The place names of Newfoundland are as distinctive and quaint as its scenery and settlements
The typical Newfoundland settlement pattern, however, is not its larger or newer towns but its string of fishing villages along the shore, many of them more than two centuries old. The usual site is at the head of some cove where more gently sloping land gives space for the houses and fish flakes or drying platforms. In some places, however, the settlements cling precariously to rocky cliffs. The

Air Jordan Force III (AJF 3) Fusion - Black and Scenery Green
Check out these uniquely colored Air Jordan Force III Fusions. You won’t find kicks that look like this everyday. Early indications point to this shoe being released in August, with a price of $160. The first thing you notice when you look at these shoes is the green color that is used. Jordan calls it [...]

I’m really looking forward to several of the OG colorways of the Jordan II Fusions, but I can’t say the same for this black and scenery green version.  Done in primarily black canvas with scenery green cement, this shoe is reminescent of the Hufquake Air Force 1 that release about two years ago.  For those [...]

Montana Photos, My new website, wildlife, horses, scenery.
I love taking photos of dogs in pickups. They exhibit all kinds of doggie behaviour. This one has such wistful longing for his master to return. He hates sitting there, guarding the truck, feeling self conscious. This is a very "doggie" moment, captured forever with the camera. The line these mule deer created on a hillside interested my creative mind. I liked their path in the snow, and the way their dark shapes followed it.This little group of mule deer, trotting through the snow was cute. I liked their single minded determination and sense of purpose.Echoes of the past...an abandoned grain drill. Here we go again, another version of the dog in the pickup. These crows almost got us killed. Robert spotted them and they were about to take off in flight. He slammed on the brakes so har

      Montana nature photos. Wildlife, scenery.
This pair of geese nest on this haystack each year. We look for them every spring. It was snowing hard and fast when we saw these horses. I can't wait to do some paintings of them. I liked the groupings of horses that occurred as they moved around the field. The wind was blowing and my hands were frozen by the time I decided I had enough photos! We drove as far up Willow Creek as we could go. When the drifts got deep, we had to turn around and come back. As it began to snow really hard, we decided we'd better come back down off the mountain, but it certainly felt good to be there again, even if it was for a little while.Hope you enjoyed today's photo shoot as much as we did!Photos are for sale, with double mats and in a clear bag, for $40.Donna Ridgway

      A change in scenery
Last night I finally got round to checking out a Victorian Premier League match. I had given it thought around the same time last year but in the end I never got round to it. Probably too many other distractions - it may have been when I started taking up golf. Anyway back to the matter at hand, the match I went to was the first of the new Foxtel Cup season between Richmond Eagles and last year's champions, Preston Lions at Kevin Bartlett Reserve.Having never supported a VPL team before, I went through and long arduous selection process in order to choose one. In fact, it boiled down to a club that had a stadium that was easily accessible by public transport from my house in Kensington. So in the end it basically came down to Richmond and South Melbourne, and I couldn't support the latter

Visit Viveiro For Outstanding Natural Scenery
By: stephenstewart Northern Spain and Galicia particularly has long been an undiscovered jewel in the whole of the Spanish tourism industry and within that undiscovered jewel in particular we are going to take a look at Viveiro. Overall of all of the autonomous regions of Spain possibly Galicia is the most remote and this makes Viveiro even more of an undiscovered treasure. Traditionally, Galicia was seen as a poor agricultural region, whose economy did not lend itself to modernisation and yet as far as tourism is concerned it is this constant contact with the past that gives the region its appeal and charm. The Galicians, whose origins are Celtic, are fiercely proud of their culture and language; it is what makes them unique (they feel) within modern day Spain. It absorbed little in the way of outside influence being fiercely resistant to all forms of outside intervention (and we mean all forms of outside intervention), was never conquered by the Moors, and in the Middle Ages fell und

Beautiful Coastal Scenery Thats Viveiro in Galicia
By: stephensstewart With regards to the entire Spanish tourist industry Northern Spain and Galicia especially have been very much a hidden treasure and hidden within lies a further particular treasure called Viveiro.Of all of the autonomous regions of Spain it is understandable given its location that Galicia is considered the most remote and therein lies the charm of Viveiro hidden away longing to be discovered. The traditional concept of Galicia was always that it was supposedly a poor agricultural region and as such the economy would not be the easiest to modernize yet one of the fasted growing sub sectors within the Galician Economy is tourism and it is this very real relationship with its historical past that give the region its particular appeal. The cultural and language origins of Galicia are very much rooted within the Celtic family of communities found elsewhere in North West Europe and has led to Galicia always having a sense of looking outwards from their regional base as opp

Picture of rural winter scenery in northern Norway - The sun has just come back
Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera on February 15th 2007. Click image for larger view. In this photo you see the house where I lived my first 12 years. It looks very idyllic in this winter scenery, doesn’t it? The place where the house stands is called “Solhaug”. In English it would be called something like “Sun Hill”. The picture was taken on 15th of February so the sun had just come back here in northern Norway. The sun was still very low in the horizon so that is why it creates this beautiful and special light. Check out this photo of the same house, but from another angle where you can see how close it is located to the ocean. Information about the picture: Camera: Olympus E-500 digital SLR camera Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100) Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 34 mm ISO Speed: 100 Lens: Olympus Zuiko Digital 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 Location: Laupstad, Andørja (Ibestad) in northern Norway Share This

Picture from trip on the ocean - Autumn scenery in northern Norway
Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera September 22nd 2007. Click image for larger view. Another photo from my fishing trip this weekend. I love the contrast between the white snow covered mountains peaks and the autumn-colored forest you can see in this picture. The calm ocean and the somewhat dramatic clouds are also nice. The weather was extremely nice that day, unlike today with strong winds and heavy rain showers! Information about the picture: Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160) Aperture: f/7.1 Focal Length: 150 mm ISO Speed: 100 Lens: Olympus Zuiko Digital 40-150mm F3.5-4.5 Location: Out on the sea by Laupstad (Andørja), Troms in northern Norway Share This

Two Gallants - The Scenery of Farewell
Known for their aggressive, electric live shows. Two Gallants have fostered a dual musical personality by occasionally recording and playing songs with a more stripped down sound. Since the band's extensive touring schedule left little time for proper rehearsals, some of these songs always meant for an album evolved in such places as sound checks and radio show appearances, where it was more conducive for them to be performed. This collection of acoustic-based songs will be followed by a full-length in September 2007.

      Scenery Apparel
Scenery Apparel is one of my latest discoveries (I don't know if someone else knew about this place but I didn't), and is one of these places that just make you feel calm and relaxed while shopping. Maybe is the scenery, I don't know... (OK, that was a joke!?) But seriously, it's a clean cut, appealing site and the designs are in the same spirit. The folks over there seem to be quite active too, donating part of their profit to several organizations (like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society). Overall I liked most of the t-shirts at Scenery but the one design who really did for me is Gizelle, an incredibly beautiful dark green print on this creme American Apparel shirt...wow...I want that!
