Democratic Congressman Admits That Democrats 'Stretched the Facts" to Anti-war Supporters in 2006
Cross posted from Wake up America Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-PA) admits, on camera, that the Democrats "stretched the facts" about their capability of ending the war in Iraq and that anybody that "was a good student of Government" would have known it wasn't true but the "temptation to want to win back the Congress" made them stretch the facts and "people ate

      All Stretched Out
So if you haven’t noticed, I’ve decided to go single-column style for this blog because I was “inspired” by Matt Thomas’s blog and I also have been thinking of removing the use of categories altogether for this blog, so that big ol’ empty space would’ve look weird without some text warmth. That means not only are [...]

Would a rope stretched from one side of the continent to the other bend?
indeed it would bend. The curvature of the planet alone would prevent youfrom pulling it into a straight line. Even if you had a perfectly flat 4000 mile distance, however, the weight of the rope alone would cause it to sag. On such a long span, even a very small force in thecenter will be sufficient to do this. On much shorter distances, this effect is important in certain roperescue systems known as highlines, and the matter has been studied. Refer to "Life on a Line, 2ndedition" page 171. There you will find the catenary equation: Y = (T/w) * cosh where Y is the vertical sag at distance X from the center point T is the horizontal component of tension in the rope w is the weight per unit length of the rope X is the horizontal distance along the rope

      Shaq’s Lambo Gets Stretched
If your name is Shaquille O’Neal, you might wonder what could go wrong in your life? Well, Shaq’s latest problem was his Lamborghini Gallardo which had to be modified by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, so that the 7.1 feet NBA superstar could feel more confortable in it. The Gallardo received custom extended doors, roof and side windows. The challenge was also to keep the car’s “visual integrity” with the changes. Glass fabrication was a particular challenge, so the company relied on their aerospace and coachworks divisions to make sure Shaq could fit in the car. And they did a great job, and the Lambo still looks normal, even if its now 12 inches longer. I imagine Shaq having a “Pimp my ride” reaction “ohh my good, thank you X, thanks Gaffoglio for pimping my ride”. (more…)

Wa-wo-wee-wa: Shaquille O'Neal's 'stretched' Lamborghini Gallardo
Shaquille O'Neal, better known as Shaq, received special customizations on his Lamborghini Gallardo today. The star of the Miami Heat needed some length onto his Gallardo and felt uncomfortable when squeezing his 7-foot-1 body into the tiny little interior the Gallardo offered. Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, a well-known supplier to big companies such as Boeing and PPG Aerospace Glass, added 12 inches of length in the middle of his Gallardo.[Source: Edmunds]Continued- ArticleLengthened custom doors, roof and side windows were added to maximise the interior space of the car, while maintaining its 'visual integrity'. Glass fabrication was a big challenge for them and they relied on their aerospace and coachworks division to make everything right. Well, sure enough, not many could detect a trace of difference between the original Gallardo and the Shaq-ified custom version. It certainly looks appealing to us and we wouldn't mind cruising around the 'stretched' Gallardo ourselves.

Sen. John Kerry may have Stretched the truth about Embryonic Stem Cells during Senate Debate
During the Senate’s debate on federal funding of stem cell research it seems as though John Kerry may have twisted the truth a little bit. He spoke about a mouse being cured in Massachusetts using embryonic stem cells. There was a couple of problems with his statements though. One is that the mouse was never cured from an immune system problem, it’s immune system  was partially restored. The second issue was that the stem cell were not embryonic cells they were adult stem cells. Now either he was ignorant of the facts in this case or he deliberately mis-represented the facts of the case to further his agenda. Either way, it doesn’t matter, it still makes him look bad. Either he spoke on an issue without the facts or he lied. Which is worse?  Giving his history, like coming back from Veitnam and testifying that he saw American soldiers torturing people when he never actually saw this activity, I know which option I’m going with in his latest Senate debate.

      Stretched Ferrari Limo
Seems like a shame to chop up such a nice car… But I guess the rich and famous must have the best of the best, and how else would you and five of your friends get to ride in a Ferrari at the same time? Video after the jump. “To determine the optimum stretch length of the conversion, and to account for a further six passengers whilst retaining minimum deflection of the body structure. The stiffness and overall weight increase of the conversion will determine how the vehicle performs under acceleration, braking and cornering. It is recognized due to the increase in wheelbase the vehicle dynamic cornering ability will be affected. The existing chassis is an AA6063T6 extruded alloy with an AA6022T6 floor which has undergone a Cataphoresis process to prevent corrosion. The new chassis will replicate the sections of the extruded alloy, but will be made from 12k carbon fibre reinforcement with a high modulus epoxy resin. The laminate is engineered to give maximum stiffness t

The Wall Shelf 30x24 oils on stretched canvas
Wall Shelf30 x 24", Oils on stretched canvas$1800 unframed via PayPal, free shipping within US (email me for international rates) It's finally just about finished! This painting is on gallery wrapped canvas, with the sides painted to look like part of the shelf, so it does not require a frame. It was painted so that when the canvas hangs on a wall, it will look like a wall shelf is mounted on the wall. I'll post a picture of it like that once it's dry enough to hang. It will need one more day of tweaking here and there, but those details won't show much in this online image. I'll post a better photo without the glare in the upper left once it's done, and will post some more detail pictures too. The camera angle was a little off, so the lowest shelf looks slanted, but that's just the photo. This was a really wonderful project to paint, but I must confess I am glad that it will be off my easel! You can expect some smaller paintings from me in the next week. *big grin* This paintin

Hem on my knit jersey t-shirt is stretched out posted by michellep74
I just attempted my first knit jersey project--a simple t-shirt (using View B from Simplicity 4023). It looked and fit great (including sleeves and neckline) until I got to the hem...which somehow got all stretched out when I hemmed it. (I used my machine's "stretch stitch" on everything.) Although I pre-washed/dryed the fabric, I'm hoping that washing it and throwing it in the dryer will help, but if it doesn't, does anyone have any hints/tips to rescue the shirt? Also, any hints or tips for avoiding this in the future? (Other than the hem, I really like how the shirt came out and would like to make more of them.) Thanks! -- Edited on 7/26/07 5:31 PM --Last post by mikkim at Fri 27 Jul 2007 01:58:01 PM Total posts: 10 Visit PatternReview.com to read this entire topic.Research Janome Sewing Machines, Sergers and Coverstitch Machines at PatternReview.com.
