      BMW M1 Supercar 30 Years
BMW's mid-engined M1 supercar made its debut at the 64th Paris Motor show in 1978, now, it has been 30 years.Sports car fans and lovers were able to admire a super-low, extremely dynamic new model making it quite clear at very first sight that this was Germany’s fastest road-going sports car: the BMW M1, 277 bhp strong, and well over 160 mph fast. That was indeed quite something, considering that BMW’s super-sports car had a price-tag back then in 1978 of exactly DM 100,000, enough for four BMW 323is plus a couple of optional extras. The M1 was developed by BMW Motorsport with the help of Lamborghini and only 456 cars ever saw the light of day. Subaru shows off electric car, Saleen unveils ethanol supercar, Bloomberg praises incentive

Lexus LF-A hybrid supercar picture gallery
launched at 2007 Tokyo Motor Show We got to see the Lexus LF-A concept at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show. And catch a few eyes it definitely did. The new design philosophy visible in the LF-A was called L-Finesse by Lexus. While the initial information was that it would be a V8 powering this supercar, the latest rumors are that the LF-A would be powered by a hybrid engine. The V8 would be there, but there would be an electric motor too - and the specifications for that is not available yet. The V8 would be a 5 litre engine producing 435 bhp. The power distribution and how big a role the electric motor would play is unknown yet. Well, a hybrid supercar is in some ways a little late to the party - especially when an all-electric

The use of the term is dependent on the era: a vehicle that is considered to be a supercar at one time may not retain its superiority in the future. What Makes a Supercar?
By: Robert Hill Have you ever wondered, what makes a car a supercar?Asking what makes a car super is like asking, what makes a woman beautiful - everyone has its own opinion.A term supercar was coined to describe extremely expensive, extremely beautiful and extremely fast cars. But the proper use of this term is often subjective and disputed, especially among enthusiasts. There is no clear definition of what characteristics a car must have to be a supercar. What constitutes a supercar is often a matter of opinion. Also, the use of the term is heavily dependent on the era - a car that is considered to be a supercar at one time may lose its superiority in the future. It is also important to know that the term supercar refers to factory-built, usually unmodified, street-legal cars. Heavily modified and potentially street - illegal vehicles do not fall into the supercar category. Supercars are not muscle cars or tuned up sports cars. And there is no such thing as a cut price supercar.A sup

After meeting with the development team and driving three prototypes, we can assure you that Ford is completely serious about this car. Kicherer does impossible and improves Audi R8 supercar
Car makers spend millions of dollars creating new cars for us to enjoy, some cars really do need to be improved but we was shocked to hear that Kicherer the German tuner wanted to improve the Audi R8 supercar. However Kicherer have done the impossible and made this fantastic car even better. Kicherer did not bother to improve the mechanicals as this was already perfect, instead they worked on the aesthetics and handling of the Audi R8. You can clearly see a new front spoiler, this helps to reduce front lift, and a new spoiler to the rear improves downforce. The rims have gone form 19-inch to 20-inch lighter rims, but what is the most obvious change are the cars new springs, so now the Audio R8 sits just 15mm high at the front and 30mm at the rear. It is not certain how much this will improve the handling, but I am sure that we will find out very soon. Source Written by Peter for Product ReviewsIn Sections: Autos, Supercars

Ford GT 90 - Classics Supercar
The GT90 concept was the first example of what Ford called "edge design" in which numerous hard-edged surfaces seem to collide with one another. In this way, the GT90 almost resembles a Stealth Fighter. And, like a Stealth Fighter, the GT90 features similarly advanced materials, taken straight from race car technology: a honeycomb aluminium chassis, carbonfibre body and ceramic exhaust.Performance included a top speed 250 mph (402 km/h) from a 720 hp (537 kW) quad-turbocharged V12 engine, the exhaust of which was claimed to be hot enough to damage the body panels, requiring ceramic tiles similar to those on the space shuttle to prevent this.It was intended to be lauched in a limited series of 100 cars, but unfortunately this plan was never realised. However, the GT90 did have a significant effect on the future of Ford design, the "edge design" concept later spawning vehicles such as the Ka and Cougar.Ford GT90More related :Ford Next Drift Car - Ford Falcon 2008 Ford Interceptor Concept

      Wanna buy a supercar?
OK, so we’re not all going to buy a new one, but a used car is certainly an option though I’m not too sure Wendy would run with the idea of me buying a Lambourghini Gallardo at £85,000 even if it is a used car! Still, I think it’s safe to say that she’ll let me get away with downloading a few supercar wallpapers for the computer. What’s not so easy to get is a wallpaper at a decent resolution for todays computer screens though. Where you will find one for most of the flashier cars is at Vcars download section. For most of us, it’s the closest that we’ll get to actually owning the likes of a Ferrari. Motoring news is always fascinating. Who’d have thought that the mini would have still been going strong after all this time? So many seemingly superior cars have long since fallen by the wayside over the course of its lifetime. For that matter, it’s been interesting to watch the gradual rise of Skoda from the total scrap end of the car

      Lexus Supercar - Lexus IS-F
The all-new 2008 Lexus IS-F represents an inspired shift forward in high-performance engineering. Driven by a potent 5.0-litre, 400+horsepower V8 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the IS-F delivers exhilarating power, seamless acceleration and split second response. Keeping it under control is a newly refined, three-setting sport version of VDIM for outstanding feel and handling. The gearbox is something else altogether as the IS-F will premier the world’s first eight-speed (yes, eight) direct sport-shift transmission, able to change gears in 0.1 seconds - a mere 0.05 seconds slower than gear changes in a Formula One car. This should send the IS-F to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds from a standing start - although the all important top speed is currently unknown - with eight gears to run out, it will certainly be impressive. With all this power comes great responsibility. This is taken care of by specially designed Lexus-emblazoned Brembo brakes - six-piston up front, two piston do

      Supercar Wallpapers
Surfing the web is my passion in the last two years. And I did bookmarked all my favorite sites which really attract me because of uniqueness and quality of contents. Automobile sites are closed to my heart, I love cars and I like driving them. And when it comes to cars, Vcars overwhelms all the car sites. I like Vcars for it offers you Supercar wallpapers that can be downloaded for free. They are not called Supercars for nothing. The number one super car is the Bugatti veyron which can run up to 252.2 MPH. I hope that someday there are highways with the speed limit of 300 MPH. It is followed by Koenigsegg CCx with 250 MPh. Those are only the top two and you can see the top 10 list. Vcars also gives you the opportunity to take a look on all the cars with all the manufacturers. They have all the wallpapers and screensavers of these cars. Aside from all the Supercars, Vcars has a Motoring News page which let you know all the update on the motoring industry. It will enhance your knowledge

      sleek supercar wallpapers and screensavers
I was brought up with lots of independence by my working parents. As a young girl, I played with my brother and his friends - marbles, spinning tops, train sets, racing cars, remote control fast cars... everything else which some people termed as 'boys' stuff'. My dad was a fast car driver and he adored cars. Though we weren't wealthy, my dad had this habit of changing cars every 6-9 months and he just loved stylish sport cars. I supposed his passion for cars had influenced me in a mild way as I did enjoy fast cars too. This explains why I tend to give nice cars, fast cars and racing cars a second look. Unfortunately, contrary to my dad, I have a hubby who doesn't adore cars. And he's at an extreme of not appreciating nice cars at all. So I can only dreamed about having one of those cool looking cars of my desire one day. But before that day arrives, downloading one of these high quality supercar wallpapers and screensavers is a good start. If you are a car lover, check out these

      Lexus Supercar Spied Testing
Here are some of the first pictures of the up and coming Lexus Supercar without its usual testing disguise. The car looks very similar to the LF-A showcar that Lexu unveiled at eth Detroit Motor Show in 2005. This rear-wheel-drive supercar will be powered by a front-mounted V10 and should develop around 500bhp. Lexus has still to confirm this as a new production car, but they would not be out and about testing undisguised if it was not going to reach a showroom near you soon. The car certainly looks a cool ride.Source: msn.co.uk

3100 Miles Cross-Country in a $125,000 Supercar? Sure, Why Not.
… oh and we’re paying you to do it too. Huh?!? Such is the life of the “working” stiffs at Motor Trend. The car magazine’s latest feature pits a photographer and MT journalist against the 3000-mile cross-country Pacific Crest Trail in Audi’s new supercar - the 2008 R8. Where are they posting these jobs by the way? I haven’t seen them on Craigslist yet. If they’d only called me, I probably could’ve made myself available. Probably. At the very least, I’m a fairly small fella. Had they agreed to take one or two less laptops, I probably could’ve squeezed into the toaster oven sized cubby behind the seats. If nothing else, the extra weight would’ve provided a dollop or two of extra traction during their harrowing escape from Oregon’s Crater Lake. If you like cars - especially Audi’s - and love travel, check out the full feature here.

Lexus to offer hybrid variant of LF-A supercar
Who could've ever imagined a Lexus supercar just 10 years ago when they were just breaking ground on US land? Lexus is already near-completion to its first supercar project, and we're anticipating it big time. We already got a few glimpses of it when Lexus revealed two variants of the LF-A Concept, and we are amazed. The LF-A will most likely feature a newly-developed 5.0L V10, churning out more than 500hp. A hybrid variant is also in the pipeline, suggested by recent reports over at Motor Trader.[Source: Motor Authority]Continued- ArticleA top-exec over at Lexus UK, Steve Settle, had an interview with Motor Trader and noted that the new LF-A is being developed from scratch. The Everyday Supercar: Porsche 911 Turbo
The 2007 911 Turbo may be unmatched in its breadth of performance. Few machines can so easily warp our perception of what is possible from a state-of-the-art performance car, and yet so ably serve as a practical and comfortable conveyance for every-day driving. The new Porsche 911 Turbo features a revolutionary 480-horsepower, twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter boxer engine with the world’s first gasoline-engine application of variable turbine geometry (VTG), a redesigned all-wheel-drive system, and evolutionary styling. The new 911 Turbo’s engine produces 480 hp at 6,000 rpm, 60 bhp more than its predecessor, raising specific output of the 3.6-liter boxer-Six to an all-time high of 133 bhp per liter. More notable is the engine’s torque curve, which has been bolstered and broadened by the variable turbine geometry system. Peak torque rises to 457 lb-ft (previously 415 lb-ft), but that peak now spans an extended rpm range from 1,950 to 5,000 rpm, compared to 2,700--4,600 rpm in the previ

Exotic Cadillac supercar a go, again?
During an interview with David Sedgwick of Automotive News, Bob Lutz, GM's vice chairman, revealed that plans to offer a Cadillac in the $150,000 to $180,000 realm are still on the table. Although production of the 2003 Sixteen concept has come up in previous conversations, within GM, it has always been more of a styling exercise, built to influence future Caddy designs. That said, the General has researched the idea and came away impressed with the business case.[Source: Autoblog via Automotive News]Continued- ArticleAnother option would be the production of a vehicle similar to the 2002 Cien concept (pictured) that Lutz maintains would cost less to produce, but would sell in smaller numbers. If such a vehicle would come to fruition, expect power to come from a V12, a V10 or even a hybrid powertrain. The latter may be more appealing, as Lutz admits that federal fuel economy standards are going to have a great deal of influence on future models and GM's focus is beginning to turn towa

Lexus To Debut LF-A Supercar At Nurburgring Endurance Race
For those attending the 36th ADAC Zurich 24 Hour Race 2008 in May, Toyota has a treat for you. Motor Authority is reporting that a prototype racing version of the as yet to finalized LF-A uber-Lexus will be running round the 'Ring. This impresses us because any 24 Hour race is murder on a vehicle. But one at the Nurburgring? That borders on suicidal. Which we like. The final production specs haven't been released/announced yet, but just to jog your memory we're talking about a 4.8-liter V10 kicking out more than 500 horsepower that powers the hot Lexus to more than 200 mph. This prototype racer raises the bar with bigger wheels and brakes, a Superbird-inspired rear wing, tenny-tiny racing style side mirrors; and at least a dozen new inlets, scallops and scoops. Autocar reports that British speed merchants McLaren are set to ulneash another of their own-branded supercars. The P11 ('cause an actual name would be way too mnemonic), the new whip is set to debut in 2010. Autocar is quick to point out that the P11 isn't designed to eclipse the previous gold standard (literally) in supercars: the BMW-powered, three-seat-abreast F1. The P11 will offer "just" 550 horsepower from its Mahle-sourced V8. To emphasize the P11's status as a driver's car-- as opposed to whatever you'd call the Mercedes McLaren SLR AMG-- the company will hang fire on the drop-top Spider version. (Explain?) A subsequent P12 should up the ante with a lighter chassis and a 600hp V10, which may or may not sound like a bag of bolts in a cement mixer at i
