This is very much a partner made board and you can tell it's got the dual color DVI ports used by a fair few partners these days to distinguish between the HDMI and non-HDMI enabled DVI port. The 9800 GTS doesn't support 3-Way SLI, due to the single SLI connector, and it looks like a clear message from Nvidia: 3-Way SLI is only for the top of the

Travel photography expert Doug McKinlay reveals all about using camera shutter speeds to achieve different effectsView Doug McKinlay's shutter speed gallery and read on to find out how to get the same resultsWith lower-priced digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras flooding the market in the past couple of years photography has probably never been so popular. However, just because cameras have come down in price doesn’t mean they are any easier to use. Whether people still shoot film or have made the digital jump, the basic nuts and bolts of photography remain the same.I see so many people outfitted with the latest DSLR’s who still shoot on automatic or program mode. Speed up Torrent speeds
XP SP2 limits teh number of TCP Connections to maximum of 10. This is supposed to slow down virus multiplication as their (of many) strategy of viral growth is to connect to a high amount of IPs. This could also limit the max simultaneous connections needed for Torrent downloads.. First, download the Patch for changing max TCP connections from here [ EventID 4226 Patcher Version 2.23d-english]. Change the value to a value between 50-100.. Next, uTorrent: Options > Preferences > Advanced options > net.max_halfopen and increase it from 10 to a decent value like 80..

News: Action urged on broadband speeds
Customers should be informed of actual speeds, the panel said Action should be taken over consumers' concerns about broadband connection speeds, a watchdog has said. The Ofcom Consumer Panel said speeds advertised as "up to" a certain level end up being much slower in reality. The panel said there needed to be a code of practice so broadband customers get proper information about speeds. The Advertising Standards Authority should look at how companies advertise broadband speeds and encourage them to explain why they can vary, it added. Clear information Research earlier this year found that customers who had signed up for speeds advertised as up to eight megabits a second were often getting something only as third as fast. The panel said customers should be allowed out of their contract if the actual speed is a l

So it turns out there is a second Internet for the real important people behind our technological advancements. And today they have hit record breaking speeds of 100 gbps. Researchers are predicting that it will hit 10x that in the near future. We all ready knew Asia was light years ahead of us, bandwidth wise - but if we have the technology for it, how can I get connected at 100 gbps??How does that make you feel? Stop drooling... It wont help you with your Bangbus or "Dental Assistants Gone Wild" torrents, it is actually reserved for people who actually do the stuff you can't comprehend. NASCAR slows COT speeds on second day of Talladega test
TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — NASCAR slowed speeds Tuesday on the Car of Tomorrow at Talladega Superspeedway, where only half the field topped 190 m.p.h on the second day of the test session. With a smaller restrictor-plate, only 27 drivers went over 190. Paul Menard turned the fastest lap of the day at 193.045 mph in a Chevrolet. Speeds reached 196 m.p.h on Monday, and 44 drivers topped 190."We have the tools to slow them down. NASCAR did a good job with that," driver Ryan Newman said. "Basically we're just acclimating the car to the race track."The CoT is being phased into competition this season, and it will make its restrictor-plate race debut at Talladega in October. That event is also in the Chase for the Nextel Cup championship.NASCAR experimented with several restrictor-plate packages and wicker setups, and there didn't seem to be many complaints about the car's handling."It drives like it's on a rail," Carl Edwards said. "We have to work on the visibility through the cars. You ca

Go get your better download speeds and stop absorbing all those evil radio waves. Hmmm Better speeds and less radiation! What a concept. Thanks Cr.Eations.Net, Linda and Jason for the nfo. (By the way what do you guys think of our random quotes??)For me it's been quite obvious but I am surprised how many iPhone owners I see complaining about EDGE speeds when they're covering the antenna (that black plastic area on the back of the

Understanding how multimedia playback moderates network transfer speeds
Mark Russinovich, one of our Technical Fellows and a prominent member of the Windows community, posted today on a topic that's received much discussion in the past few days -- that being the manner in which Windows Vista throttles network traffic on gigabit Ethernet networks when the user is engaged in multimedia playback. As Mark puts it, "many people have correctly surmised that the degradation in network performance during multimedia playback is directly connected with mechanisms employed by the Multimedia Class Scheduler Service (MMCSS), a feature new to Windows Vista."  This throttling of network traffic is mainly apparent on networks with infrastructure allowing gigabit throughput and is experienced by a user receiving, as opposed to sending, data. The explanation is quite technical and rather esoteric, but the gist is that when receiving data on faster networks, the number of system interrupts is increased and because network-driven system interrupts are handled at higher

NZ Broadband speeds up while uptake slowing
Early this month, Statistics New Zealand released the Internet Service Providers Survey from March 2007, providing fresh information on broadband usage in New Zealand. Key to the report is the finding that more Broadband users are on faster download speeds, with 2 - 10Mps now the most common speed (as at 31st March 2007), a shift from the previous six months where 512kbs - 2Mbps was the predominant download speed. The Broadband vs Dial-up battle is tipped to switch soon with 739,000 subscribers on dial-up (down 4.1% from six months earlier) and 724,600 using broadband (up 18.5%). On the email front, 98.4% of Internet subscribers have now adopted email filtering products from their ISP (including both free and charged). The next instalment of the Internet Service Provider Survey will be released in March 2008. Looking to get connected? Find NZ Internet Service Providers in the NZS.com directory. Share This

LG SH150 New HDSPA Phone: reach download speeds of up to 7.2MBps
This is the LG SH150 which is a new HDSPA phone from LG that features download speeds of up to 7.2MBps which is faster than many DSL connections. This kind of technology shows just how cell phones have really moved on and how they are becoming a vital tool in keeping you connected to everyone on the move at the highest possible data speeds. Features on the LG SH150 phone include Bluetooth, a media player, an e-dictionary, support for DMB and much more. If you take a quick look you could mistake it for the LG KG800 Chocolate phone, but it’s not and instead an imitation in looks. Not sure what you think, but it would have been nice for this new phone to take on a new look rather than copy other LG phones. Experimenting With Long Shutter Speeds
I went out to photograph a bit this morning with an aim towards experimenting. I wanted to try out a new 'gadget' that I just purchased (though, given the {over}price, I hardly think it could be called a mere gadget).I am speaking of the Singh-Ray Vari ND Variable Neutral Density Filter. This rather unique filter lets you 'dial in' a neutral density 'strength' of up to 8 stops. Today, I gave it a whirl with flowing water. This image is shot at f16 with a 1 minute exposure using the filter dialed up pretty near to its max:Copyright Howard GrillThis, of course, was a quick first time out and a very obvious use for nature imaging. If you think about it, lots of possible ideas come to mind: water with swirling autumn leaves, snow, rain, imprssionistic blowing flowers, urban images with ghostlike moving people, cars, trains etc, smeared out clouds, surf ...the more I think the more ideas I come up with.As I use it I will post some more examples.....I just think it is going to tur

So long, ScottHa. You thought the F1 spying saga was over? Think again. The new hearing will take place in Paris at the end of August, meaning at least two more Grand Prixs will now take place with the shadow of a possible McLaren punishment hanging over them.Elsewhere, Scuderia Torro Rosso have finally had enough of Scott Speed. The US has now lost its F1 race and only F1 driver in the space of a few weeks. Ouch.
