      Sprung Judo Floor
Everyone at our judo club has a little more spring to their step, literally. Over two weekends, some of our members built and assembled a sprung floor using used car tires, lumber, and plywood. The basic construction is that a frame was built around the whole area, tires were layed out in the frame, 2x4s were layed on top of the tires, plywood covered all the 2x4s, then the judo mats were arranged

"-HUDSACKER- DER GROSSE SPRUNG" o El gran salto!! de los Coen.
Acabo de terminar de ver esta película de los hermanos Coen y tengo que decir que me ha gustado mucho. Está ambientada a finales de los 50 en el Nueva York de Wall Street. Sin duda alguna la historia es ficticia, pero menciona y habla de temas que me parecen interesantes, y lo hacen de forma cómica y traviesa con ese humor tan característico que hace de los Cohen unos directores diferentes al

      Spring has sprung!
Yeah, it’s been spring officially for awhile. With all this warm weather lately, it’s almost as if we’ve skipped spring altogether and went straight for summer. Anyway, I noticed on my way in from the bus this morning that we have our firt tulip! I love tulips. They are my second favorite flower, behind daisies. It’s in a bit of a precarious place, appearing to be intertwined with the rose bush that’s planted out front. I took a couple of pics to share.

      Spring Has Sprung
It’s that time of year. The weather’s warming. The birds are nesting. The garden’s calling. Cold weather crops are well underway. Seedlings are put outside for a few hours a day to start hardening. When they all come back inside, there’s hardly a flat surface free. Time to seriously think about the benefits of a small greenhouse. Also time [...]

It seems that Spring has finally arrived in New Hampshire. We spent some time at the park last night to let Lani get some fresh air after being trapped in the yucky ER all afternoon. Thanks so much to everyone for the prayers and well wishes. Lani was so much better today with no yucky diapers. It was hard, but I made her stay away from the soy milk. Spring is sprung
Today was a working from home day. This morning was so cold I had to put the heater on as I sat at my desk and my hands turned blue! When the sun is out it is a pretty nice day. This afternoon turned so warm that I had to turn off the heater and open the window (go figure). I took a break from working to go and have a quick wander in the garden. Sadly necessary. As my desk is in the bedroom

      Spring Has Sprung
In Edmonton, Spring is now officially here. The pods covering my pussy willow tree burst this week, and the pussy willows are now blooming a sure sign spring is here. Pussy Willow branch with catkins in early spring Today we turned our clocks back to Mountain Daylight Time another sign of spring, and it came a week early due to the alignment with the Americans.Yesterday and today I drank beer on the outdoor patio at my corner pub, a sure sign of spring. People watching I saw someone wearing shorts and the motorcycles were out. Spring is here, though not officially until March 21, which this year coincides with Good Friday. So we actually get a day off to celebrate the return and resurrection of the Sun, and the end of winter. Which after all is what Easter is all about. Not surprisingl

You can click on the picture and you will see the tiny red flowers just by the buds. Both pictures were taken from the same place, the wooded area in front of my house. The weather has been really mild this winter and am sure many gardeners will be suprised to be seeing plants in flower several weeks ahead from when they would normally, like these dasies in the grass. To date I havn't seen many insects, so plants that are in flower now probably won't get pollinated, resulting in less fruit later on

      Sprung a Leak
We almost didn't do a final walk through. These buyers were suppose to get possession of the house they were buying 5 days in advance of closing. That would have allowed them to move at a leisurely pace and then a day of cleaning up for the new owners of their house. At the last minute the seller reneged! And in the panic of fast paced packing, the sellers almost declined the opportunity to walk through the house one last time before they owned it. "But what if they are refusing early possession because they have something to hide," my client asked? So we all jumped in our cars, drove to Mt. Morris and exercised our right for a final walk through. It is a good thing we did.The primary purpose of a final walk through is to make sure the property is in the same condition as when the purchase offer was accepted. In addition, a typical sales contract calls for heating, electrical, plumbing, and other systems as well as included appliances to be in working order at the time of closi

Spring has sprung in the south of France
We seemed to go directly from Autumn to Spring this year in the Pyrenees and the fruit trees have already started to flower as you can see. Something of a disasterous year for the ski-ing, at least for us, as we’d have needed to go much farther than usual to find snow. Having said that, we’re incredibly lazy with the ski resorts and don’t look for anything much further than 90 minutes or so drive. If we were a bit more keen, we could have ventured further afield and went to one of the higher altitude resorts though going by the snow on Canigou, they had a much shorter than normal season too At the current rate of going, I don’t think we’ll ever finish off the heating oil that we bought two years ago! We’ve not had that much in the way of wind (usually the thing that really chills things down locally). Even the river running through the village has never filled up this year and we never had to take the long way round to avoid the flooded bridge. The

      Spring has sprung
Today, at exactly 6:19pm EST, spring officially begins. We are a mere four hours away as I write this. I love the beginning of spring, not only because it symbolizes a departure from the cold (I live in Houston, after all), but because it represents a renewed sense of energy. The winter blahs are behind us and we suddenly evolve into more social beings as our calendars fill with barbeques, rounds of golf, and social outings with friends. It is the perfect time to wake ourselves up and spread our energy to those around us. One of the greatest gifts we can give to others is a sense of adventure, a desire to experience life at its extremes. We must physically remove ourselves from a rut and venture out into the unknown. This doesn't necessarily equate to jumping off cliffs or running with bulls; finding adventure in the little things is what keeps life from ever becoming dull. With the dawn of spring, adopt an adventurous outlook. Let the creativity flow, and most importantly, bring
