We are often bothered by politicians “flip-flops,” think Kerry. Then we have those that are likely not flip flops, but the necessity in the necessary revealing the opposite of your public positions or pronouncements (denouncement is fitting as well.). This tends to cut off legitimate options that if allowed to be cut from debate and/or discussion will leave them with little of worth or substance to work with; a fact that would make the “soft” on security. We’re a little late in posting about this particular gadget but, whereas ordinarily we’d simply not post about something already so widely covered, the MicroDrone remote surveillance drone from German company MicroDrones GmbH genuinely gets our pulses racing – besides that, it’s guaranteed to feature in TFTS on the premise that ‘if it flies it’s in’.
The MicroDrone is by no means alone when it comes to remotely piloted surveillance craft – after all, UAVs have seen action the world over for many years – but what serves to distinguish this particular drone from the others is its ease of use and its relatively diminutive cost (though, at $60,000 a shot its certainly out of the reach of your average RC jock).
Measuring in at a mere 2ft in diameter, the MicroDrone can fly for up to 20 minutes on a single charge of its on-board battery pack and its already been trailed by Staffordshire Police in the UK during the V Festival. It’s also rumoured that none other than MI5
This is a case of what happens when you get greedy and over tax something. To sum it up beginning on July 1st of this year Tennessee raised the cigarette tax from .20 cents a pack to .62 cents a pack. There are eight states that border Tennessee and all of them have much lower cigarette taxes. Naturally Tennessee residents are crossing the border to save up to .45 cents a pack.
Cigarette taxes aren’t designed to help smokers quit as the liberals would have you believe, they are just an opportunity for liberals to make a profit off of an addiction. If they truly wanted you to quit smoking they would ban cigarettes, but they won’t because the money is too good.
Tennessee raised the taxes so high that many, many Tennessee residents are going elsewhere for their cigarettes, and that is where the problem lies. Tennessee has so over taxed cigarettes they are now losing too much money to other states, and they can’t have that.
