The Windows built-in feature of Grouping Similar Taskbar Buttons is nice, it helps you to remove clutter from your Taskbar. This feature groups your Similar Taskbar buttons in one when your Taskbar starts to get full it will start grouping applications together to conserve space. For Instance, If you have opened 10 or more Internet Explorer windows at a time, it will show you only one window in the Taskbar, if you have the grouping feature enabled. The only thing is that it only works when the Taskbar has filled up with the Windows. The CyberNet blog offers a customizable registry tweak that sets this feature to Group Similar Taskbar buttons with two or more windows open. Not Everyone use this feature, but for those people who use it this hack can be a real helper. You can download a

If you don't like the Taskbar to appear on your desktop all the time, you have probably set it to auto hide, through the taskbar properties box. And to make it appear, when you want it to, you then have to move your cursor to the bottom of the screen or to your taskbar area. But you can set it so, that it will appear ONLY when you press the Win Key.
Many of our readers asked us to help them put their Volume Mixer icon back to the notification area of their taskbar. Since this has been quite a common problem, we decided to publish this tutorial to help others having this issue.

Once in a while, Windows gets into a terrible state and the Taskbar and its Start menu disappear. This is because the software that manages these, called the Windows Explorer shell, has crashed. To deal with this, without logging off and on the computer, you have to end any existing sessions of Explorer and run a new one.To end existing Explorer sessions hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys and press the Delete key. On some versions of Windows this will open up the 'Windows Security' dialog box, if so then press the 'Task Manager' button; on other versions you will be taken straight to the 'Task Manager' program. To stop the Explorer shell, go to the 'Processes' page and look for 'explorer.exe'. You can sort the processes into alphabetical order by clicking on the Image Name heading. If you find an entry for 'explorer.exe', highlight it and click the End Process button and click Yes on the warning dialog. If you don't find an entry for it you can go straight to the next step.To
To the untrained eye, Ammunition’s Longhorn PC concepts last week might look nothing more than standard industrial design renders. But if you stared at it long enough as I did, you’d notice the Windows Longhorn screenshot on the monitor shows a taskbar is nothing like anything you’ve seen before. Since there’s no official name for it, I’ve dubbed it the “double-decker” taskbar.
I’ve finally been able to track down the screenshot in its original form.
The story behind this is that during the Longhorn development process, Microsoft designers were toying with the idea of integrating what we know now as the Windows Sidebar into the taskbar itself.
To accommodate this, the taskbar became separated into two-levels where the application switcher was moved to a transparent row by itself on top. This freed up an incredible amount of screen real-estate on the taskbar itself which then could house Sidebar Tiles (as it was known at the time because

The Windows Taskbar is usually to be found at the bottom of the screen, although it can be moved to any edge. It includes the 'Start menu' button, toolbars, a button for each application you are running, icons for other programs that are running, and the time.I will gloss over the 'Start menu' button, because all it does is open the start menu, and move straight on to the toolbars. Most versions of Windows will display the 'Quick Launch' toolbar by default. This toolbar will look something like this.To add a new button to this toolbar for a different application, simply drag and drop the application's shortcut to the toolbar. You can drag and drop from the Desktop or from the Start Menu. To delete a button, right-click on it and select 'Delete'.There are a number of other toolbars available, including one that will offer shortcuts to the 'Links' directory in your Internet Explorer favourites. The Windows Media Player taskbar is quite stylish, if you switch it on and minimise

Just open three or four Internet Explorer windows and you won't see them all in a row on your Taskbar, as you did in previous versions of Windows. By default, Windows XP groups similar items on one button. For example, if you have 3 Internet Explorer windows open, you'll see an Explorer item with the number 3 on it. Click it to see a pop-up list of those windows, then select the one you want.If you would like, Windows XP will display all open windows separately on the Taskbar. Right click a blank area of the Taskbar and select Properties. Under Taskbar Properties, deselect Group Similar Taskbar Buttons, then click OK.

Taskbar thumbnail preview in Windows Vista is a great new feature that allows you to quickly see a window without having to fully open it from the taskbar. Instead, you can just hover your mouse over the taskbar item and a small preview window will be displayed. I have been asked many times if it is possible customize the size of the preview thumbnails. Many have expressed the desire to have larger previews so they can better see the window. Finally, I have found a way. Visit Ave’s Vista Apps and download a free copy of Thumbnail Sizer. 2. Once you have the software extracted, run AveThumbnailSizer.exe to get started. 3. Move the sliders to adjust the preview window size. The changes are instant. Move your mouse over a minimized window to see the results of your change. 4. I bet you didn't know that you could move your taskbar if you wanted. Mostly I leave mine at the bottom, like the rest of the population, but occasionally I feel like going wild and have the taskbar at the top of my computer. The Taskbar is that thin bar at the bottom where you can see all your open programs, the start menu, the clock, etc. Now, in WinXP they made it very nice to move it. This is how:Right Click on the TaskbarClick, Lock the Taskbar, until there is no check thereLeft Click on the task bar and move it to where you want it...it will always rest up against an edge, so top, left or right. Then click, Lock the Taskbar, again and it won't move from that spot. These are the same instructions for Windows 98, ME, 2k, only you don't have to unlock the taskbar, you just left click on it and move...this was easier, but also you sometimes accidentally moved the task bar when you didn't want it to move, ugh. Well, there you have it, now put your taskbar to the top and see if

Ottimo programmino, molto geeks!

The newest version of Taskbar Shuffle not only lets you rearrange items in your Windows Taskbar, but it also works for the System Tray! Moving your Taskbar items around is as simple as click and drag, and if you want to rearrange the icons in your System Tray you’ll need to use a hotkey while dragging (the hotkey is set to Ctrl by default). I didn’t think this was that cool until I actually started doing it. Oh, but wait, that’s not even the best thing about the new version. Now you don’t even have to install Taskbar Shuffle for it to work! There is still the classic installer available that will organize the program files, and create the necessary shortcuts, but now there is also a standalone version that you can get (download mirror) which requires absolutely no installation. Just download and run…gotta love that. Other than that there are some minor fixes that came along with this release, and it’s nice to get a new version since it has been nearly a year sin
