alan Yau, they guy behind Wagamama’s, the fantastic Japanese ramen noodle resaurants. There are usually long queues outside and you’re not able to make reservations. So we booked their private room for our christmas party. The ambience is nice, dark and moody with dim lighting and dark woods. They have Wagamama-style communal benches and tables, so it’s not intimate-dinner-for-two style, you can’t lean back in your chair, it’s busy, it’s more like a factory, and you’re sharing your table with strangers. This means it’s hard to have a decent conversation without distraction and people seem to be shouting at each other, so the private room suited me much better as it was quieter, with just one long table which seated up to 25.
I saw the floors were slate, and the wal
This restaurant has a varied menu which boasts tasty Italian dishes such as pasta and pizza with toppings of your choice. This branch of ASK also offers a takeaway service.
We had trouble the moment we walked in.
- No dogs!
- He’s an assistance dog.
- No sorry, we can’t allow dogs in here.
- Can I speak to the manager please.
The manager came out and he was perfectly happy to let us come in and eat. Oh, the embarrassment, though! We were shown to a table right at the back, away from all the other customers, which suited me fine as it was a little quieter there. Things got better as the waiter asked if Smudge would like some water and brought over a bowl, and gave him a few pats on the head throughout our meal.
The selection of food wasn’t great - just pizza and pasta, without any main meat or fish dishes and a single choice of beer. We had garlic bread to start which was ok, just like those in Poppadom Express. The mains were OK but just like “best-of” r

Okay... this is late... really, really late, but it's finals week and, well... here you are.Once again, I was in Comp and bored out of my mind. My Prof was going over something about the next essay or something, but I couldn't bring myself to pay attention. He constantly just rambles on about the same things, sort of like I do, I suppose, but I like to think I'm more interesting. I saw the following on The Colbert Report a while ago, I have no idea when the episode aired because it was recorded on my DVR, but apparently Al Gore is cuter than Bitsy. War! According to Washington Monthly, the SEC sucks. Of course, I always knew this about the SEC and the south in general, but it's nice to be vindicated. Score one for the Midwest! Also, The M Zone on the awesome speed and competition of SEC football. Knowing my readership, you've heard of Measure for Measure, but I certainly hadn't before I read the thing. It's not a bad play, I suppose, but not much really happens.
A group of us and two Hearing Dogs (Smudge and Harry) descended upon Lorenzo in Crystal Palace for a home cooked Italian meal. This restaurant is on the High Street and close to the tube station, so it’s easy to get to.
This restaurant looks really small from the outside but there are three floors. It looked good n busy! I was wondering how noisy this place is going to be … am I going to enjoy this night out as none of my friends in this group can sign. I can’t relax if I am struggling to lip read people against a constant din, it’s really hard work. We were shown to a large table in the corner downstairs and were promptly attended to by a polite and efficient waiter, who brought us wine. The place began to fill up with families and couples, it had a friendly bustle and the waiting staff were attentive.
The starters and main course arrived quickly, we didn’t feel we were left waiting long for each course. For a starter I had Hot Spinach Bake - a huge
I went to see a fashion exhibition at the V&A museum in South Kensington. This glamorous exhibition focuses on Parisian and British couture between 1947-1957, a decade that Christian Dior described as the "Golden Age' of fashion. On display are stunning gowns and exquisite tailoring from designers such as Balenciaga, Norman Hartnell, Balmain and Givenchy, and Dior.
Dior's launch of the "New Look' for his first collection in 1947 shocked and delighted the fashion world, creating a new style that symbolised femininity. The full skirts and hour-glass silhouettes were considered highly decadent, synonymous with luxury, opulence and prosperity, following the austerity of the war years.
The exhibition explores the creation of couture design from the post war era to the global success of the major fashion brands by the late 1950s, at which point fashion began to change, influenced by the "youth-quake' of the early 60s. The skill and craftsmanship of haute couture is show,
I love indie flicks, in fact, I'm always searching for the newest, coolest and most obscure indie flicks around. And I have to say, thank god for Netflix because I have a plethora of indie films at my very disposal. One of the great new features of Netflix is the ability to watch live, streaming films right on your computer (in addition to getting them in the mail). And being the techie that I am, I then hook my laptop up to my TV and voila! I have over 5,000 movies and TV shows at my fingertips. Now that I think of it, I'm surprised I ever leave my house at all.I was browsing through the "instant-play" selections on Netflix when I came across "Puccini for Beginners" which caught my eye. I grabbed my girlfriend, a big old bag of kettle korn and snuggled up for another movie-watching extravaganza.Puccini for Beginners is about New York writer and opera addict Allegra (Elizabeth Reaser, The Family Stone) who loves her girlfriend Samantha (Julianne Nicholson, Kinsey), but can't co
After a bit of negativity I thought it might be time to have a positive post. So I had a look around to find one that was nice, so without further ado, singer Heather Payne welcomed daughter Ava Corinne.http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/11/heather-payne-w.htmlGrade: A -Comments: Both Ava and Corinne are lovely names. Both a timeless, classic and feminine names which sound elegant when paired together. Few marks off for Ava being so common, and for Corrine ending in an "N" sound when her last name also does. Apart from that, two lovely names which sound very pretty together. What to work on for next time: Choosing names which aren't so trendy, and making sure that names don't end in the same sound.
Singer and actor Joey McIntyre has welcomed a baby son, Griffin Thomashttp://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/11/joey-mcintyre.htmlGrade: A+Comments: This is a perfect example of an unusual name being used correctly. The name is unusual, without being crazy, and fits as a name. They've also paired the unusual name with a traditional name "Thomas," so that if Griffin grows up to be a bland accountant with a wife and 1.5 kids he can go by Thomas without much difficulty. Not only that, but the middle "M" sound in Thomas flows well with the starting "M" sound in his surname, McIntyreWhat to work on for next time: Nothing!!

recently, the cover of radiohead’s “in rainbows” was released. unfortunately, no album artwork ever graced our downloaded zip file but now its nice to have something official.
its been quite the experience enjoying this entire album, taking in what is new and combining all the emotions of love, chaos and uncertainty that comes with listening to your favorite band’s recent release. only radiohead could get away with placing their music online, having their faithful fans pay as they choose and placing us all into some type of pyschedelic and colorful daze.

Kevin O'Connor from Amazing race fame has welcomed triplets a few months ago, two boys and a girl, Brian Sean, Alexis Elaine and Colin James.http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/11/introducing-bri.htmlGrade: AComments: This names a really nice. I saw them and they made me smile. After all the trash we see in Baby Names these days, especially from celebrities, these names are like a breath of fresh air. I really love Alexis Elaine and Colin James. Colin especially is a really nice, uncommon name for a little boy. Very adorable! A few marks off for Brian's first and middle name both ending in N, but apart from that, all blue skies. What to work on for next time: Not much! Just making sure first and middle names don't end in the same letters.
Everywhere I look I see thumbs.db!
What the hell is it I hear you say? Well …. the short answer …. it’s a Bill Gates invention.
In short the Windows operating system produces this file when items in a folder are displayed as thumbnails (as opposed to tile, icon, list, or detail view). I wouldn’t be so put out by thumbs.db only for the fact that each and every thumbs.db file takes up valuable space on my hard drive.
The thumbs.db file is a database file. No harm is done by deleting thumbs.db files. There is no need to include them in your system backups. Whether you see these files or not is a function of your File Options settings. So get rid of them!!

If you've a Windows XP user and use hidden and super hidden files, then you must have encountered "Thumbs.db" file located in image or movie folders. It is usually a super hidden file located and placed in every folder which contains at least one image or movie file. It is a file which is automatically created in a folder with Movies or Pictures so that you can view their thumbnails without actually opening them. Thumbs.db is there so that you don't need to reload a thumbnail every time you browse that folder. Sad fact is, is Thumbs.db takes up about 2-5kb per file and if you edit a lot of stuff it's annoying to keep seeing them popping up all over your computer. So, if you have lot of images and movies collection, these little files on hard drive can take as much space as few GBs. Ouch! You can remove thumbs.db quite easily by following these steps: Go to Run. (Start->Run) Type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. Click OK and the Group Policy Editor wi
British Actors Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory welcomed their son: Gulliver.http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/11/actors-damian-l.htmlGrade: C +Comments: Gulliver. Huh? Out of all the names you could possible choose, they chose Gulliver? Huh? Gulliver is probably most well known from the stories, Gullivers Travels. Which was a SATIRE novel. It followed the adventure of Lemuel Gulliver. You know what Gulliver probably stood for? Gullible. And even if it doesn't, i'm sure there'll be plenty of people calling him Gullible Gulliver over the years. Poor kid. What will they call him for short? Gull? Gull is a pesky bird which lives on beaches and tries to steal food. They really thought about that one, didn't they.(On an off-topic note, their daughter is named Manon?? Manon??? Who names their little girl something that start with "Man"??? I understand there are names like Manuela, but they have a pretty feminine "ella" sound at the end. Thats just terrible. These people are serial offen
Christian singer Jaci Velasquez welcomed her baby son: Zealand David.http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/11/jaci-velasquez.htmlGrade: C+Comments: Whoa. This takes naming children after places to a whole new level. Zealand?? What? I know people are calling their kids Brooklyn, Adelaide and Sydney, but Zealand? What the? And after choosing a very crazy first name, you pair it with David? One of the most plainest names for boys? Jeez. Poor kid. Thats like naming your child Treminia Jessica. It just doesn't work.. Furthermore, we've got some real bad sound patterning rules being broken here. The ending "D" sound in Zealand, and the starting "D" sound in David, run into each other. And because both names end in "D" it stops it from flowing nicely. What to work on for next time: Thinking more carefully about "unique" names after countries, pairing names more appropriately and sorting out sound patterns so names flow better.
Actress Milla Jovovich has recently welcomed her daughter Ever Gabo.http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/11/milla-jovovich-.htmlGrade: C +Comments: As often seen, celebrity Milla has tried to come up with a 'cool' and 'unusual' name for her new daughter. Virtue names are increasingly popular lately, and while i'm not totally against them they have to be appropriate (i'll post more on this later). The name Ever is cute, but doesn't really work in this context and would probably be a lot sweeter as a middle name. Speaking of middle names Gabo??? What kind of middle name is that? Here in Australia people call Garbage men Garbo's which is pronounced the same way, what a terrible thing to name your daughter. I know sometimes people use maiden names in their history to name their children but this is highly innapropriate (more posts on this at a later date, too.)What to work on for next time: Seriously considering with virtue names are working (they're hard to place), and not choosi
http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/10/garcelle-beau-1.htmlActress Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon welcomed twin boys Jax Joseph and Jaid Thomas.Grade: DComments: Wow, two chances, and still no results. Maybe she should have had triplets so at least there would be a chance of third time lucky. Jax is a terrible mis-spelling which may look trendy now but will look idiotic when he's a 60 year old grandpa. There are many subtle ways of using sound patterns in your child names, but alliteration (using two names starting with the same letter) is so tacky. Even worse is both the boys names start with J. Thats just cruel. (I'll give the topic of twins names later on.) And Jaid?? Are you kidding? Firstly its spelled retarded. And secondly, its a boy... some might thing its cute to give girls "unisex" and "tomboy" names but you want a girly son?? (More talk on unisex names, later, also). Poor kids. I wish they were named Jack, Joseph or Thomas. What to work on for next time: Properly spellings of nam
http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/11/nancy-grace-wel.htmlNancy Grace of CNN anchorwoman and lawyer fame has given birth to a set of twins, girl and boy.Names: John David and Lucy ElizabethGrade: A -Comments: Names which aren't crazily popular or trying to make her cool as she is a 'celebrity'. Both well thought out names named after special people in her life. Lucy and Elizabeth are adorable names, very sweet on a girl.Things to work on for next time: John David is teetering in boring. Not as common on babies now, and a big improvement on the too common Landon and Brandons but still. A little bland. As said earlier, Lucy and Elizabeth are lovely names but the sound patterns on them muck up a little. The ending "E" sound in Lucy and the starting "E" sound in Elizabeth run into each other. Not a MAJOR problem since they are different "E" sounds.

I watched No Mercy last night, the WWE pay-per-view and I just had to make a post here about it as it was pretty incredible. A long time has passed since I watched a good enough pay-per-view by the WWE and this was a hell of a night. After John Cena's serious pectoral muscle injury, the WWE was left without that one main man to carry the RAW faction. It was quite interesting that Randy Orton was crowned the new WWE champion but he also had to defend the title. The crowd was screaming for Chris Jericho as there are rumors he is in talks with both the WWE and TNA for a possible return. Leaving that aside, Triple H did step up and he definitely held the entire pay-per-view. He had 3 matches and lost the last one after an incredible physical presence. There is no doubt that HHH is a great competitor and a great physical specimen but I did not really think he would be able to compete three times to the level he did last night. He is better than ever and I must say I was incredibly surprise
Have you ever found something useful on my gardening blog? Maybe the answer on how to do something or information on a plant or seed or just really liked one of my photographs. Perhaps after that particular visit you wished you could buy me a cup of coffee...well... I don't drink coffee but I do believe in charity.Even if you answered and emphatic "NO" to the question above continue reading. :)DonorsChoose.org has recently come to my attention and I've really become enamored with the concept. Teachers sign up and ask for funding for various school projects that the school can't afford to pay for. Average people like you or I are given the opportunity to become philanthropists and make tax-deductible donations to their projects. Growing up I remember how my teachers would sometimes have to buy school supplies or various items out of their own pockets and it doesn't seem like times have changed much.On DonorsChoose.org you can choose to fully or partially fund a project in a wide ran
“Human lives are now passing on and on, filth over filth, bent, broken, diseased, distressed, disheartened. To ennoble these lives and to make the human heritage worth while, I have come.” (Sathya Sai Speaks Voume X, page 136.)
COMMENT: Another “sublime statement” by Sai Baba, if a wee bit conceited perhaps?
“My Word will never fail; it must happen as I will.” (Sathya Sai Speaks Voume 1, page 198)
“There is no one who can change My course or affect My conduct to the slightest extent. I am Master of all.” (Sathya Sai Speaks Voume 1, page 191)COMMENT: But his conduct has been affected by the massive world-wide allegations of sexual abuse, which no one can bring to court in India due to his devotees being in government and controlling the judiciary… a massive disgrace to India! La Terra Fina Chunky Artichoke and Jalapeno Dip
On my last three trips to Costco I've looked at this dip in the refrigerator section and my mouth would almost water with the thought of jalapeno's and artichokes in my favorite cream cheese dip base. Yum! I finally gave in and parted with the $8 to buy the dip.
What a mistake. I think when this dip is originally made and brand new at the
Mitt Romney says that anyone competing against him will need to raise 20 million dollars. Is that so, "Mr. Money Bags?" Who is America going to listen to, you with K Street and Wall Street, or with someone else who actually knows how the common man experiences on a daily basis and speaks to them on their level, like Mike Huckabee (for instance). Your arrogance is unacceptable Mr. Romney!
This evening I stopped of at the pharmacy to pick up my prescription refill for my anti-nausea meds. Yes, the medication that will likely maim and destroy the child I'm carrying. Since I went through the drive-through I had to use the little box to pass stuff back and forth. For some reason those boxes make mer nervous. I think it's because the first time I ever tried to use one was at the bank and I didn't know that the teller opened them from the inside so I pulled up and tried to pull on the box to open it and the teller yelled at me and he was a really hot guy and I was mortified and I didn't use the drive-through for like 8 months after that.Aaaaaanyway. So I pull up to the window and the pharmacist opens the little box for me. I go to stick the prescription in and before I have have my hand halfway out he slams the box shut. I yelped a little bit. A moment later he opens the box again and sends out a little slip for me to sign saying I got the meds. I sign it and put
You know, I’ve always preferred Luvs diapers. I used them with Kayley, way back in the day when they still were plastic on the outside, before all diapers were “cloth-like.” I kind of miss the crinkly-sounding diapers sometimes! I used them with all four of the littlest ones, too. I did find, though, that when we got into the BIG sizes, they tended to leak a little bit. I wrote about that here, when I was trying to find something to put on Pablo at night that wouldn’t leak all over his bed, or worse, explode little pee-scented gel beads all over his bed.
Currently, we’re using Huggies for Pablo and Mallory. The two of them are potty trained, but still pee during the night, so we actually don’t go through all that many. A big package lasts us awhile! They’re quite a bit more expensive than Luvs, not to mention, they don’t have BLUE from Blues Clues printed on them, which is a big bummer, but hey - I go with what works, y’know?

I don’t like most Filipino movies, at least not the ones they’ve shown in recent years. The quality of Filipino movies has seriously deteriorated. I don’t know if it’s because there aren’t a lot of good directors anymore, or if it’s because the new breed of actors is just made up of pretty faces that desperately lack talent, or if filmmakers have just run out of ideas for a good story. The bottomline is, Philippine cinema is not how it used to be. I can remember a time when I looked forward to watching the newest Filipino film. Bagets, Bituing Walang Ningning, Pinulot ka lang sa Lupa, Hihintayin Kita sa Langit, Itanong mo sa Buwan, and Oro, Plata, Mata were among my favorites. Lino Brocka, Peque Gallaga, and Ismael Bernal were among the best of the best directors. If you are Filipino and you were a kid in the 80’s and the early 90’s, then you know what I’m talking about. I was in grade school during the 80’s, and in high sch
You’d have to be blind (or not addicted to the Internet) to have missed the story going around this week about the man who surgically altered his thumbs to be able to operate his iPhone better. Quite a few sites seemed to take it seriously. But the originators have now come out to say it was a joke.
Well, no one could fault you for thinking “maybe it could happen”. The Internet, and the world it talks about, is one strange place. But lately I’ve noticed the news feeds taking on a more drastic tone. It seems that anybody can say anything and have somebody believe them.
The iPhone thumbs story had a whiff of satire to it, for several reasons. The iPhone just came out and has had a massive amount of media frenzy around it. In these days of plastic surgery jobs and outrageous body mods, another story about somebody messing with their own design doesn’t raise an eyebrow. And remember the Boing Boing story about implanting a magnet in your finger to give

Keyboards on handheld devices and smartphones have often been debated in terms of how much work they actually let you get done. Tiny displays, limited functionality, itty-bitty keyboard buttons and now the iPhone's entirely virtual keyboard whose keys can be hard to hit for some people have given folks something to talk about. Taking matters to a level that I believe is unheard of in the technology world, however, 28-year-old Thomas Martel in Bonnie Brae (a Denver, CO neighborhood) decided to solve his large handed problem by surgically altering his thumbs to make it easier to use his iPhone.Through a procedure called "whittling" which the North Denver News described, an incision was made into each of Martel's thumbs. The bone was shaved down, muscles were realigned and his thumbnail was modified to help bring it all together. His new 'streamlined' thumbs may look out of place in relation to his other fingers, but Martel says all the time and frustration he'll save should make the
I wanted to show you the darling little locket I just got. Isn’t it cute? It’s so rare for me to get a picture of all five of my kids at once, looking cute, so when Courtney took those pictures of my kids a couple of months ago, I knew I wanted to do something special with one of them. I’m really happy with how this locket turned out. It’s from a company called Pictures on Gold. They have LOTS of photo jewelry available, from lockets to dog tags to bracelets to rings. It’s so cool, too - the photo is actually laser engraved inside the locket - and they did such a great job with the picture I sent them, too! They obviously had to cut it up a little and remove the background to make it work inside the heart-shaped locket, and they did so beautifully. I really couldn’t be happier with it. And I had my monogram engraved on the front, too. I really love it. I can’t wait to actually find my nice silver chain to put it on so I can wear it somewhere a
It’s official ! iPhone fanatics have a new chairman !! This guy took the “Think Different” Apple moto to a new level ! Check it out:
Thomas Martel, 28, of Bonnie Brae is a big guy. So he has a hard time using the features on ever-shrinking user interfaces on devices like his new iPhone. At least, he did, until he had his thumbs surgically altered in a revolutionary new surgical technique known as “whittling.”
“From my old Treo, to my Blackberry, to this new iPhone, I had a hard time hitting the right buttons, and I always lost those little styluses,” explains Martel. “Sure, the procedure was expensive, but when I think of all the time I save by being able to use modern handhelds so much faster, I really think the surgery will pay for itself in ten to fifteen years. And what it’s saving me in frustration - that’s priceless.”
“This is really, on the edge sort of stuff,” explains Dr. Robert Fox Spars, who worke

Head left towards the reception – the toilets are directly to the right through the door. What’s it like?Rangetsu has to be my favourite restaurant in Orlando itself. It has style and good food to boot. My advice is to sit at the Sushi bar and watch your meal being made, you’ll also be able to get the advice of the chef on what’s good that day. Still, if you take a table the variety of food you can order is greater and you’ll have a little more comfort.I’ve been here two or three times and never had the need to stop by the toilets. I wasn’t expecting much as the restaurant speaks for itself and guessed they didn’t need to put too much effort into the conveniences. I couldn’t have been more wrong. These toilets get a big thumbs up from Eyal, and I have to agree. Good quality tile back up the urinals, to give a comfy but stylish air. T
3J Workshop just successfully celebrated their third anniversary. This shirt company is owned by the Levite family and Ofer Oz, under the Johnny Was umbrella. Designer Victor Tanisaka wanted to create a traditional menswear stripe shirt with elaborate embroidery. The detail is extraordinarily as is the cut of these shirts. Star Magazine and OK Magazine recently featured Dina Lohan, Lindsay’s mom, wearing various 3J Workshop shirts. Nicole Kidman recently raved about her 3J Workshop shirts and was shown in US Weekly wearing one. 3J Workshop clothing is unique in their embroidery, style, and comfort. Definitely worth checking out, Shopbarbara.com is excited to present these fabulous new shirts.
As you can see from the counter on the left, my fatherhood was expected 4 days ago now so Mrs C and I are twiddling thumbs; waiting. Yes, just waiting for Junior to pop his head out and scream hello for the first time.
We’ve obviously been waiting the best part of 9 months for this day to come so waiting a few more days shouldn’t really be all that bad. But you get fixated on the due date:
“This is when we’re having a baby.”
So when the day comes and the baby doesn’t, it seems like a massive let down. You thought you were getting to the top of the roller coasters drop then they added a bit more track on and you’re still going up. And there’s only so long that you can hold you arms in the air and have a big grin on your face waiting for the rush before it gets a little tiresome.
Not to mention the “Have you had it yet?”s I keep getting from people at work. They’re just trying to be cheery and have something amusing to say
Do you ever sit staring at the blinking cursor of a search engine, not quite knowing what you’re looking for, let alone how to approach it?
A week or two ago I was looking for the name of an invention, but had no idea how to start searching for it. After asking a few people in the office, Carlos mentioned a new search engine he’d been toying around with.
Cha Cha is one of the so called “new breed” of search engines. Although the concept is not new, Cha Cha is the first big social search engine, and uses a combination of Boolean and human logic. One half of the site is your everyday search engine providing all you’d expect from an engine. The other half of the engine is manned by a collection of “Guides”, with whom you can chat live and logically explain your query.
As much as I like the idea, I’ve used the service three times now, and have yet to receive a conclusion on either of my searches. In all three cases I offered as much extra
This week’s picks are coming from Vancouver — I’m back from Kelowna, and I’ll chronicle my trip in an upcoming post. Enjoy the goodness of the InterWeb:
K-Yu Goes Beyond Robson
Not only is my boy Karl already writing sports for the Epoch Times and Winner Online, he’s now also writing for Beyond Robson. He’s a talented sports writer that keeps on racking up the bylines with each passing week. Checkout his stuff and drop a comment if you like what he’s cooking.
My Vacation House on Lake Okanagan
I recently returned from a week on Lake Okanagan and I have nothing but great things to say about the house I called home during my time there. It was about 5000 sq. ft (I’m guessing), slept 12 people, had a private dock, gym, games room/diner, 4 car garage, WI-FI, and was 20 minutes from Kelowna. If you’re ever planning a phat vacation up there, check out this place, and feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

This week’s picks of the week are coming to you from Lake Okanagan in Kelowna BC where I’m vacationing for the coming week with my in-laws. But no matter where I am, I’ll have the picks for you Sunday morning. Let’s go:
iPhone coming, but good luck finding one!
The Apple iPhone is upon us at 6pm on June 29th at AT&T retail stores, but the demand is going to far outstrip supply! Nevertheless, it’s a sweet must-have gadget. Steve Jobs has really hit a homerun, yet again, with this beauty.
I really applaud Apple for becoming an electronics company instead of just a computer factory. And it’s probably a good thing since they’ll never be able to compete with Microsoft and the Intel platform. Maybe that’s why they switched to Intel chips?
Regardless, this won’t be an iPod killer, but the cell phone market now has a formidable foe in Apple. The copycats will be marketing their iPhone wannabees soon enough, but like the iPod, there&rs
Overseas property professionals have been responding positively to the new International Developer Information Pack, or IDIP. The new resource aimed at consumers and agents alike can take the risk out of buying property abroad by checking the credentials of any overseas developer or development. This is in stark contrast to the UK's governments introduction of a Home Information Packs which have been met by confusion and disarray
Monday means it’s time for the Thumbs Up - Picks of the Week! This week I have a mixed bag of tricks: sports, the gaming industry, and a Spock wannabe.
NHL nets deal with Sling Media
Finally, the NHL is doing something positive for its fans! The league has agreed to allow Slingbox owners to use Clip + Sling, which save clips from recorded games and shares them on a Sling Media web portal. This agreement comes on the heels of the Major League Baseball snubbing of my favourite InterWeb recording device. This move by the NHL is likely part embracing technology and part desperation for exposure of any kind because Versus ain’t no hat-trick.
Vancouver patient oozes green blood
It wasn’t Spock, but instead some dude was oozing green blood after hospital staff began operating on him for compartment syndrome after he fell asleep while kneeling (WTF?). I’ve fallen asleep in a few odd places, and in a few weird positions (i.e. face in my hands, slumped over a table), bu

Monday morning and you know what that means, yeah, back to the salt mine… and it’s time for the Thumbs Up - Picks of the Week: my weekly selection of the Internet’s finest offerings. So grab your morning coffee and bagel, and let’s go:
Google Maps Street View
When Google Maps came on the scene in 2005, it became an instant addiction for me (a map junkie from years past). There’s just something about maps and discovering new routes or how far things are. I don’t know, I just like ‘em. Anyways, Google Maps (and don’t get me started on Google Earth!) recently introducted Street View, which gives you a street level perspective of any street (currently limited to San Francisco, Las Vegas, Denver, Miami, and New York). It literally feels like you’re cruising down the road, checking out the shops and buildings, in a virtual way of course! I got a kick out of rolling through San Fran, seeing the hotel I stayed at, the originator of the I
The weeks seem to be going back faster and faster — not sure why though — so here’s this week’s Thumbs Up - Picks of the Week:
Partial nudity delays ‘Halo 2′ for Vista
Microsoft is calling this an “obscure content error” — is that similar to a wardrobe malfunction? I say who gives a shit! MS claims that “this file is not in the game itself, nor will someone who simply plays the game ever encounter it.” That tells me that the only people who could possibly find Master Chief in all his glory are the pervs and no-lifes that go digging for it, in which case I say let them see his new automatic rifle! How long until we see the questionable copies selling for a premium on Ebay? People need to relax about stupid shit like this, there are more important things in the world to worry about, like what outfit Paris will wear to prison and if Nicole or Britney will visit her in the slammer!

April (My manager): “Hey, can these two move to another table? They have some friends over there and want to sit next to them.”
Customer: “Yea, it’s nothing against you, it’s just that we…”
Me: “Dude, it’s alright. I’d do the same thing.”
(They leave)
Female Customer at table: “I thought that was very rude.”
Me: “Uh…huh?”
Wife: “The way you and your manager talked about them in front of them.”
Me: “I…uh…don’t get it?”
Wife: “And you gave them a thumbs up when they left. Very rude.”
Me: (Confused)
Wife: “And that LOOK you’re giving me! That’s rude TOO!”
Me: “Ma’am, I’m giving you the same look your husband is.”
Wife: “You can’t back me up just once, can you?”
Husband: “Check, please.”
Here we go with the second instalment of my picks of the week. This time I cover video conversion, the Canucks, and the strong Canadian buck. So let’s get this party started:
Free YouTube to PSP/iPod/PC converter
I came across vixy.net and thought to myself, now this is a useful little utility and it’s free! Chris likes free. I’ve given this site a real run-through by converting tons of YouTube clips into something my PSP can digest. The fact that there is no software or plugins to download is a real bonus as well. The online converter outputs AVI, MOV, MP4, MP3, or 3GP with literally just one click — it’s monkey friendly! It munches the video down a bit, but given that the stuff on YouTube is already crappy to begin with, you can’t tell the difference.
What really happened to Luongo at the start of Game 7’s OT?
I’m no doctor, but when I saw Danny Sabourin start the beginning of the biggest period in the Canucks season, while dressing r
I do a fair amount of web surfing each week and I always come across interesting stuff, some of which I blog about, but most of which gets forgotten in the virtual wind. So, I’m introducing my Thumbs Up - Picks of the Week — a regular effort every Monday to share at least a few of my most notable findings online. I can’t say for sure how many items will be picked each week, but I can guarantee it will be more than one. Otherwise, I’d have to call it the Pick of the Week, and that’s just not good value.
The picks could be individual blog posts, entire blogs, corporate or personal homepages, news stories, videos, audio, pictures… you get the idea. The key is that I bring you something that I think is of some value. You might think one (or all) of my picks are junk, and that’s okay. In that rare case, drop your picks into the Comments.

Comic Book Resources has posted an in-depth review of Spider-Man 3, and it definitely gets a pass! I've been reading a few other movie and comics sites bemoaning the film, but the positive reviews seem to be outweighing the negative ones by a fairly wide margin. Here's a bit...Writers Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi and Alvin Sargent as well as the entire cast and crew deserve all the respect and admiration they're sure to receive for "Spider-Man 3," as it is easily the most complex and deftly orchestrated superhero epic ever filmed.I viewed the film while sitting next to a very popular and acclaimed comic book writer, and he remarked to me that "Everything - the emotion, the action, the plot - everything was balanced so perfectly. It's the best of the three."While "3" doesn't contain a scene that even approaches the intensity of "2's" "He's just a kid" moment, the writer was correct: "3" is #1. Quibbles aside, the story made sense unto itself, was never confusing and wrapped up its unreso
He didn’t say anything like, “what seems to be the problem”. He just smiled cheerfully, shook my hand like he was my number one fan and sat in silence waiting for me to speak. He was more of the jolly older doctor variety who seemed suspiciously happy working for the NHS. Nevertheless he was very nice. I regret not rehearsing how to describe my problem from a standing start, but, after a few
Thank you all for your lovely support to the last post. I'm definitely going to miss some aspects of living in Ohio, but am beyond estatic over the idea of being reunited with my sisters. And who knows? We might actually be able to settle down out there with a house of our veryvery own. And then the curtainmaking shall know no bounds! In the meantime, I'm enjoying the springish weather and the wearing of flats. In other news: I was ill on Tuesday and at training yesterday, hence my lack of posting. I wasn't entirely idle, though, and will be sharing pictures (and recipes!) later for the books I acquired, cherry cheesecake brownies I baked, and scarf I finally finished.Oh! If you're in the mood for a lovely, quiet, but strangely compelling film, check out Gideon's Daughter. It has Emily Blunt (from The Devil Wears Prada) looking much healthier, but still lovely. Also, check out Gideon's office in the film; it's gooooorgeous. (I should have posted a still but I returned it too soon
Star Wars special effects to be added to the film with creator’s approval.
Post-production has been extended for Fanboys in order to add sound and special effects from the Star Wars films, according to a SCI FI Wire interview with the movie’s co-star Chris Marquette.
Star Wars creator George Lucas gave his consent for the additions after seeing an early cut of the comedy about a group of friends who drive across country to an advanced screening of Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace at Lucas’s Skywalker Ranch.
While the film’s principal photography was completed last year, Fanboy post-production process was extended to incorporate the effects and also to allow filmmaker Kevin Smith to shoot a cameo as well as to write and direct a scene in the movie. Smith, who directed Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, is an admitted Star Wars fan who often puts references to the scifi franchise in his own movies.
I have this to add to my previous post because I forgot to mention it.On the day my son was returning home from national service,my opinion on the national service board (LPNK) changed drastically. The way the LPNK officials were conducting things was a huge contrast to the first day when my son was reporting for duty. The number of officials deployed at the airport was increased and the most important difference was that they were dressed in official uniforms. The kids arriving at the airport were also in uniforms and could be easily picked out from other passengers travelling in the air craft with them. They were then ushered to a assembly corner and be counted. My confidence in the LPNK officials' professionism multiplied 100 folds immediately. How I wished it was done this way on the day when my son was boarding the plane, it would have saved us months of worrying.Sybas, LPNK!!!
