I am not a big fan of spiders, especially when they are bigger than one centimeter, but below that size I keep them running and climbing around the house. I’ve been doing quite a bit of housework today and I’m still doing the washing. I have washed a lot of the curtains etc and after the current load is finished I think I will strip off the sofa and put the covers in there. As I was taking down the kitchen curtains I saw this mammoth of a spider dangling outside and I just had to take a photo of it: I hate spiders, so getting up close to it my heart was going like crazy, as soon as I took the pic I ran away and let my dad deal with it, he thrown it in the garden. Seeing the image pretty much full screen when I put it on the laptop made me shiver. Urgh. I don’t know what it is I hate about spiders so much?? This Halloween craft is incredibly easy and the kids really seem to get a kick out of it. You most likely have all the necessary supplies on hand, scattered throughout your house: an egg carton, crayons or markers, colorful pipe cleaners, scissors and a thick sewing needle. Optional items could include paint or googly eyes. **These spiders have seen a lot of trauma from the sometimes-not-so-gentle hands of toddlers. Please excuse their overly bent legs.** 1. First you need to separate one or more cups from an egg carton. 2. Next, using a thick sewing needle or scissors, make 8 small holes (4 on each side) on the base of the cup. 3. Then insert four, 4-6 inch piece pipe cleaners into the holes for legs. 4. Draw on a face and decorate the body. Tom Buchanan of Australia set a new world record for having the most spiders on his body for 30 seconds.  When it was all said and done he had a total of 125 Golden Orb spiders on his body for about 55 seconds.  I am not terrified of spiders, but there is no way I would let that many just crawl around on my body for almost a minute.

Spider & Net Pendant $180How ingenious that somebody would think of making spider and spider web necklaces! Butterflies, dragon flies, birds...sure, they are pretty. But spiders?! I wouldn't have thought of it. But look at this set, it is exquisite and positively cool! It's supposed to be a lovers' matching pendants because a spider and its web are insaperable.
