      Stormy Weather
This was Sunday, a mile or so down the lane to the beach, blue sky, sun. This little van sits hidden away just above the sand...the van I am living in is a little bigger than this but this one is so sweet, what a great place for summer nights. Anyway Sunday was just that, Sun day and overnight Monday became Storm day. The caravan rocks and shakes, fences fly about like bits of paper and the cows are looking fed up...we have storms, the electric keeps on going and the TV has lost its sound so I think this evening it must be candles and a good book, almost as romantic as the little red van down the road...tomorrow I will post pictures of my new home.

      Stormy Weather
In this area of Florida, even though there are four seasons, it sometimes feels like three: Spring, Summer, Fall. The leaves seem to start falling in November and stop in March. Just because it doesn't usually freeze here in the winter does not mean one should throw safety to the side. One thing people do not consider is that the precipitation comes in the form of our rainy season. Aside from just a week or two in the winter, the boats are on the rivers. Many people come to the area to see manatees near the springs. If you know your boat won't come back until dusk, or you are boating during the July/August rainy season, boat spotlights might be something you want to consider. The rain usually only lasts an hour or two some afternoons, but it really comes down. Visitors

Dividend Increase: Devoted Friend In A Stormy Market
While feeling a little helpless during the recent market tailspin, it’s comforting to know that we can still count on many stocks to raise their dividends, as they always have been. My second anniversary as a dividend investor is coming up in Feburary, but boy, so far the reality is panning out just as all the dividend investing books said: scoop up rock-solid businesses with histories of raising dividends when they’re cheap. Pretty simple, really. It’s time for another update on my portfolio. 2 months ago I reported a 22.7% distribution increase from North West Company income fund, however 4 more stocks have energized my passive income since: Power Financial – 7.7% (25% from last year) Telus – 20% (20% from last year) Yellow Pages – 3.7% (9.7% from last year) Boston Pizza Royalty Fund – 1.8% (5.5% from last year) Pampered between a rent freeze and dividend increases, I can get used to this.

Overcast Days, Dark and Stormy Nights
Like a cheap novel, the days turned dark quite quickly. The plot moves on toward unmistakably dreary November weather. Not my favorite time of year, even though each season has its beauty if you are willing to make yourself aware of it. The suddenly cool and damp weather is the more acutely felt since we had the "heat wave" of this past month, and no one is yet acclimated to the cooler temperatures. It is warm cider and hot chocolate weather, curl up with a sweater and book weather, with that unique must and acrid smell of wet fallen leaves when out walking.=======I have some tulip bulbs that I must yet plant, at the first break from falling rains I have to muster up the motivation to dig them into their cozy winter beds. The leaves are just now dropping from the trees in large amounts, so the the fall raking is still ahead, and the final round up of yard furniture and tools, final major mowing... all need to be done. Actually I am glad it is time to put away the garden for this year,

      After Stormy Days
After days of some serious downpour, the weather has finally calmed. And I know it’s pretty selfish to say that I wish it was still raining, especially with all the serious damage it can do, but I can’t help but long for more days of rest. Today, I woke up a little less enthusiastic to be greeted by a much brighter sky. Luckily, I was able to sleep for a little bit more than eight hours. That felt good. Once again, the week came by way too swiftly. And because I have so many things to prepare and accomplish, I hardly had time to acknowledge any more kinds of emotional relapses. In fact, it’s been pretty good. One day at a time, I guess. Blessed with this ‘free day,’ I’m off to finish all the things I have to do. Next week is going to be crazy. BlueREP deadlines, groupworks for ALL my subjects, midterms, papers and quite possibly a lot more things in between that might lead me to the brink of even more stress. I wonder if turning 20 makes it any

Well last night our place was shakin'. A line of storms came through. We were under a tornado watch all afternoon until midnight and at just about 10:30 pm, the storm hit. Steve and I had taken Zoe for a late dinner after graduation and we got home about 9:30 pm. I went out to the girls and removed their fly masks and the wind had been kickin' up all day. They were nervous. We were about to crawl into bed at about 10:30 and suddenly the house shook and Steve looked outside and all I heard was, "Holy crap, turn off the computers!!" Me, already in just a t-shirt and underwear looked out the window and then ran to the computers. The rain was a complete sheet of white at a right angle. The trees as well. I scrambled for my boots and jeans. Steve was already downstairs and Zoe too. Spot, the border collie was hiding in my closet and the other dogs and cats were under our feet. Now, mind you, we live in a converted barn. This place is over 100 years old and post and beam. No nails. It w

Stormy v. Menu Foods, Update 4/13/07
This story was DIGGED from Gather.com by Briane P. April 13, 2007 09:44 AM EDT This is a timely day for an update, as it’s Stormy’s birthday. (That’s not something I remember; I was reminded of it by the family.) We took Stormy, and Herman and Scruffy, in for checkups yesterday. The local news, WMTV, came and reported on that. You can see the video here. The good news is that Herman and Scruffy have no symptoms at all. The bad news is that Stormy will probably need ongoing checkups for the rest of her life. This morning, I took the vet bill and forwarded it to the lead counsel for the defense. Three of the four defendants have been served, and two of them (the retailers, Woodman’s and Wal-Mart) have tendered the defense to Iams. (”Tendering the defense” is the act of telling someone further down the line of liability — usually an insurer but not always — that they have to handle the case and keep you from harm.) I’ve spok

      Stormy Inside And Out
It’s spooky outside. The sky is pale and the air is warm and still, punctuated by sharp blasts of wind. The television blares announcements and warnings. Schools are getting out early in advance of the bad weather bearing down upon us. Conditions are ripe for severe tornadoes like the F5 that hit just west of us one night in April 1998. Thirty-two-people were killed. I was pregnant with the twins, and Finn was two. Bill herded our dogs into the damp unfinished basement where we huddled uncomfortably. Finn kept slipping off my rounded belly as I sat in a moldy lawn chair. At one point Bill grabbed a golf club and brought it down sharply behind my head. I turned and saw a severed snake, the ends still wiggling. Tornadoes here take a predictable track, and that one stayed on the ground for a long time. We listened to the radio as it hit the counties southwest of us and continued toward us. I remember the sheriff of one town saying, “In the morning when we can see th

It was a dark and stormy weekend
We had a rough weekend. It rained/drizzled both days and was cold (for Phoenix). Saturday, neither AtHomeHubby or I felt like even leaving the house - so we didn't. Cabin fever was rampant - AtHomeHubby slept until noon, after a long Friday night shift at the restaurant. By the time he got up - I was pretty frustrated with the kids - needless to say, we were just glad for bedtime.Yesterday was better - we went to the gym (I haven't lost any more, but I'm holding steady) and the grocery store, watched football, AtHomeHubby went to work at 5:00, I made chili - and, OH YEAH - DramaQueen became obsessed with the potty. We bought a kid sized potty seat for DramaQueen, and also put her in pull ups. She really seems to like the following pattern. 1. Put on new pull-up2. Play for a while3. Go potty in the pull up4. Declare that she needs to go potty5. Sit on potty6. Declare, "I POTTY!!! Yea!!"7. Flush lots of toilet paper8. RepeatI think she actually went once - but, as AtHomeH
