I hear that London’s makeup artists are raving about snail gel. Snails repair their own shells with their slime. Workers in the Chilean snail farms have unusually beautiful and smooth hands, and any cuts and scrapes healed fast. Snail slime contains Allantoin, Glycolic Acid, Collagen, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Elastin - all [...]
According to the independent, there’s an escargot shortage that is threatening French life as we know it. OH NON! Most of the snails people eat in France are from Eastern Europe. Gasp! Oui oui. How ironic that what was killing off the Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow is what`s needed to save the Everglades Snail Kite. Because of severe drought conditions in the prime habitat of the Snail Kite the food on which it is named for is disappearing as well. But I would not put the blame squarely on the drought rather those who have caused it to begin with. Sadly the Everglades restoration may not co
Geez, I meant to post the last couple days - I swear. I just didn't. Gosh gee. Fuck it. I was rocking with my socks off all weekend. I don't know what that means. I think I watched a movie. As you know, rice becomes prime food for Indonesian. So, as long as you see, rice fields every where.
Like other plants, rice plants also have their pest, for example is snail. Snails eat stalk and leaves of rice plants, so the plants will die soon.
But, in other point of view, these rice field snails can be processed as delicious cuisine. Before cooked, break the shell, throw body waste. After

My aim was to complete an Olympic Triathlon, but I fear that I'm not yet able to run 10K after a bike ride of 40K, due to my ongoing injury. The swim part must be my second weakest point and biking must be my strength. in Triathlon the swim is the shortest of the 3 exercises and I'm seek

In France snails are quiet common staple and dish served in restaurants. They're not as bad as it sounds, provided they are Fresh and not the canned version (but isn't that the same rule for every thing?). When you're new to snails or want to make sure you get the real thing go to L'Escargot 38 rue Montorgueil Paris 1e. Metro Sentier. Eating the eggs of snails could be the next culinary frontier f
In a very fast expanding Internet age with virtual mailboxes and virus laden spams, the proverbial snail mail is taking a back seat and the charm of receiving scribbled mails is becoming a thing of the past. The sad demise of the hand crafted posts has drastically changed our conception of receiving the sentimentally charged personalized communication which acted as the subtle touch of the near and dear as well as the not-so-familiar ones. It invariably had the raw smell of the persona and the memories associated with it. When the traditional mail was the almost only preferred form of connecting, people invariably waited every day of the week, month and year to be called by the friendly postman in an expectant afternoon, to hand over a humble looking post card, envelope, inland letter, par

I just stumbled upon this hilarious uncyclopedia entry on Snails and felt compelled to share it. Extract:
Snails are rich slugs who can afford housing. Essentially, a snail is the equivalent of a hard-working slug achieving the American dream thanks to the grace of God and Sam Walton.
Around the world we can find amazing builds, monuments, bridges and houses, some of them are really strange, others try to reproduce objects or animals, that was happened to this one, somebody has reproduced a snail shell as a house, for me this house or whatever, seems to be more a sculpture than house, but [...]
By Helen Briggs - Science reporter BBC News - 26 February 2008 Original URL The pteropod is an important food for many marine animals It is one of the world's strangest and smallest sea creatures, growing to no bigger than the size of a lentil. But the tiny pteropod, with its translucent shell, could help scientists understand how marine animals will respond to the stresses of climate change. Thousands of the molluscs, also known as sea butterflies because of their wing-like lobes, have been collected from the shallows of Antarctica. After flying the samples thousands of kilometres to her laboratory at the University of California, Santa Barbara, marine biologist Dr Gretchen Hofmann plans to sequence the animal's genome. She hopes to find genes and molecular pathways th
Recently I bought the book, “The Age of Conversation” from lulu.com thinking I will get the book before Christmas but I found out today that the delivery option I selected is EU slowest delivery option and it will take 20 days for the book to arrive after I get a notification it had been shipped.
I am so used to buying online from Amazon who provides speedy delivery, I am totally not impressed with anything that does not match Amazon. I will be able to accept if delivery is between 5 to 7 days but 20 days is way too long. That means I will only be able to read my book in the New Year. Sigh
Growing your own vegetables is very rewarding. That is, until the pests come calling. One of the most aggravating banes to the vegetable gardener is the slugs and snails. They appear, usually at night when you're sleeping and unable to pluck them away, and nibble away at all your precious seedlings and plants. The appearance of holes in the middle of leaves is a pointed clue to a snail problem. Those silvery slime trails over leaves and soil may look pretty and sparkly in the sun, but are a death sentence for your tender young plants. The pests will continue until there are no leaves left to sustain the life of the plant. How many plants I've lost to these pests is frustrating. Not only is the problem a time-wasting nuisance, it becomes costly replacing those ruined plants. As a beginner gardener, the battle with pests in my garden almost made me want to abandon the idea. However, with a little maintenance and care, these ravenous pests will not be such an issue.First, it is important

A natural piece of art, a snail gemstone. According to nypost.com this gemstone is 80-million-year-old fossilized sea creature. A priceless gemstone made its debut at the Museum of Natural History. It's a two-feet-in-diameter fossil of a marine animal called an ammonite, whose iridescent, rainbow-colored, snail-like shell was transformed over millions of years into ammolite. That's one of three gemstones, along with amber and pearl, produced by living organisms. Ammonites were hard shelled squid-like marine animals that existed from the Palaeozoic to the end of the Cretaceous era when they suddenly became extinct. They were abundant in all of the oceans. According to Neil Landman, the museum's curator of invertebrate fossils, the sea creature became extinct about 65 million years ago, around the same time as the dinosaurs. "A fossil like this is extremely rare," said Ken Oschipok, of Korite International, the Canadian gemstone company that donated the piece to the museum after its d
I received this email from a friend yesterday.. I do mention snail bait poisoning in my podcast about dngers in you home.. please pass this on and help save a life..
Last Saturday, my friends dog died. He was a beautiful 1 year-old chocolate lab named Coco. He was so sweet and would come down and visit us during the day. The way he died was horrible and I wanted to get the word out to everyone I knew so that this doesn’t happen to other dogs.
At 12:00 noon on Saturday, he ate some snail bait and by 6:00 he was dead. They came home and found him in a pool of excrement as he gasped his last breath. He suffered terribly and alone in their yard while they were out. Most people don’t know that snail bait is coated with oats and molasses and is attractive to dogs. My friends did not know this when they bought it. Later they realized there was a warning on the box, but with all the text on the box they missed it.
They NEVER would have bought something to put in their garden

Plague, vermin, and pestilence
It has been reported that we are to have an influx of the slippery little blighters.
Due to the wet warm weather it is said that we are to have about 15 billion slugs invade and threaten our grassy green lands with their sluggy munchieness.
So lock up your veggies and get protective of your plants and remember if you go home and there are slug trials across your garden, don’t blame the wife.
Instead build them a colony into civilisation and arm them with pampas grass to defend themselves.

This Story is RePublished from Slashdot.ogrSoyChemist writes "In 2004, the FDA approved the cone snail venom ziconotide (Prialt) for the treatment of chronic pain. It is only used for severe cases because it must be injected directly into the spinal column. This month, researchers from the University of Utah have reported the discovery of a new snail venom with a completely different amino acid sequence. Because it very selectively attaches to and blocks nerve signals by binding to a particular type of acetylcholine receptor without causing any collateral damage, the newly discovered venom could also become a fantastic medical tool."
My connection is slow as a snail though it is supposed to be a broadband ISP. See, I was grabbing an opp but I quickly lost it because my connection is super slow. It freezes. It's really irritating. Our computer has very low memory that it screws up our favorites, we can't find anything anymore. I hate it. Anyway, I am trying to get rid of some of our files, I will have to transfer some of the photos to a cd. So, we have more room. The opps just slips away because our computer is so slow. I am irritated.
Random website of the day…..
So I was told about this one site where you can go back to the old skool way of writing letters…through the post office! But paying for stamps is like “not cool” so someone came up with this craaazy idea of letting you write and send letters for FREE. So what’s the catch? After you send your letter, you’ll be presented with offers from their sponsors.

Here is a form-letter that I wrote this past year and was used in a massive grassroots mailing that flooded our local senator's office with the same message over and over. Eventually he got the point. It is open for use, feel free to send it on to your own if you wish and are that motivated. Any comments welcome, as always:Dear Senator:President Bush and his administration are going too far. The federal deficit is currently under scrutiny and because of that Senator Domenici and President Bush have decided to sell off America’s lands to companies that will tear it from tree limb to tree limb. There are plenty of better ways to fund the federal government without auctioning off our heritage and the heritage of our children.America's national forests and public lands are home to some of the most striking beauty on earth. These areas provide clean drinking water for millions of Americans across the country as well as providing a much needed respite from the urban environment. These fo
Scarring and the Skin Healing Process
The elimination or fading of scars, lesions, and stretch marks from the skin depends on a process called “skin remodeling”.
The skin is meant to repair wounds quickly to prevent blood loss and infections. Scars are created from a quickly formed “collagen glue” that the body deposits into an damaged area for protection and strength. In ideal skin healing, wounded skin is quickly closed, and then the healed area is slowly repaired to remove the remaining collagen scars and blend the skin area into nearby skin.
Scar collagen is removed and replaced with a mixture of skin cells and invisible collagen fibers. This work may continue in a skin area for up to ten years.
In children, the remodeling speed is high and scars are often rapidly removed from damaged skin areas. But as we reach adulthood, this rate diminishes and small scars may remain for years.
One way to quicken repair is to induce a small amount of controlled skin d

Based on the rising postage costs and the popularity of e-mail, many family associations have switched to sending their family newsletter only through e-mail. Here are a few considerations:1. Many older members of the family still do not have e-mail addresses. Though there are certaintly exceptions, we have found this to be true with the majority of our family members over the age of 70. If you choose to send a newsletter primarily through e-mail, provide the option for these family members to receive it through snail mail. These older family members will likely be a cornerstone of your organization, providing both volunteer hours and donations.2. It is more likely that your e-mail newsletter will quickly be discarded. One of the reasons we have continued doing a snail mail newsletter is because we feel that it is more likely to be read than in an e-mail format. Though I have no statistics to prove which method is more effective, I do know that the "delete" button is easy to click and

That’s a part of my junk mail pile (neatly arranged) from the last few weeks. Finally, after much procrastination (as usual), I got to shredding the damned things yesterday. This time, I documented the rogue mail senders, so that I can systematically hate them according to how much junk they send me. Here are the results:
Chase was the undisputed winner in our little junk mail contest. With 27 letters - some pre-approved offers and some of those stupid $10 checks - in a span of about 3 weeks, the king of junk mail seemed to be hell-bent on ruining our cheap paper shredder.
Bank of America, Citibank, and Discover also sent some junk to our mailbox, but they don’t come anywhere close to Chase. However, Citibank and Discover still managed to aggravate the shredder by sending over-sized junk mails. Verizon didn’t really send *financial* junk, but I included it nevertheless since it ranked among the top 6 contenders. It should be noted that these junk mail numbers do n
While you often hear hobbyists saying they can’t get rid of all the snails in their tank, having snails in your freshwater aquarium as a rule is actually quite beneficial. Most snails act as a “clean up crew” in the aquarium, eating excess food, decaying plant or fish matter, and moving gravel on the tank bottom. The problem with snails in an aquarium is that they reproduce very quickly, and can marr your beautiful tank by being stuck all over the glass and decorations. The real challenge is keeping the snail population in check.
Snails are most often introduced into an aquarium through plants, gravel, or decorations that have moved from other tanks that have snails. While the snails themselves may be small, their eggs are even smaller! Unless you are willing to thoroughly clean everything before it goes into your aquarium, snails will eventually be introduced to your tank.

If I had videotaped the spectacle that was dinner time at the Dysfunctional household tonight, I could have packaged it, pitched it, and sold it to Pfizer as an ad justifying the insane rate at which Americans are being prescribed Xanax.Nights like tonight have made it necessary to erect a toddler gate between the front of our house (bar room, office, aquarium, half bathroom) and the rear of our house (everything else.) So now the King and I have proudly established a plastic and mesh demilitarized zone designed by Fisher-Price.I have christened the "adult" side of our DMZ "The West Wing."...and so, it is with great pleasure that I have had the opportunity to surf the net and catch up with a few gems.#1: Travis is my favorite Sacramento blogger who needs an editor. Which is better? Being fairly new at the "finding an agent", "get published" world, I've discovered a whole bucket full of things that are quite amazing. I've found agents who will accept nothing but a snail mail query with SASE included and agents who will accept nothing but an email query. Most give detailed descriptions of what the query should look like also, even posting an example query to make it simpler for us newbie submitters. I find that awesome. Because for me that was a ray of hope. Maybe not so much for my work being considered but rather safety from looking like a complete uneducated fool to the agent I was submitting to.I'll admit, I'm fresh off the stack, as new as th
#644: IT'S A SNAIL'S PACE, BUT FORWARD I GOI take drugs to make myself feel better.I have been on them for three weeks, maybe four.My doctor put me on this really low dose so that I could adjust to them more easily. When she decided that it was time to raise the dosage, she wrote me another prescription. When I went to fill it, the pharmacist told me that she would not fill a prescription for that particular drug before the previous one was finished. As a result, I have been stuck taking this lower dose for an extra two weeks. This means that it is taking far longer than is good for me to find out if this drug even works. This also means that I have had to sit with this anxiety and depression for this much longer.I really wanted to reach across that orange plastic counter and grab the pharmacist's white smock.I wanted to punch her in the throat right where mine feels like it has had a chicken bone stuck in it for three months.Instead, I smiled, thanked her for her time, and told I'd se
