Whenever I see a predatory tow truck driver or a parking meter maid strolling by, I just want to roll down my window quickly and yell out - “Hey you! Go back to (some place far, far away from where I’m headed, and nowhere close to my car).” As you can tell, I am not [...]
Anyone who knows me, also knows that I have a strong opinion on many things. Its not always that I just want to share my opinion but that I’ve learned to use and express my own opinions in order to reinforce my beliefs in such a strong way that those beliefs are part [...]
Article source: -reinforces.htmlCalifornia prosecutors and retailers are pushing a bill that would legitimize the outsourcing of controversial bad-check restitution programs to private companies and increase fees the firms can charge people who bounce checks. The measure, which is opposed by consumer groups, is heading toward what promises to be a contentious debate Tuesday before the Assembly Public Safety Committee. The California District Attorneys Association is sponsoring the bill, AB 2606 by Assemblyman Bill Emmerson, R-Rancho Cucamonga.Supporters say the bill will ensure the viability of programs that recover millions of dollars for businesses, offer people a way to avoid court, save tax dollars and help prosecutors focus resources on higher priority cases.Opponents charge the priva
A Special Perspective from NITA’s Educational Consultant, Jeanne PhilotoffAs mentioned in our recent post, The Carnegie Report, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching released a report in March 2007 that reinforces what the McCrate Report found in 1992 and what the NITA faculty and staff have known for decades. The message: legal skills training must become an essential part of law school curriculum. Legal education needs to evolve to become more linked to the practical requirements of practicing law. Most people familiar with NITA know that we started as a task force of the American Bar Association. The success of NITA was immediate. It must be noted that many of our original programs took place at the law schools where these very discussions on learning-by-doing are tak

It is important that your environment reinforces your identity!Take charge of your life, if you don’t there are several people and institutions that will do it for you. Conquer your fears and SET GOALS.Many people sleep through their life without a definite purpose. Setting goals plants seeds in your subconscious that will manifest regardless of what you consciously do. When you place goals into your subconscious they move you in the direction you want to go, sometimes effortlessly. Remember it is who you become on the journey. I have said before that “normal” is a setting on a washing machine. The “normal guy” goes nowhere and does nothing. Leaders are different from the group. You can’t be “normal” and be a leader. Be different from other people and you will go fa

The latest report from the UN’s climate change panel reiterates the need for concerted and urgent action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Climate Change Minister David Parker says.Fresh from sharing this year’s Nobel Peace Prize with former US vice-president Al Gore, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released its fourth and final 2007 report on global climate change.David Parker welcomed the release of the global Synthesis Report in Valencia, Spain, which underlines findings released earlier this year and supports calls for urgent action. The Minister said the information the IPCC produced made a clear case that governments can act and must act to avert dangerous climate change. “It confirms the increasing pace of climate change, and the serious impacts we and the rest of the globe may face if we do not get greenhouse gas emissions under control.”The report reiterates that with technologies that are available and affordable today, or that are currently
Endesa, Spain´s largest utility, has announced it is set to build that country’s biggest solar energy plant in San Roque (Cadiz, Andalusia).
Company officials estimate that the 20.1 megawatt pv solar plant will save 13,300 tons of CO2 emissions a year. The decision to build a plant using this type of technology meets environmental criteria as these facilities produce no greenhouse gases whatsoever.

The location is ideal not only because of the amount of solar radiation it receives but also because photovoltaic cells work better near the coast, where average summer temperatures are cooler, company officials said in a statement.
The project is part of Endesa’s plan for development of clean energies, which proposes 100 megawatts of new solar energy in the next five years. The first stage of the plant will have 12.3 megawatts of installed power covering 91 acres. Endesa Generation will start work in July.

Low Calorie DietResearchers Found that Adults in Year-Long Study Lost Weight with DairyYou don't need to cut dairy from your diet to achieve weight loss success, suggests a new study published in the August issue of Obesity Research.Researchers at the Mayo Clinic found that obese adults can include up to 4 servings of dairy foods per day in a low calorie diet, combined with moderate exercise, and still lose a significant amount of weight and body fat. This new randomized clinical trial compared the weight loss results of 72 obese adults following three different reduced-calorie diets: a "high-dairy" diet that included 4 servings of dairy foods (milk, yogurt or cheese) each day; a "high-dairy/high fiber/low glycemic index" diet that included 4 servings of dairy each day; and a "moderate-dairy" or standard diet that included 2 servings of dairy foods each day. After nearly one year (48 weeks), the participants in all three groups experienced significant weight loss and body fat loss, pro
This is something that has bothered me for some time. Crewe is a changing town, a massively significant railway junction that serves north, south, east and west. The old 'works' as we know it has been slowly disappearing for years. Now we have the possibility that Crewe station could, if stories from Network Rail are to be believed, be relocated outside of the town. Crewe Alexandra Football Club saw fit to strip its club crest of the railway wheel some time ago. Now we have a few roads named after senior railway figures, a pair of railway wheels/bogie in the Victoria Centre and a mish-mash of memorabilia at the Heritage Centre, tucked behind a supermarket as if it was an embarrassing relative. The town and its railway heritage deserves much, much more than this. With so much redevelopment and change ongoing we now have an opportunity. I'd love to see Crewe school kids, MMU Cheshire and South Cheshire College students design and build a fitting statue, monument or sculpture that is a
When her husband told her he was a cross-dresser, Joanne Nemecek recalls feeling shocked, horrified, even sick.A lifelong Christian and daily Scripture reader, Joanne immediately thought of Deuteronomy 22:5: “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.”The conflict that day in 2003 between her love for John, her husband of 32 years and an ordained Baptist minister, and her religious beliefs started Joanne on a life-changing faith journey. That journey continues today: Even more committed to a faith that survived a great test, she stands by her husband, who came to feel his true hard-wired nature wasn’t merely to wear women’s clothes, but to physically conform to the woman he believes he has always been inside.
The Michigan couple’s struggle has much to teach the rest of us about love, commitment, bravery and willingness to use on
