      Comparing Sugar and Other Sweeteners
To start with, the artificial sweeteners should be avoided like the plague. They are many times sweeter than sugar and have had very bad effects on people including making people fatter. They are not foods and are more like drugs. Now the sugar cane is not really bad for health. It is what they do to it.This is similar to what they do with wheat and rice. They take the nutritious part of the sugar cane out. It is a thick black liquid called blackstrap molasses. It is sweet and sold in the health food store. It is very nutritious with lots of iron and chromium. The part that is left is called sugar and has calories but no nutrition. They advertise for people to buy chromium supplements since it is needed to metabolize sugar. The sugar robs your body of the chromium and other things. If black

A Chefs Guide to Sweeteners - By Josh Stone
By Josh Stone The Industrialized world is obsessed with diets, and yet has the raging sweet tooth of a child. Everybody wants non-fattening food that tastes fat. And so here we are in the industrial age, working our laboratories round-the-clock to come up with a way to have the taste without the calories. This has given us a host of sort-of, one-off-from, and flat-out substitute sugars. The bewildering variety of them needn’t drive you to shudders - here we present you with a sanity guide: First, to dispel a myth, while sugars do indeed lead to a wide waistline, there is no conclusive evidence that actual sugars cause hyperactivity in children or diabetes. These are chronic diseases that you’re either prone since birth to get or aren’t - no matter if you eat nothing but sugar or eschew it zealously. And all sugars are carbohydrates and contain four calories per gram. If it says ’sugar’ on the label, this rule applies. The aspect we refer to as ’sw

      Full of sweeteners
Full Throttle is one of those drinks that most people have strong feelings about. It's either a love it or hate it drink. For me, I love it. I don't want to pander to the corporate entity that is Coca Cola, but they really did a nice job with the product: nice taste, good can, decent kick. Now I thought it was time to give Full Throttle Sugar Free a try. The can is the same basic 16 oz. can as Full Throttle but with some silver flames at the top and bottom with the words Sugar Free in red. I like the flames, they give the can a little more edge, but the words Sugar Free just look stupid. I just feel like they could have done a little more. The color of Full Throttle Sugar Free is the same as the original Full Throttle, with an almost AMP like color but a little lighter greenish yellow. The flavor is a strong mix of lime & melon, much like the original. In fact you really can't tell that it's sugar free. This is a really strong entry in the sugar free category and definitely one of

Stay Away From The Artificial Sweeteners! Run Away!!
We all know artificial sweeteners are Evil. Why do we continue to consume them?And-why can't I just have a piece of fucking gum without this shit in it? Just regular sugar in my gum for me, thank you. Seriously- I can't do gum at all because all of it has some sort of artificial sweetener in it. I'm quite pissed about that.I understand some people just can't have sugar, and diabetics need to have a certain diet that contains little sugar, etc.But what about the rest of us? We don't need it. It doesn't need to be in everything.People, don't you know it's all evil(Nutrasweet, Aspartame, Equal, Sweet n' Low, Splenda) , that it causes all sorts of crazy shit? Headaches, Cancer, for fuck's sake? Stuff we probably aren't aware of?Take a look at these:Aspartame-'the most dangerous of all'This gives an overview on most of the sweeteners, gives side effects of Aspartame and introduces a book by Janet Hull titled Is Splenda Safe? Very informative.Wikipedia's article on Sugar Subst

The Dangers of Artificial Sweeteners, Part 2
The other day I was talking to a bunch of women, and I told them about how bad refined sugar is for our health. I added that artificial sweeteners are not a real solution, either, naming aspartame, and giving them some info from my last post. One of them, relieved, said: "Oh, great, I only use Splenda". I told her not to be so happy about it, as I had read that it wasn't that good at all, but at that time I did not have any facts to support my statement. So I began to search, and I really wanted to find pros and cons alike. Well, Splenda's own website was about the only one with positive info. They have a really nice website, somehow it reminded me of the house of the wicked witch from "Hansel and Gretel". Let's see what they say about the safety of sucralose (its trade name is Splenda, but its included in a wide variety of food items):McNeil Nutritionals, LLC is committed to developing innovative nutritional products, such as the SPLENDA® Sweetener Products, that provide important

The Dangers of Artificial Sweeteners, Part 1
When people decide to lose weight, one of the first changes many make to their diet is to add artificial sweeteners in place of sugar. We have been told by the government that artificial sweeteners are safe, but are there hidden dangers to this additive? Let's take a closer look at artificial sweeteners, specifically aspartame. In an earlier post I have already published an article about the connection of Nutrasweet and brain tumors (Click here to read it). Aspartame is made up of three components. Fifty percent is phenylalanine, forty percent is aspartic acid, and ten percent is methanol, or wood alcohol. Phenylalanine and aspartic acid are both amino acids. Amino acids are naturally found in the food we eat, specifically in the proteins. They are the building blocks for our bodies, and help us build tissue and muscles. But, in nature, amino acids are not ingested singularly. Many types of amino acids are joined together to form protein chains, and that is what we ingest when we sit
