      Season Opener
The Ohio State Buckeyes open their basketball season tonight against that basketball power Delaware St.This is our first chance to see the Buckeyes latest one and done, B.J. Mullens. Most seem to pick them to finish the middle of the pack in the Big 10. Personally I think they have more talent than that, but it is mostly young talent. They'll have to get increased contributions from the returning p

Eagles Smash the Rams in Season Opener
Now that's how you start a football season. If the fans weren't optimistic going into the season they certainly will be now after a 38-3 beatdown on the St. Louis Rams. I was at Lincoln Financial field for the opener and actually had the opportunity to watch the game from two different vantage points. The first half I was 24 rows up from the field, section 122. Absolutely fantastic seats, but

Successful New England quarterback Tom Brady has announced that he expects to be fit for his team's season opener on the 7th of September after suffering a foot injury. Brady said: "I was hoping to play last week. It's up to coach. If I don't play Thursday (in the pre-season finale against the New York Giants), I'll be ready for Kansas City." The Patriots went undefeated in last season, until they

      Wariner Stumbles In Season Opener
Wariner runs second at 200-meters in Sydney Grand PrixThe season opener didn’t go so hot for Jeremy Wariner. The Aussie, Daniel Batman, beat Wariner in the 200-meters at the Sydney Grand Prix in Australia. Batman led from the start and won in 20.81. Jeremy was second in 20.93.J Dub's time was decent considering the early time of year, and a lost in the 200-meters means nothing. The 400 is his bread and butter."This is really just a tuneup race for me to see where I'm at with my training and what I need to work on," Wariner said. However, the race won't be enough to satisfy the "do nothing" media. They will write that Wariner is off to a bad start since leaving Coach Hart and his career is ruined. That's garbage. But this race sure didn't help him in the court of public opinion.By Jay Hick

      Packers win season opener
Been awhile since the Pack has won the first game of the season, but they did it this season. The game ball should go to special teams and the defense they played great while the offense sputtered a little.I thought it was overall a great game with the Pack playing with more passion then the Eagles.

Colts Crush Saints In Season Opener
Thursday night, the Indianapolis Colts crushed the Saints of New Orleans in the NFL season opener, 41-10. I picked the Colts to win, but never gave it a thought that the Saints would look so horrible.Drew Brees passed for a semi-decent 192 yards, but didn't throw for any touchdowns. He did, however, throw two interceptions. Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush both rushed for a disappointing 38 yards and no touchdowns. On the brighter side of the game, the Colts, led by Peyton Manning, looked just as good as they did last year. Manning passed for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns, two of which went to receiver Reggie Wayne.Although I thought this game would be closer, my prediction for the most part was correct. The colts won, but the Saints came nowhere close. Don't count out the Saints just yet, though. They have a good team and a good coach. They should have the kinks worked out by next week's game against Tampa Bay. I'll have my predictions for this week's remaining games posted by Saturd

Eagles QB McNabb to Miss Pre-Season Opener
Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb, recovering from surgery on his right knee, will not play Monday when the Eagles open their preseason with a game in Baltimore against the Ravens. McNabb hasn’t played in a game since he tore a ligament against the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 19. <<<Hotwire>>> Nothing too surprising here. They’ve been saying they’re going to take it easy with McNabb during the pre-season. I would expect to see him briefly by the 3rd pre-season game.

Trent Green booed in pre-season opener
Dolphins coach Cam Cameron said that the team did zero game planning and that he only had 40% of his offense installed so far and it was very apparent during Miami's pre-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Dolphins won 18-17 but that was despite an offense that looked lethargic at best.Trent Green got the start but he struggled as he only completed 6 of his 15 pass attempts for 60 yards. Green took every snap of the first half but could only lead the offense to one field goal and as a result he got booed by the crowd."It's a crazy business," said Green, who added he didn't hear the jeers. "People can respond to different things. I don't take a lot of that too much to heart being that it's the first preseason game. That's why you play preseason games."It's just the first game of the pre-season so of course everyone's going to be rusty and that's why you have the find the little positives wherever you can.The goodRonnie Brown's back-up Jessie Chatman looked good

The Northeast season opener at the 2007 Speedway Expo in Springfield, Mass.
Image was taken by me with a Kodak EasyShare DX6490.Just like most of my racing trips, a planed yet on the fly trip, this one way an 1.5 hour highway drive to Springfield, Massachusetts for the first annual (I think..) Speedway Expo that is put on by Dick Berggren’s Speedway Illustrated and Town Fair Tire. This I believ is the replace for Racearama.Once we get there, it starts with a $5 parking fee which includes a $5 off coupon for Speedway Illustrated Magazine one year/12 issues. Now that that’s over, $15 each for admission…now we are up to $35 total plus gasoline and Mass Pike tolls (unknown.)I have to say, compared to the 2001-2003 Racearama shows I went to at the same location, it lacks by at least 50%, my first and second show filled three builds, this one filled one building, plus part-way for the second building. But I enjoyed the show anyway, there was collectible dealers, plus show racecars on display and racing gear. They also had autographs and some events, but for us
