With today’s slumping economy and extremely high gas prices, spammers are using this time for self gain by exploiting computer users through messages using inherent economic terms. The current economic terms that people will pay more attention too are ones such as "free gas", "gas cards", "get more miles per gallon out of your car” and "lower your mortgage now". During America’s hard economi

Spammers get a hold of e-mail addresses in roughly a zillion ways. When you buy something at a small, lesser-known online store there's a decent chance they will sell your address to spammers. Even if it's a big, reputable store that gets your cash, the store's records could still be stolen or leaked. Sign up for a newsletter? Your address could certainly get sold. Ever write comments in blogs or
Ever wondered how all those spam reached your inbox despite you not submitting your id to any webform ever? Chances are that you have a web page of your own in which you have openly disclosed your email address and was preyed on by all those spam bots. So how to avoid it? Simple answer would be not to have a web page at all. Since that is not feasible (ok.. sorry!) the next best thing would be n
Blogs are now an extremely popular and important part of the internet. Millions of people blog every day. As blogs have evolved over the years, so has the commenting system. Unfortunately because of an increase in spammers leaving bogus comments on the blog, I have had to take the dreaded step of adding word verification to the comments. I hate having to do that on other people's blogs, so I apologize that I am asking you to do it as well. I only want your amazing feedback, ideas, suggestions and questions and I don't want to dilute the content with unwanted spam. If it turns out that the comments really start to suffer from this then I will reverse it and just keep manually deleting the spam as it appears. For those that don’t know what the heck I am talking about, what this means is that when you leave a comment from now on, it will ask you to type in some letters/ numbers in a box first to make sure you are a human and not some spam. It only takes a few
I've watched with a bemused detachment as the myth that Spammers and Credit Farmers are destroying Entrecard crops up here and there in the community. There's no denying that it's irritating to arrive on an Entrecarder's site that is just one big ad or is clearly a "made ya look" site. What's boggles my mind is why some folks keep harping on Credit Farmers with such vigor, even after the Entrecard security system closed down the ability for bots to hunt and drop, and limitations were put into place that restricted the number of drops that were allowable per IP address. I've asked the question in the Forums and I'll ask it again here: Where's the proof that Credit Farmers are a threat to Entrecard? I suppose that if the threat is a theoretical one, based on the idea that shrewd entrepreneu

I get a handful of people signing up to follow me on Twitter each week. It’s kind of flattering (Some one cares what I think!) but it also occurred to me that following people is a pretty good Guerilla marketing tactic. Why? Because when you sign up to follow someone, they get an email that you’re following them. If you’re using Twitter, you’re probably using social networking and are curious to about who’s paying attention to you so you’re going to click on the link to check them out. And bang! You just played right into the hands of a spammer. For a brief moment I thought I’d discovered “Twitter Spam” so I decided to Google Twitter spam and realized someone (or many people) had already discovered it, named it and created a website around it. I’m not kidding. Check o

The Random Pub Finder has a form for suggesting pubs to be added to the database. For a long time, we've had spammers posting lots of dodgy URLs via the form, which is not unexpected, since they think they will get added directly to the database. In fact, the suggestions just get emailed to me, in part to reduce the risk of dodgy URLs ending up on the site and also because I've never got round to automating the process. Lately the spam has been increasing but not in any sensible way. I'm getting things like "Bill, Man Hatten", "Halo, Moscow" and "Diesel, Washington" coming through. It's left me scratching my head as to what these guys are up to. Why would they be submitting this stuff? It isn't linking through to anything and doesn't seem to contain anything of interest. Microsoft's Windows Live SkyDrive Beta and other freebie services ripe for spammersBy Kelly Jackson HigginsSenior Editor, Dark ReadingJANUARY 10, 2008 | 3:00 PMSpammers love free hosting, so it's no surprise that they continue to hammer free online storage and file-sharing services -- these sites are attractive to spammers because they have legitimate URLs and are typically immune to blacklisting. Microsoft's Windows Live SkyDrive Beta was the latest such service to be victimized by spammers. Earlier this week, McAfee Avert Labs captured thousands of spam messages that contained links to SkyDrive. The links redirected you to an online pharmacy service. McAfee estimates that the spammers uploaded tens of thousands of files to the site. Spammers are always looking for cheap and easy ways t
I don't know who started this rumor (I'm waterboarding everybody in a position to know tomorrow- last chance, mom.), but it's not true that I want to be "bigger." Nor is my wife "not telling me something." In fact, she insists that she's quite "satisfied." Finally, I don't want to "last" any longer: I'll miss parts of Stargate Atlantis.
So, please, I don't care if each "capsule" is 1 cent: leave me alone- for at least ten years, anyways.

I had long hours of battling against spammers, reporting their URL to Google and Technorati, and also updating of ban filter and removing of spammers from http://beachvolleyball.sg.I came across websites which were actually duplicates. They shamelessly copied my old blog’s contents, which I managed to make some pocket money for a couple of months. It could be one of my greatest glories in my life that the Google page rank was at 6, which was so much better than other useful websites.I see an increase of spammers from China and Russia from the spammers’ IP addresses, and I suspect a couple of those lame ones who copy site contents are from Singapore.Shameless lamers are trying all ways to make money.

It has been reported that Hackers have attacked Columbia University, ironically this is the university where the co-author of the VoIP protocol resides. The hackers left marketing SPIT (spam over internet telephony) on multiple phone extensions at the University.
According to the Guardian newspaper, there already are examples of voice phishing or vishing in the U.S. where the penetration of VoIP is getting up to 15 percent. “The real problem with VoIP is that it’s very easy to take a name as your identity which appears with a call, or to put up a number on a screen that isn’t actually the number that the call’s being made from,” David Endler, director of security research at TippingPoint told the Guardian.
“This lends itself perfectly to vishing, which we’ve already started to see, and I’m genuinely surprised we haven’t seen more. P

Spam - a disruptive, esp. commercial message posted on a computer network or sent as e-mail. Nowadays, it works as SMS as well.I hate spams. Spammers are disgusting, worthless, shameless and low-lying creatures trying to fool people to purchase their unworthy and unwanted services or products. Here is one spammer of the day:from FEO: New Launch-SHIT on 16 Nov, FH,Bukit Timah. 1.5% Agent Comm till 18Nov. Reg your interests now. Admission by apointment.Call Eric 96396573This uncle must have failed English because he cannot even spell “appointment” properly. He could have used “appt” instead if he wanted to use short form and that was obviously a typo error. So, nowadays spammers are really scamming that they use other number to spam you and even dare to put the “” sign in front, thinking that it is not considered as spam with that. Hell you I don’t even know you.Suddenly I realise it would be fun when the spammers get spammed and thinking if they should report to the police,
I didn’t comment on the botnet story when it broke a little while ago, but there’s something almost as interesting happening now.
Now, to get this out of the way: I don’t hate Ron Paul. I actually agree with him on several major issues, and he’s better than most of the other Republican candidates out there. On the other hand, I do hate his fan club. That is the reason I decided to go on this rant. If you don’t know who Ron Paul is or don’t care, don’t bother reading this article.

I have had the problem of spammers lately - over the past 3 days I have received 137 spam comments on my blog! I do have a spam utility that helps filter them, but I still have to go through them to confirm that there isn’t a post that has accidentally been flagged as spam (which happens once or twice a week).
I had noticed on Blogger that there is the option to get users to enter in random words - and I had always wanted something like that on my blog. Now there is this free tool!

I can help you.Sorry for that, my Friends, but I have enough spam-comments.
I have not blogged in the last few days and the reason is that my web-site and blog are under constant attack by hackers and spammers from a range of web-sites, including adult-sites, online pill-pushers and Florida vehicle and vehicle related web-sites. Funny, one of the biggest spammers is a web-site which offers legal advice to the victims of vehicle accidents. If people only knew what kind of scum they get their legal advice from. Notice I have not used other synonyms for vehicle since that is how they find their victims, by Googling the other synonyms. In order to fight this I have to take many steps which I can’t discuss here since a great deal of attacks are prompted by my web log. I hope you excuse some delays which could not be avoided while I go through growing pains. Enough said. I will try to do a series of blogs about Las Vegas High-rise condominiums next.
I hate to admit it but I got fooled by two pieces of spam today and actually allowed them to slip on to O’Flaherty.
I have since gone back and removed the URLs to which those pieces of spam pointed, but I have not removed the comment itself.
The reason for not removing the comment is that it was clearly written by a real person who had taken the time to actually read the posts in question before commenting on them.
Here’s an example. I received this comment on my post “Speaker Productivity“.
Luckily I have always detested headphones, so I usually make use of speakers. Never though about it in terms of productivity though. This is an interesting concept. With information overload as it is, it is wise to cut every five minutes you can from your workload. While it may not seem like much at a time, it all adds up.
The personal who wrote the comment obviously read the post and left a valid comment. The spam came in the form of the URLs that the commenter used which

First of all, an apology that my recent Success and Abundance Mindset Carnival contained some articles submitted by blog spammers. I have had quite a lesson this morning on who these bloggers are and how to spot them. The Carnival has been resubmitted and any known spammers have been removed. I am passionate about my blog, including the carnival, maintaining a very high level of quality to my readers. In the future, all submissions will be researched thoroughly and any spammers will be exposed as such.Thank you to one of my readers who brought this to my attention. To your success...
Dear Spammers,
I appreciate all of the attention, but I don't have time for the friends I have now, and I've known them for years. I feel sad that you're "lonely," but a "nice" girl like you shouldn't have any trouble meeting people. Besides, sometimes you're statements are bafflingly contradictory. You say you're "bored" yet you claim to have a bunch of "fun" friends.
Why don't you find some other friends that are more willing to spend time with you? Sure, they may not be as "hot" as your current associates, but looks aren't everything.
Go join a club or a church group. There's plenty of people you can hang out with there.
First to the spammer trying to get free advertising, your target market is not reading this blog, trust me on this. Do you think your customers read silly garbage like "What happens here stays in Zuranus"?
I would think your product caters to a more refined crowd, one that would snub their noses at the likes of me. To be in a situation where my website is more professional then your company is odd and I let them know about this issue a few minutes ago via email.
Note: I wanted to come back and add that I do apologize if 'threedoors' legitimately came here and was just commenting on my stuff. Most times, when someone comments four times in ten minutes, uses their company name instead of their own, leaves comments just short enough to get their URL on the comments summary section of the front page, and leaves the company info in their signature they are spammers.

Blogger Forum TipsHide your email address from spammersBloggers may notice that their junk email has gone up about 100% once their blog gets popular. The reason, of course, is that your email address appears on the site and can be easily "mined" by spambots. Spambots search the net for email addresses that can be collected and sold to spammers. In this newsletter, we’ll go over why comments are a great form of feedback for your blog, how they help the credibility of your content, what spam comments are and how to prevent them from happening.Comments – A great form of feedbackWhen blogs first came around, they were simply online journals. No one could post comments on a blog posting. That all changed in 1998 with OpenDiary, a site which allowed people to comment on blog postings.
