Here’s what I wrote on that subject last year, plus a little extra from the day I wrote it: July 20, 2005 James “Scotty” Doohan died at age 85 today.  He had several illnesses, and passed away at his home in Redmond, WA.  James was a WWII vet, losing a finger on D-Day storming Jeanu Beach, and is of course most famous for playing Scotty the engineer on the Star Trek starship Enterprise.
