The Splinter supercar is the project of some of the students at North Carolina State University. The Splinter supercar is going to be built from wood composites that will be use where ever is possible: body, chassis, and large percentages of the suspension components and wheels. The weight target of the Splinter wood supercar is 2500lbs.
The Splinter wood supercars engine is also equipped with Twin Roots-type superchargers, 4 air-to-water intercoolers and is expected to develop 600 hp.
The Splinter wood supercar is going to be powered by a Northstar V8 engine with aluminum block and heads, 32V DOHC reverse-flow cylinder heads and 4.6 liter displacement.

Even after CEO Bill Ford announced production plans for the Ford GT in February 2002, a month after the GT40 concept debuted at the Detroit auto show, we had our doubts. With Ford in its worst economic slump in 20 years, would the company, could the company, really build a limited run of 500-hp exotic sports cars?
After meeting with the development team and driving three prototypes, we can assure you that Ford is completely serious about this car. Three GTs, as they’re now called, correct in appearance and hardware but not in every development detail, debuted at Ford’s centennial celebration in Dearborn in June. The Netherlands automaker: Spyker’s C8 Spyder supercar is confirmed for the 2007 Australian International Motor Show at Sydney of October.
Spyker C8 Spyder Supercar: the $650,000 hand-built convertible features a mid-mounted all-aluminium V8 engine sourced from Audi, which produces 300kW for rear-wheel distribution.
The C8 Spyder’s aluminum frame keeps overall kerb weight to 1250 kilograms, allowing it to sprint to 100km/hr in a claimed 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 300km/hr.
P1, Spyker Cars’ exclusive Australian authorised agent, is bringing the C8 Spyder to the Motor Show and P1 CEO Tim Sommers expects a strong reception for it.
“People know the Spyker name now because it entered Formula One this year and even led the European GP in July,” Mr Sommers said.
“But most Australians would never have seen a Spyker road car before, so the Australian International Motor Show will certainly be the first chance for the public to see one.”

Car makers spend millions of dollars creating new cars for us to enjoy, some cars really do need to be improved but we was shocked to hear that Kicherer the German tuner wanted to improve the Audi R8 supercar. However Kicherer have done the impossible and made this fantastic car even better.
Kicherer did not bother to improve the mechanicals as this was already perfect, instead they worked on the aesthetics and handling of the Audi R8. You can clearly see a new front spoiler, this helps to reduce front lift, and a new spoiler to the rear improves downforce.
The rims have gone form 19-inch to 20-inch lighter rims, but what is the most obvious change are the cars new springs, so now the Audio R8 sits just 15mm high at the front and 30mm at the rear. It is not certain how much this will improve the handling, but I am sure that we will find out very soon.
