There were many cargo ships docked at the Steel mill in Hamilton, but this one caught my eye. The rusty lower hull contrasted very nicely with the mat black of the rest of it.The directional lines all pointing to the lower left (or upper right if you wish) are giving me some trouble from a composition perspective, but I hope the vignetting that I did will take care of that. Erin promoted Rusty Eye in her comment yesterday. Because I am always interested in discovering new heave metal bands, I wanted to check this one out. This is a quick review of Rusty Eye and their music. This band really rocks and I encourage you to check it out.
Rusty Eye is not a new heavy metal band. Being formed in 1995 in Mexico City, has actually been around for pretty long time. In fact, they are almost as old as Children of Bodom, a great melodic death metal band. Rusty Eye is founded by its bassist and vocalist mr. Rust. Nowadays the band is located in Hollywood as many other great American metal bands.
Rusty Eye includes three people, mr. Rust behind bass and vocals, Jehu with guitar as well as Miss Randall behind drums and vocals. Rusty Eye recorded their first LP Rust N’ Roll in 2000 and the second one Cryogenic in 2005. After the second album the band won the Best Female Drummer of the Year Award” by LA music scene magazine. I have no reservations about my love for vintage. It is the easiest, cheapest way to get a unique outfit. You know that you won’t see anyone else wearing your ensemble when you go vintage. In the past, I would mainly shop at Thrift stores to score my vintage finds, lately, I have been turning to the internet. Ebay is an obvious choice to look for vintage items but it can also be expensive. If 12 people are bidding on the same dress you can be assured that it will end up in the triple digits. The thrill of the hunt is also lost on Ebay because you can easily find good vintage on the auction site. For these reasons, I don’t hunt for vintage on Ebay.

Check out this 1938 Bugatti, this has to be one of the expensive rust old cars that have ever gone to auction. Christie’s managed to sell this 1938 Type 57C for a staggering $852,500, the Bugatti was originally expected to fetch only half of that amount but it almost reached the same price as a new Bugatti.
The 1938 Bugatti Type 57C as you can see is in very bad shape, the car has sat in storage since 1962, what paint is left on the car is chipped, flaked and faded. The once shiny chrome is now rusty, while the tires are completely gone. The engine has seen better days, but the car once restored will look a dream that it once was.

This texture is the first of a long series of metallic textures I will be posting on my site for download. Some time ago I took tons of pictures of heavy construction equipment (bulldozers, excavators, etc) at a construction site nearby. It was the perfect place to get close-ups photos of gritty metallic surfaces. Pure texture heaven : dirty, scratched and rusty surfaces just waiting to be captured!
I made this texture pretty seamless. To use in Photoshop, open the file. Then do a “Select All”. Then do “Edit –> Define Pattern” and voila’ you are now ready to fill any empty layer with this texture (use the paint bucket tool set on pattern for that).

After seeing the Rusty Nail LED Night Light I am thinking that Dick Cappels may be the off set name of MacGyver. If you don’t have any CAT-5 wire handy why not use some of the wire out of an old transformer.
