Last summer was a total disappointment in terms of hours of sunshine around these parts. And while I didn't complain last year (I'm not a huge fan of the heat), this year I have plans. We registered Blue for kindergarten yesterday. It was so cute. The classroom had bright pictures hanging everywhere. Several computers in the room (for kindergartners!!) You gotta love this Swedish band Second-Hand Furniture, as much for their music as their carefree nature. On recording their debut EP in 2003 they promptly gave all 100 copies of it away free to indiepop-lovers. Needless to say Second-Hand Furniture’s time together was over in the blink of an eye but not before they recorded another EP and several unreleased tracks. The good news is that hip Peruvian label Plastilina Records have gathered all the recordings together on one retrospective ‘Game, Set, Match…’. This is my first successful batch of orange marmalade utilizing the oranges from our backyard. I tried using a recipe from Tyler Florence once upon a time and it failed miserably. Finally, success! It's been yet another amazing week in Durango. The week started with sunshine, and it felt like spring was already here. Luckily the temperature kept going back down, saving the snow from melting. Thursday we started getting some new snow, it's all good now. Fresh powder, perfect temperature, just in the low 30's. I was skiing with the boys on Thursday, and me, Matt and Kris ate lunch at the 10,000 feet on our ski break. Then the snow really started coming down, and we had half of a foot fresh snow on the top of our skis. I was so proud of Kris - he did so good in the powder snow.
