Does Your Child suffers from Affluenza?
Authorities describe affluenza as an unearned feeling of entitlement for luxuries, and it's becoming an epidemic, especially among children. The primary symptom is overconsumption. John de Graaf, describes affluenza as:• A fever for shopping and spending.• Swollen expectations about material needs.• Decreasing immunity to the assaults of advertisers.• Self-concepts defined by brands of clothing.• A rash of debt by the time the victim leaves college.Like the more standard flu, affluenza can be a minor inconvenience or a more dangerous infection. In many cases it manifests itself in a whiny, selfish child with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement. But in some cases, that self-indulgent child grows into a self-indulgent adult looking for a free ride through life. Fortunately, when

Indian Military Research Facility Suffers Computer Theft - Electrified Fences Not Enough For Computer Security
The Times of India and several other news sites are carrying articles about a break‑in to the Defence Material Store Research Development and Establishment (DMSRDE) in India.  As far as I can tell, this is a research laboratory under aegis of the Ministry of Defence (or Defense, if you prefer), a branch of an Indian DARPA that deals with materials research.  As such, one would expect a more than adequate level of security.  The details in the Times article bears this out: “the entire boundary wall is fenced and the wires are electrified.”  I’d assume armed guards, most probably military, were also securing the entrances as well. Three computers were stolen, and due to the circumstances, there is a not-unsurprising belief that this was an inside job.  Thankfully, nothing of strategic importance has been stolen, according to official statements released by the government; however, I would imagine there are some reasons for concern.  One of the c

British woman suffers from orgasms every 5 minutes
Life really can be unfair. What some people can only dream about, others get without any effort at all. Admittedly, for those lucky devils, these gifts from fate often turn out to be a genuine trial, turning from pleasure into a torture. No, our story is not another sketch on the theme “Rich people also cry”. This report will not be about money or fame, but a quite different matter. Remember how in the film ‘Vanilla Sky’ Cameron Diaz’s heroine explained to her lover, played by Tom Cruise, that “once” is good, twice is even better, three times is just incredible, but four… Four orgasms took the girl to the height of ecstasy and left her totally exhausted. And now just imagine what would have happened to her had she experienced not 4 orgasms in a single day, but 250. One every five minutes. WWC: USA Suffers A Huge Upset
The #1 ranked USA Women's soccer team was pounded in China today by Brazil 4-0. Unbelievable. We had defeated Brazil pretty easily in a friendly lead up to the World Cup and Brazil flat out embarrassed us today.I had a feeling this would happen as Hope Solo was replaced as our starting goal keeper yesterday in favor of Briana Scurry. Briana was a good goalie, however, Hope Solo played outstanding and for coach Greg Ryan to roll the dice and shake things up 24 hours before a big semi-final match was a dumb move. Way to screw with the team dynamics Greg!Brazil opened the scoring in the 20th minute (sorta, an OWN GOAL) and would tally goals in the 27th, 56th & 79th minute as well. The U.S. also played short handed for the entire second half as Shannon Boxx picked up her second yellow card in the 45th minute, earning her a seat on the bench.USA will take on Norway this Sunday with 3rd Place on the line.

The Common Fan Pool site suffers setback
It has been a treat to be a part of the free pool site in the past couple years, but unfortunately the NHLPA has come down on the administrator. To quote the site: "The use of player's names, images and other identifying characteristics in any manner that is commercially exploited requires a license. Using player's names in a fantasy pool is such an instance. Our standard fantasy licensing contract will require both a minimum guarantee and a royalty (the royalty being a percentage of advertising revenue brought in by the fantasy site as well as a set fee per unique user). Royalties are credited against the minimum guarantee; if you earn over the minimum guarantee you pay those royalties to the NHLPA, if you earn under the minimum guarantee you would just be liable for the minimum guarantee."- Adam Larry, NHLPA. The site is down temporarily, but the admin says it will be up again on September 29th. Odds are the pool won't be free this time, but we'll see what this guy is up to, bles

Greenspan Suffers From Acute Total Amnesia
Alan Greenspan takes another step down. After his transformation from "Maestro" to "Easy Al" he now fights for the nickname "Greenshill", at least when one follows his comments from Friday. Alan Greenspan, the man solehandedly responsible for the mortgage mess concluded in a speech to economists that today's turmoil resembles the sentiment before the crises of '87 and '98. According to him the mortgage malaise has infected the rest of the economy. This assessment comes from the man who preferred to douse every monetary inflationary excess with more of the poison that caused all exaggerations in the first place.Greenspan must suffer from acute total amnesia. It was him who once praised the doubtful fact that all Americans could buy a house because there were such financial innovations like zero down ARMs.Greenspan did not turn a nation into homeowners. Greenspan pushed a whole nation into the highest debt ever, be it on the private, communal or federal level. To say now that bubbles c

      Envy Corps’ guitarist suffers stroke
Some of you may remember that last Wednesday I went to see Envy Corps at Water Rats in London, however they had to cancel the show suddenly. Well, news has since emerged as to why they had to cancel so abruptly: guitarist Brandon had suffered a stroke. Only 30, he is expected to make a full recovery. Our thoughts are with him and his family… so unexpected. Photo is taken from Stephen Mcleod’s flickr stream under the Creative Commons License. PayPal suffers major system failures!
PayPal is currently experiencing major failures with its payment clearance system. Hundreds of PayPal merchants have reported they have not receive their regular ’subscription payments’. The official statement from PayPal at this moment in time is: “Paypal wants to notify merchants that subscriptions are experiencing some delays and that will be back to normal around September 5, 2007 (Wednesday) or September 6, 2007 (Thursday). Please be assured that no subscriptions will be missed, just that the payout will be delayed. We apologize for any impact caused by this incident. Sincerely, PayPal Merchant Technical Support Team” Whilst this is bad enough for merchants who rely on the income from subscription payments from PayPal, numerous merchants have also reported subscriptions have been incorrectly cancelled by PayPal. No official statement has been issued with regards to this problem. Merchants are very unhappy about this and it is causing serious damage to PayPal reputation.

      Bo Diddley Suffers Heart Attack
The terms originator and pioneer are incredibly overused by today’s media. A band’s importance is often grossly exaggerated, but in the case of Bo Diddley, every piece of praise heaped upon the songwriter is completely deserved. His infamous ‘Bo Diddley’ riff perfectly melded Blues with Rock N Roll, setting the stage for an uncountable number of future musicians. Sadly, Bo has been in poor health the last few years, and his condition seems to be deteriorating.

Chargers RB Turner Suffers High Ankle Sprain
Backup RB Michael Turner started, as usual, in place of league MVP LaDainian Tomlinson, who does not play in the preseason. But he left the game in the second quarter with a high sprain of his right ankle. The severity of the injury was not known last night, but high ankle sprains can linger weeks and even months. Reported by Kevin Acee, signonsandiego.com <<<Hotwire>>> As stated, we don’t know how severe the injury is but high ankle sprains are pretty serious and it sounds as if he’ll miss significant playing time. Darren Sproles would be next in line to fill that position, it may be a good idea to pick him up as insurance.

BBC launch on demand TV, Skype suffers outage and the future of Podcasting
Just a few weeks ago tour blog was dominated by the iPhone, now it’s the iPlayer that’s making the headlines. We’re talking about the BBC’s on demand TV service which will enable internet users to watch programmes within seven days of broadcast, and it’s free. It’s a great idea, and should be a fantastic resource, but it’s currently only compatible with Windows XP users, which has left some people frustrated. Well, when we say some, we mean at least 16,000..because that’s how many have signed an e-petition protesting about the rollout of the service. They want the BBC to develop the system for non-windows platforms, and argues that the current format excludes certain people, therefore goes against the corporation’s ethos. The deadline for signing the petition passed at the beginning of this week, and now the campaigners are waiting for a government response. (more…)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Beneath a blistering sun and surrounded by cheers, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson climbed the steep hill together toward the clubhouse at Southern Hills. They were separated by some 30 yards. And they could not have been farther apart. This was Saturday at the PGA Championship, the final major of the year. Mickelson was on the 18th green, finishing another round over par that left him in the middle of the pack. Woods was making the turn on the adjacent ninth green, more…

      Billie Piper Suffers Sudden Blindness
Billie Piper was rushed to hospital after she suffered from a sudden loss of eyesight. It has been said that Billie was dining at The Ivy restaurant in London when her eyes became blurred when she stepped outside to have a cigarette. She then tried to cover her face up when the photographer’s bulbs started flashing and was in obvious discomfort. Billie has said to have panicked when she woke up the following morning and could not open her eyes; she was then taken to Moorfield’s Eye Hospital in Central London. A friend of Billie said that “She’s being looked at but we don’t know the score. It could be that her eyesight has been damaged or that she has some form of infection or other condition.” Experts have said that retinal damage can be caused by camera flashes but this is rare and could serve as a trigger for existing conditions. We hope that Billie regains her eye sight soon. Written by Kerry for Product ReviewsIn Sections: News, Celebrity News

Bengals RB Kenny Irons suffers serious knee injury
Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Kenny Irons, limped off the field on his left ankle after a seven-yard run and was then carted from the sidelines with unspecified left knee and ankle injuries after picking up 17 yards on four carries. Lewis told reporters after the game it’s a significant knee injury and there will an MRI tomorrow. The fear of course, is that Irons may have suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate injury. Reported by Geoff Hobson, Bengals.com <<<Hotwire>>> Let’s wait till we hear the results from the MRI, but this is a tough break for the Bengals. Irons was selected in the 2nd round in this years draft and was brought in to challenge Chris Perry, who’s had his own issues with staying on the field and isn’t expected to be completely healthy by the start of the season. Kenny Watson would slide up the depth chart by default.

      Santino Marella Suffers The Curse
Another day another injury, this time it appears Santino Marella has picked up an injury but for a change this may not be a bad thing.Believe it or not (probably not if you've only seen him in WWE) but Santino Marella is a talented guy with a lot of potential, unfortunately he's been lumped with a gimmick that never had a chance of working. As a "fan" the real "fans where always going to grow tired of the gimmick pretty quickly, and unless the gimmick is changed upon his return WWE may as well release Santino Marella. The sad thing is that, as anyone who saw Santino Marella in OVW will support, he has massive amounts of potential and given the right gimmick Santino Marella could become a superstar. Why WWE didn't just stick to Santino Marella's OVW gimmick as Boris Alexiev only they know, but it would have been a far better gimmick to pursue.Eugene and Paul Burchill have both had potentially fantastic careers ruined/held up by stupid gimmicks lets hope Santino Marella isn't the same

Since then, Alcoa has been on a wild ride down to share prices once seen back in April and May. Alcoa is an exceptional metal company and should be purchased when the market finally reaches a level of support. Disclosure: No Conflicts.

      Baht strengthens- real estate suffers
The rapid increase in the US dollar and Thai baht exchange rate has largely been explained as weakness of the US dollar around the globe, and more recently by continued inflow of foreign capital to Thailand (particularly via the stock market). Thai baht strength has not only become a major concern for exporters, but also has implications for Thailand´s real estate sectors."If overseas investors decide to acquire real estate assets in Thailand now, they may have to pay approximately 8% more, comparing to the beginning of the year, due the baht appreciation," Mrs. Suphin said.

Jessica Simpson Admits She Suffers From Cellulite And Fat Rolls
Jessica Simpson has admitted that she suffers from cellulite and “fat rolls,” and she’s hoping her range of beachwear will help women shed their body inhibitions and just have a good time. Jessica debuted her swimwear collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami, Florida this last Saturday. Jessica has told MTV.com, “There’s always fun in a bathing suit. And you know that when people are buying a bathing suit, they’re buying it because they want to go do something to enjoy themselves, and that’s kind of where I’m at in my life.” Then she said that “I’m not afraid to celebrate a woman’s body. I do want to inspire people to fall in love with their body and be confident in whom they are. I mean, I’ll show you that I have fat rolls. Dave Chapelle suffers from exhaustion
Comedian Dave Chapelle suffered from a bout of exhaustion over the weekend and was hospitalized. After being in the emergency room for a couple of hours on Saturday he was later released. Apparently his publicist claims he “had been travelling” and he was “exhausted.” What the hell does he do anymore to cause him “exhaustion.” He walked away from $50 million for his highly rated tv show and now does occasional standup work. Big freakin deal. If Oprah said she was exhausted I’d believe that one, with her building african children schools, tv show, charity events, blah, blah…. But Dave Chapelle doesn’t do anything. Get a freaking nine to five Chapelle and raise a couple of kids and then come back to me and we’ll talk about what is classified as “exhaustion.”

Stock Suffers, But Mostly In Silence
By its own measures, everything looks good at ACA Capital Holdings, a financial management and insurance company. But other numbers do not look so good, and the stock price is falling rapidly. The company will not comment on what is going on. In New York Stock Exchange trading yesterday, ACA shares fell 22 percent, dropping $1.87, to $6.59, on the heaviest volume in the company’s brief history. The shares have lost a third of their value since Thursday, and are trading at less than half of their value a month ago. ACA has written billions of dollars worth of insurance on the value of financial assets, and it manages collateralized debt obligations, or C.D.O.’s — investment vehicles that invest in bonds backed by risky mortgages and other debt — on billions more. Some of the C.D.O.’s it manages for others were mentioned by bond rating agencies last week as candidates for downgrading. But it is not clear how much pain ACA could suffer from the subprime market.
