Mirror's Edge is the latest title to come out of DICE studios and has been hailed and nailed for being incredibly or even overly innovative. I spent quite a lot of time with the game over this last week and while the main storyline is pretty short, I found the experience to be quite breathtaking and the time trials a whole bunch of fun on their own. The game isn't perfect but it got me quite exc

Authorities describe affluenza as an unearned feeling of entitlement for luxuries, and it's becoming an epidemic, especially among children. The primary symptom is overconsumption. John de Graaf, describes affluenza as:• A fever for shopping and spending.• Swollen expectations about material needs.• Decreasing immunity to the assaults of advertisers.• Self-concepts defined by brands of clothing.• A rash of debt by the time the victim leaves college.Like the more standard flu, affluenza can be a minor inconvenience or a more dangerous infection. In many cases it manifests itself in a whiny, selfish child with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement. But in some cases, that self-indulgent child grows into a self-indulgent adult looking for a free ride through life. Fortunately, when

A satellite system devoted to tracking sex offenders recently released from prison suffered from too many bugs to be realistically implemented. The original idea was to use four satellites as a GPS to keep more accurate tabs on known sex offenders by way of an attached radio-transmitting ankle tag."...a pilot found that the signal emitted from the tracking devices could be blocked by clouds, buildings or leaves. It was also lost underground and on some trains. The Ministry of Justice has decided to focus instead on lie detectors as a means of controlling paedophiles released on parole. The U-turn will leave ministers facing accusations that they have failed to address the threat that communities face from 30,000 registered sex offenders."

That's more than twice the amount built in the past 30 years, according to real estate firm CB Richard Ellis. At the peak in 2005, brokers needed just a week to get more than 200 people to reserve a spot in South Waterfront's John Ross tower. But no boom lasts forever. Like the 1990s dot-com expansion, all business cycles are, after
Education System Suffering From Bad Policy Decisions, Archer Says:
By Candia Dames -
Nassau, Bahamas:
The country’s education system is still suffering from some of the bad policy decisions made after independence in 1973, according to former High Commissioner to CARICOM A. Leonard Archer, who is also a former educator who headed the Bahamas Union of Teachers.
Mr. Archer, who was the special guest on the Love 97/JCN programme "Jones and Company" on Sunday, said that after independence many good teachers felt they were no longer welcomed in the system and so they left.
The result, he said, was a shortage of educators in the public school system and the powers that be lowered the standards teachers had to meet before being hired.
It meant that many teachers were brought in with lowe
Spain's once-booming property market is in freefall, official statistics have revealed for the first time. The announcement that house sales had plunged has dashed government hopes for a "soft landing" in the sector that has driven the Spanish economy for more than a decade. The buying and selling of homes fell by 27 per cent in January compared with the same period last year, Spain's National Statistical Institute (INE) announced yesterday. The collapse coincided with a 25 per cent fall in the granting of mortgages, the biggest drop since 2004. The size of individual mortgages has also fallen, by nearly 4 per cent, as providers fear for the security of their loans.

Starling Insurance and Associates, a Colorado‑based company, is notifying their customers that their personal data may be compromised, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, drivers license numbers, account information, and names. The data breach appears to have occurred earlier this month, and those affected were notified beginning March 5.
A letter to the Attorney General of New Hampshire shows that the data breach was caused by the theft of a server from a locked office, and while the computer in question had password‑protection (a misnomer, in such cases), there was no encryption in place to protect the data. Currently, it appears that the company has no idea how the data breach came to be, or what kind of information was actually lost, as they are in
Hannaford supermarkets has been alerting their customers that there has been a data breach of credit card and debit card numbers. The statement that they’ve released made an emphatic point to let the public know that the information breach concerns those numbers alone, and does not extend to other personal information such as names and addresses, which Hannaford does not collect. And good for them, too: personal data collection and retention was one of the root problems following the TJX data breach a little over a year ago.
Hannaford has also pointed out that they’re using the latest encryption protocols which are in compliance with PCI. In fact, they were certified as PCI compliant last year and recertified just this past February. However, 4.2 million

But it ends when thought and its illusive “me”-content are seen through. There really is nothing missing right here and right now, without the thoughts that suggest otherwise. Look and see! What apart from thought suggests the right's and wrong's of right now? Whether it's about the past or the future, it's all the play of thought!Resolve and rest will never come from thoughts. Stillness and peace can never be found in mental movement. So why look for security there?Where thought plays, it is an endless maze of questions and uncertainties. Lacks and dissatisfaction. Confusion and delusion. And where thought plays, inev

Venezeula has narrowly voted against a controversial referendum that could have seen Hugo Chavez President for life. The referendum, which proposed sweeping changes to the constitution, was narrowly voted against by a majority of 51%.Along with populist measures such as reducing the working day from 8 to 6 hours and extending social security benefits to infromal workers, the Venezuelan President had included clauses that would cement his grip on the nation. Chavez wanted to abolish the two-term limit for Presidents, and take control of the country's autonomous bank. This is a stunning setback for Chavez, who suffers his first polling setback since coming to power in 1999. The Times of India and several other news sites are carrying articles about a break‑in to the Defence Material Store Research Development and Establishment (DMSRDE) in India. As far as I can tell, this is a research laboratory under aegis of the Ministry of Defence (or Defense, if you prefer), a branch of an Indian DARPA that deals with materials research. As such, one would expect a more than adequate level of security. The details in the Times article bears this out: “the entire boundary wall is fenced and the wires are electrified.” I’d assume armed guards, most probably military, were also securing the entrances as well. Three computers were stolen, and due to the circumstances, there is a not-unsurprising belief that this was an inside job. Thankfully, nothing of strategic importance has been stolen, according to official statements released by the government; however, I would imagine there are some reasons for concern. One of the c

This is really sad news and the bodybuilder was hospitalized for 2 days, with him now being back at home. This will definitely not stop him so we do think he will recover quickly.

EUR/USD stopped its fall today and jumped back up to 1.4670 levels on Forex after today's Federal Reserve release on industrial production. In this October industrial production fell by 0.5% after 0.2% growth in September and median expectation at 0.1% for this month. That means that FOMC will probably need to adjust U.S. interest rates once again to stimulate economy growth.
