I'm a bit of a magazine junkie - really, they are an integral part of my pre-shopping plans. And I until recently I'd spend a fortune at Borders stocking up on international magazines, but not any more, now that I have discovered how much cheaper they are to buy subscriptions over the internet.

I really don't know when I'll get to the current issues. I stay home alright, but I also do chores in the house. There's just not enough time. The only time I indulge in the glossy womens and fashion magazines is when I’m browsing at a bookstore or when I’m at my hairdressers. I find them too expensive to purchase monthly otherwise, even with a subscription. This is especially when I particularly enjoy reading the international editions of magazines like Cosmopolitan and InStyle and Lucky. I love Allure and Lucky and they cost a bomb here.
I once thought to sign up for magazine subscriptions direct from the USA as it appeared to save me some money. However, at the time the exchange rate was not in my favour and I did not have a credit card then so it was out of the question.
However, I have now been invited by Magazine Agent to do a review on their site which has to do with magazines and I’m absolutely amazed at their low prices! Take shopping and fashion magazine Lucky for example. The subscription for 12 issues costs just $15 ($1.25 per issue) which is a huge 57% saving off the newsstand price.

Chronicles Magazine is a journal of culture published in Rockford, IL. It is affectionately dubbed “paleoconservative” by its readers and contributors and dubbed the same by its detractors. Seventeen magazine is a really great periodical and is one of our favorite teen magazines at MagMall’s magazine subscription service. Alternative Press Magazine is a music magazine available for yearly magazine subscriptions and is based in Cleveland, Ohio. The magazine primarily focuses on the different genres of rock music including punk, emo, metal, indie rock, ska and hardcore and also provides its readers with band interviews and photos, information on upcoming releases and music charts.
Alternative Press Magazine was founded in 1985 by Mike Shea (who is the current president). The first issue was just a photocopied fanzine that was distributed at concerts in Cleveland beginning in June of 1985 due to the fact that Mike Shea could no longer stand the music being played on radio stations and believed that bands playing underground music should be given more media coverage all in the same spot, he said.
With the growth of alternative and punk music in the early 1990s, circulation began to increase and bands such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and Nine Inch Nails were featured on their covers before e

The paranormal magazine market in the UK is dominated by Fortean Times Magazine. This magazine, Beyond, is very much going after the same kind of market, but has failed miserably. It is very glossy and full of over used and publicized pictures. But that does not make a good magazine all the time. The first thing that I would say is that the subjects covered in this first edition are given a very POP and or shallow treatment. If you are someone who is very deeply interested in this subject then you are not so very likely to discover anything new or unique what so ever. In fact, many of the images in the magazine are from the Fortean Times

“When it comes to investing, consider magazine subscriptions,” says consumer advocate George Kaplan. Not only do they contain valuable advice, they may even be a tax-deductible expense (consult with an accountant or tax preparer). And the way to save money on magazine subscriptions is to use an online magazine subscription service.
Kaplan recommends magazines over books for several reasons.
First and foremost, the information is always more up to date.
Second, magazines have greater incentive to be accurate: they want you to buy additional copies in the future, either on a newsstand or by subscription.
Three investment magazines stand out from the rest, according to Kaplan:
Forbes magazine, published by Forbes, is one of the oldest and best, although a recent redesign reduced the emphasis on investments in favor of more broad topics related to family finances.
Kiplingers magazine is another venerable entry (it started in 1947) that devotes most of its content to investin
Visitors love interaction, especially a personable approach at gaining their attention and spiking their interests. Increasing the overall readership of your blog revolves primarily around content, accessibility and presentation. In an attempt to gain return readers and possibly subscribers, use Comment Relish.Comment relish is a Wordpress plugin developed to send an e-mail message to users who comment on your website who have never commented before. The message dispatched to the user is defined within the plugin’s preferences. Numerous tags have been integrated to allow for information to be included in the message easily (I.E.: timestamp, author name, comment, ETC.).The way I use it is to thank commenters for their feedback and remind them of the subscription options. I don’t track how many people take it up but I think the thank you alone is well worth it.http://www.justinshattuck.com/comment-relish/
I have decided to mix in a new feature in our magazine subscriptions blog called “Magazine Histories” where I will showcase some magazines and describe where they entered the publishing scene. For my very first foray into the historical overview concept, I thought I would cover a magazine I actually read - Forbes Magazine.
It was actually launced 90 years ago in 1917 by B. C. Forbes. He was an immigrant from Scotland who was also a leading business columnist for the more noteworthy Hearst newspapers. When B.C. died in 1954 his son Bruce became the next president. he didn’t manage it too long by comparison because Bruce died about 10 years later in 1964. Malcolm Stevenson Forbes (1917"1990) a man who some say was larger than life became Editor-in-Chief and Publisher around that time.
When Malcolm finally took his final chariot ride and joined his forebears in the place that never wakes, his son Malcolm Stevenson “Steve” Forbes Jr. (also coincidentally his o
There are other problems such as how people interact with your RSS content, but even being able to determine which sources of traffic result in subscribers would be a huge commercial advantage for bloggers, allowing them to focus their efforts on traffic generation strategies that will grow their business. Hamlet Batista has been doing some digging, and has worked out how to track RSS subscribers based upon the source of traffic, and it even works with Feedburner's RSS to Email feature.

The magazine House Beautiful could never be said to be down-to-earth, but sometimes heavenly is a better accolade. When it comes to feeding our nesting urge with larger than life possibilities, and awakening our imaginations with new trends, classic old ideas, and more, House Beautiful fits the bill. As in most home and garden magazines, the photography is fresh and elegant. Often even the advertisements contain great or just plain amusing decorating ideas, such as the star-and-moon painted staircase advertising Sherwin-Williams paints in past issue. Columns full of vibrant ideas and valuable information include Style Beat, News, which illustrated and discussed some contemporary Native American art that Ill try to see, and Scrapbook, which featured clever ideas using paint (also in the same issue).
A Thoughts of Home in a later issue tells of a womans need to move away from a historic, registered house because of divorce, and another talks of abandoned houses and their pull on the imag
In the newest issue of Fine Homebuilding Magazine, there is a fantastic article on improving water pressure in a newly built home (or even in a much older home, as well). The article explains the different methods involved in doing this, including adding a water softener and iron filter, but sometimes this can also decrease the water pressure. Sometimes the pipes in the house are old and corroded due to the accumulation of iron deposits within the pipes themselves.
Im sure that there are a lot of businesses and corporations that would just love to order a subscription to this incredible magazine since it is one of the most highly sought after publications for those of you that love to fix the water pressure in either your new home or on the old home that you purchased. If you have a public library nearby or even a school library, even if you live in a rural area, magazines about home improvement and design like Architectural Record Magazine will still help you in fixing the water

In my last post I talked about using RssFwd to deliver your feed subscriptions by email.RssFwd also has a 'subscribe by email' function to add to your blogs. You can add this to your sidebar or to the bottom of each post. The latter is probably the most useful location, as it is more likely to be noticed by people who are just reading one post, rather than browsing your whole page.Post subscribe button:Clicking on the button takes you to a new page where the feed has been auto-discovered and entered for you. All you need to do is add your email address. You are then returned to the page you subscribed to.Form subscribe Email:It is a quick easy way to add emails subscriptions to your blog. The only reason I decided against using it is because of the statistical tools provided by the service I already use - Feedburner. I will write an article about the Feedburner tools later. traffic, RSS, sueblimely alexa
Conde Nast, the global magazine publisher, kicked off a new campaign recently titled Point of Passion. The advertising features photos of an array of celebrities reading various Conde Nast publications, all with a somewhat forced expression of interest on their face. To lighten up their mood, Gawker had some cut-n-paste fun with copy. The photos included lines like "We'll never leave you for a hotter younger less pregnant subscriber" and "In space no one can hear you scream about our terrible layout". If only advertising was always this comforting.tags technorati : branson celebrities condenast magazine parker wired
[This is part of a series following on from a post called “Business Blog Design“]
RSS is a key element of blogs and for their successful use in business – it is also one of the 5 Rs that I consider to be key to business blogging. This is primarily because of the enormous benefits of what is effectively an instant and very efficient method of distributing information, as well as a great marketing tool.
For publishers, RSS should really have a similar importance as an newsletter sign up box because it gives you the same opportunity to communicate with people who have expressed an interest in what you have to offer. The added benefit is of course that you have an assured method of delivery which is not hampered by email filters and the like.
If gaining loyal readers (and hence subscribers) to your blog is important - and let’s face it, it is to 95% of business bloggers - then it’s important to consider where it appears on your blog design. Higher up the screen an

So what would Oprah be talking about, and why would I want to read her magazine? It’s not like I have a subscription myself but since we sell it here at the super duper library subscription service known as MagMall I might as well write a few more things about the lady my wife watches every day on TV.
O is a magazine that creates a place to go to kick back and relax. There arent any articles on how to apply the newest makeup craze, how to dress for your man in all the expensive ways, or how to know if your partner is cheating on you. You also wont find all the celebrity gossip or poor-pitiful-me stories.
Why is my O magazine collection waterlogged? Because when it’s time to hide from everybody and relax in the tub, its my reading material of choice. When I’m battle-weary from the day, its the one magazine that says, no, proclaims: Im good enough, Im smart enough, and doggone it, people like me! It helps me rise above the negativity inherent in our do-too-much world an
O The Oprah Magazine has high-quality recurring columns and articles for how to live your best life. O is a positive, uplifting, and (mostly) realistic voice in the magazine wilderness. Surprisingly, most men will relate once they get past the cover. I’m not sure if I’m suggesting that men order magazine subscriptions to Oprah but if you ever see a copy sitting in a reception area or waiting room, you may enjoy reading a current issue. Hey, if you walk into a public library and see a copy floating around, pick it up and see what all the hooplah is about.
Oprah is an inspiring role model for millions of people. I believe that her mission is well-known- to help people live their best possible lives. It’s rare to find another person who so consistently sticks to their “mission” and really change lives talk show after talk show, and magazine issue after magazine issue. If you want to make your life better, live more passionately and meaningfully then The Oprah
Magazine subscriptions to titles like Reader’s Digest include original articles, condensed articles reprinted from other magazines, book excerpts, and collections of jokes, anecdotes, quotations and other short pieces. The magazine’s mission as set out by the Wallaces is to include one article for each day of the month, each of “enduring value and interest.”
Articles in Reader’s Digest cover a range of topics, including politics and government, health, international affairs, business, education and humor. Articles tend to be short to allow busy readers to keep up with a variety of topics without investing too much time. Regular features include “Word Power,” a vocabulary-building quiz; “Life in These United States,” a collection of humorous or profound reader-submitted anecdotes; and “Laughter, the Best Medicine,” a collection of jokes submitted by readers.
Reader’s Digest is regarded as one of the most carefully e
Reader’s Digest is a monthly general interest family magazine that has been available as a magazine subscription for many years. You can order magazine subscriptions to Readers Digest by subscribing online or filling out the postcard that comes in the magazine. Of course you could call a toll-free number like 1-888-ALL-MAGS to order by phone.
Here’s a little background on the magazine. In 2004, the U.S. edition of Reader’s Digest prints 12.5 million copies and reaches thirty-eight million readers each month. Although its circulation has declined in recent years, the Audit Bureau of Circulations says Reader’s Digest is the best-selling general magazine in the United States, exceeded only by the membership publications of AARP. They have a wide readership and often you will find a copy in a company waiting room or reception area or even in a school or public library.
Reader’s Digest is known for a consistent view of the world that is politically conservative
What does the future look like for Alternative Press?
Over the years, if you ordered magazine subscriptions to Alternative Press (even if it was just for a company waiting room or a student getting it at a student discount for school) you would unwittingly have supported a number of unknown new groups who have gone on to mainstream success, such as My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, The All-American Rejects, Panic! at the Disco, the Used, Taking Back Sunday, Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed and Cambria, and others.
Interestingly, Alternative Press magazine was the first national music publication to put Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins and other alternative-rock icons on its covers. At the time of its twentieth anniversary in 2005, AP had grown to an average size of 112 pages an issue and now averages 220-plus pages a month.
The magazine’s monthly columns include:
The AP Poll
In The Studio
AP&R (Unsigned bands of the month)
Chalkboard Confessional

Here’s a new type of blog post where we cover some interesting magazines that we offer through our online magazine subscription service. One of the popular titles ordered through our library subscription service is Alternative Press (or AP). If you have a waiting room or reception area, this music magazine based in Cleveland, Ohio primarily focuses on the different genres of rock music including punk, emo, metal, indie rock, ska, and hardcore and providing readers with band interviews and photos, information on upcoming releases, and music charts.
It was founded in 1985 by Mike Shea, who is the current president. The first issue of AP was just a photocopied fanzine, distributed at concerts in Cleveland beginning in June of 1985 by AP’s founder, Mike Shea, who could no longer stand the music being played on radio stations and believed that bands playing underground music should be given more media coverage “all in the same spot”, he said.

ESPN the Magazine, like the industry leader in sports television that created it, is big, bold and brash like most of the athletes that it portrays and it uses its oversize format to show off very striking full page images and splashy sidebars. When we sell magazine subscriptions to ESPN through our online magazine subscription service we know that subscribers come from a variety of backgrounds like libraries, students, consumers, professionals and teachers.
We’ve started including more details about our magazines so that our corporate customers who buy subscriptions for their reception areas or waiting rooms will be more informed. We don’t just want to save you money by offering cheap discount prices, we want you to choose the right magazines.
Contributors to the magazines include familiar on-air talent such as Dan Patrick, Chris Berman, Stuart Scott, Rich Eisen, Linda Cohn, Peter Gammons, John Clayton and many others (including the athletes themselves).

We covered a lot of ground on magazine subscription services in the last few weeks and spent a good amount of time describing how we sell magazines to different customers like libraries, students, individual consumers and businesses. The cool part about selling magazines - even corporate subscriptions - is that not only can we help subscribers save money because we’ve got cheap discount magazines, but we get to offer a wide variety of popular titles at the same time.
One of the more popular titles is ESPN (the magazine), formerly an abbreviation of Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, is published bi-weekly and owned by an American cable television network dedicated to broadcasting mostly sports-related programming twenty-four hours a day. The company was founded by Scott Rasmussen and his father Bill Rasmussen, along with Donny Stanley and his son Cardell and was first launched on September 7, 1979 with the show SportsCenter (which aired its 25,000th episode on Augus
The question is how to get people to subscribe to your RSS feed? It’s an excellent question and actually one that I am still working on my self. Just a quick observation of the blogs in comparison to mine that are around two months old I feel that the amount of subscriptions are going quite well so far but I want to increase them past the sky. The first thing you should ask yourself is do you have content that is actually worth subscribing to because if not why would you even expect someone to subscribe to it and want to read it.
If you’ve notice I have placed my RSS feed subscription button up top. A problem that I have noticed on some blogs that I have reviewed lately is that they are placing their buttons at the bottom of their blogs or in the midst of a pile of colt err that would take weeks to find like damn contact emails that seem impossible to find on some blogs.
Do not be afraid to promote your feed with an image that people can see like my RSS Desperati
