I was quite shocked that Santa Anita made the move to install Pro-Ride synthetic racing surface. Truthfully, I figured with the Magna stock prices falling fast, they would bag the idea and go back to a conventional dirt surface. With the Breeder’s Cup around the corner, this move is a surprising one, but certainly a [...]
While we are all waiting for the high end 5 megapixel Kodak/Motorola ZN5 cameraphone to start the new line of Motorola handsets, Motorola seems to be working on another, far less well specked ZN device .
Called Motorola ZN200, it seems to be a pretty low end dual band GSM (850/1900) slider with small display and 2 megapixel camera.
And, contrary to the leaked pictures and what not, Motorola
I know it’s popular to trash Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but, ya know, I’ll admit it: I didn’t hate it. It wasn’t a great movie by any stretch of the imagination - there were a few too many reaction shots from cute, furry animals and at least one scene [...]

Mysterious countdowns have been aplenty as of late. The last really memorable one was when Siren was unveiled. Now we’ve got another one; this time it’s for Resident Evil 5. Spotted at ResidentEvil.com, this countdown still has over 50 hours to go at the time of this writing. Of course, we don’t know [...]
We are entering a dangerous time in the world of thoroughbred racing. The tragedy of Eight Belles, coupled with Barbaro’s death, have the wolves at the door, looking to end our glorious game. Here’s a cheesy cover of the Crowded House classic ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ starring a 16-year-old Angelina Jolie. Well gadget aficionados were on the lookout for this from a pretty long time, so the news of the Samsung Glyde U940 being hooked up with Verizon was more than pleasing. It is the Verizon’s InfoManager system which would come embed in this side slider from Samsung. Verizon users could get this one booked as early as May 9 on a two-year $299 contract. This pricing is a mere speculation as of now

CHICAGO – With today being April 9, 2008 and with “The Dark Knight” scheduled to open on July 18, 2008, the difference between the two dates, of course, is more than three months. Even so, the first review for the monolithically anticipated film has just hit the Web in Portuguese.
Contributor Alexandre Winck for the respected Batman site Batman-on-Film.com reports that the review comes from a “well-known blog in Brazil” that’s part of the “largest media corporation” there, which is known as Globo. Winck says the author is a “respected journalist”. While the translation into English is a bit rough, you’ll get the gist. The following information may contain spoilers.

Tennis courts are standard in dimension, but vary widely in surface material. Tennis rules dictate the length, width, and placement of the lines on a tennis court. Tennis courts have a variety of surfaces and can be either outdoors or indoors. In this article, we will introduce the basic dimensions and aspects of the tennis courts and discuss the different types of tennis court surfaces. The rules of tennis dictate that tennis courts be 78 feet long from baseline to baseline. A net, 3 feet high in the middle, divides the court into two equal halves. Tennis courts are 36 feet wide from doubles sideline to doubles sideline, and 27 feet wide from singles sideline to singles sideline. Unlike the dimensions of a tennis court, the tennis court surface can vary in character. The different surface

Some time spent decluttering today. There seemed to be more stuff coming indoors than going out and I needed to adjust the equilibrium.Yesterday I junked a seriously large amount of unneeded items and today was similar. So indoor areas show more clear horizontal surfaces again, which is always a good sign. When I've done this before I've also managed to donate items to others fairly successfully, but even that needs a time limit. My retention/rejection criteria included: Does it make me smile? Have I used it in the last year? Can I squish two of something down to one instead? Are there boxes of stuff that haven't been used at all for the last year? I could probably have been more calculated, but this seemed to work well enough.

Morgan has a lot of dedicated fans, but it's image is about as cutting-edge as a cantaloupe. The last time the company unveiled a new concept, the big news was that it had four wheels. But seriously folks, the Morgan LifeCar is a concept that has been a long time coming. It took several companies and three universities almost three years and nearly ₤2 million, including a healthy dose of government funding, to develop. And it's finally ready. The LifeCar is based on the Morgan Aero 8 and powered by hydrogen fuel cells with regenerative braking technology in a package that is at once both futuristic and retro. (Leave it to the Brits to do both.) Together with its partners, Morgan, which was responsible for the design and final assembly, will take the wraps off the LifeCar concept at the fa

Besides being a nice example of alliteration, this week’s title is in reference to Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter who jumped on board and hijacked the Super Bowl news bandwagon. He didn’t try to re-focus the attention of the American people on important matters (like the violence in Kenya over the disputed presidential election). That would be too much of a downer for us as we support the economy by purchasing our 11-ounce bag of chips as part of the 11.2 million pounds of chips that are sold for Super Bowl parties.Specter held a press conference two days before the Super Bowl (note the timing!) to complain about a delay of several months in getting a response to requests for information about Commissioner Roger Goodel’s handling of the Patriot’s tapes. These are the tapes that

Motorola's A1600 MING 2 surfaces What's that, you say? Reportedly, that picture you see above is the Motorola A1600, which could be the long-awaited successor to the A1200 MING. Granted, we've no proof to go along with it, but the design sure fits the mold. According to Chinese-based eNet, this bugger will sport quad-band GSM connectivity, a 3.2-megapixel camera (with autofocus), WiFi, assisted-GPS, a couple of built-in games, a 'talking dictionary' and a Linux-based OS. Interestingly enough, that last tidbit certainly conflicts with other reports we've heard, but we suppose time will tell (look for a February launch) what system really ends up running the MING 2 show.(Via Engadget.)
Hard surfaces need virtually no maintenance. They can be used in all sorts of creative ways in place of a lawn. For instance, you can create a courtyard garden enclosed by walls, a Mediterranean-style garden surrounded by evergreens, a minimalist Japanese-style garden, a walkthrough rock garden, a modern patio or a traditional, formal terrace.

Really, really hard. A few miles a week on concrete sidewalks might not set you up for an injury, but as you increase your mileage, try to find a softer surface to run on, as lots of concrete running dramatically increases the likelihood of injury.Asphalt - Now you would think that asphalt is just as bad as concrete, but it is not. It's actually about 8 times "softer". The real problem with running on asphalt roads is not the hardness, but the camber of the road. Roads are designed to shed water and are actually higher in the center and lower of the sides. This leads to a surface that isn't flat and can cause injuries.Sand - Well, sand is nice and soft, right? Not when you run on it. It compacts into a hard unstable surface. Running on the beach is especially hard on your body b

A Tekken movie has apparently been in production for over five years, with the first word on the project dating back to February of 2002!
Back then it was reported that production company Crystal Sky Pictures had secured the rights to the film for $60 million, although two years later it was reported that Dimension Films, a subsidiary of Miramax, had been tied to co-fund the and distribute the movie.
News of the movie since has been non-existent, although now Coming Soon is reporting that Sony Picture’s Screen Gems will now be distributing the movie (which I’d bet will also pop-up exclusively on a PS3 near you when it actually comes out) and the first teaser poster has been spotted.
The teaser poster simply shows a large, stone or metallic T structure rising up as well as the cryptic words:
After the Great Terror Wars, governments fell…
Seven corporations rose from the ashes to rule all men…
Together they were known as The Iron Fist…

“Root of All Evil,” the independent thriller filming now in Chicago, will be shooting at Clybourn and Ashland on Wednesday. This information comes from Chicago reader Eamon Daly on Tuesday at 10:34 p.m.
As the hours count down to the Brach’s Candy building implosion for “The Dark Knight,” I continue to stay in close contact with several highly reliable sources to bring you the most accurate information. My most current information for this event is that it will be on Wednesday, Aug. 29 or Thursday, Aug. 30 if Wednesday is rained out. The time is “critical for the cameras to get the best lighting on the scene,” my source says.It is now scheduled to be between 11:50 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday or on Thursday if Wednesday isn’t the day. My source says “heavy traffic due to street closures” should be expected.
Following up on my memorial coverage from “The Dark Knight” over the weekend, here is yet another report. This source goes by the name “El Hombre Murcielago”.Warning: This can be considered spoiler information. As a sharp-eyed observer at the memorial service filming, I can tell you that I saw Gary Oldman – confirming what your other reader gave you – Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal up on the podium with the mayor. The mayor was giving a speech in memory of commissioner Loeb. Heath Ledger and Anthony Michael Hall were also on set for the weekend.Word was that it was the biggest shot (in terms of people and logistical issues) in the movie. The number of extras will be augmented from about 900 to 1,000 (including cops and civilians) with tech gimmickry.
After first reporting Anthony Michael Hall’s role in “The Dark Knight” on Aug. 21, I have received another confirmation of the same report from an independent source not affiliated with my initial source. The television reporter we stood by while filming on Saturday, Aug. 25 was Anthony Michael Hall. I can confirm with certainty that he is a TV news reporter.
Things had been quiet for a while on the Google Phone rumors front, but it looks like talk about the device has surfaced again. Only, this time, the concept is looking much less like a rumor and more like an inevitability. Reports have been surfacing which indicate that Google has been showing off a prototype mobile phone to different carriers. According to an article published Thursday in the Wall Street Journal, Google is showing the the prototype around while continuing to hone and improve the product to offer a browsing and internet experience superior to what is currently available. Additionally, the Google phone will reportedly offer free service. Instead of relying on a large price tag and/or monthly fees, the Google phone will supposedly generate revenue for Google via commercial advertising dollars. Specifically, in exchange for free calling, Google phone users will be served advertisements. Google is particularly excited about the possibilities of mobile phone advertising.

Shooting began in Jan. 2007. The film is scheduled to be released in 2008.
Just one week after beating Roger Federer in the French Open and creating the inkling of a possibility that he could give Federer some trouble at Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal fell back to earth. In a grass court tuneup last weekend Nadal lost in straight sets to the 106th ranked player in the world. With Nadal’s loss, Andy Roddick now appears to be Federer’s stiffest competition. That means the hardest part of Wimbledon for Federer will be waking up in he morning and finding a way to get to the stadium.

We can all agree that the control interface of today is the mouse and keyboard combination and tomorrow that we’ll use most likely is a touchscreen based interface.
