Maria Kormiltseva is now in hospital with serious injuries, while a murder investigation is underway. I see where the company that was supposed to purchase my employer lost $170,000,000 the last quarter of 2007 due to the bottom falling out of the credit market. Way back when I was studying to be a teacher, I read a very illuminating book by Alfie Kohn called, “Punished By Rewards”. It presented a logical description of how using rewards in the classroom really hurt children, and crushed the possibility of children being intrinsically motivated to learn and succeed. But frankly, by the time I got to be a parent, I forgot all about the book, the author and the concept. I had already realized that teaching wasn’t for me long ago, so I never gave Kohn another thought. That is, until he came out with another book specifically aimed at parents - Unconditional Parenting. The short answer is that the sound quality that the alarm clock CD can supply is far superior to that of the alarm clock radio. If there is one thing that I prefer about my alarm clock CD over my old alarm clock radio it is simply the sound quality.My old clock radio was great and I had good choice as to how I could use it but the quality of sound left much to be desired. The sound repetition was very trebly if you know what I mean. Like the sound you would make banging an empty tin can. Yes these gadgets will wake you up in the morning. But not with the full bass and full rounded tones of a good quality alarm clock CD. I am sure you would feel a lot better hearing the rich base sounds of your favorite piece of music over the scratchy hollow sound of the clock radio. There is really no credible choice between the two for me. Ever felt like throwing your cell phone because it frustrated the heck out of you?  Well next year go to the Savonlinna Festivals Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships in Finland.  You will win a prize if you throw it the furthest!  Last Saturday, the small Finnish village of Savonlinna hosted its annual Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships.  The competition had 32 male contestants to determine who can throw their cell phone the furthest.  There is also a freestyle competition where contestants juggle their phones in front of several judges.The winner of the cell phone throwing contest was Tommi Huotari who threw a cell phone 294 feet to take the gold prize.  The winner of the freestyle competition was a tie between 19 year old circus performer, Taco Cohen, who walked on his hands among other tricks and a young woman dressed as a cowgirl.

One of the quietly great college bands from the 1980s, Throwing Muses was formed in 1983 by guitarist/vocalist Kristin Hersh and her half-sister guitarist/vocalist Tanya Donelly with a few friends from high school. In 1986 the group's debut album was put out by the prestigious British label 4AD; Throwing Muses was the first American band to be released on that label.
