Anti-Malaysia demonstrations broke out Wednesday in Indonesian cities after an Indonesian referee was beaten while in the neighbouring country for a karate competition. In the East Java capital of Surabaya, dozens of youths conducted a sweep against Malaysian citizens at a local hotel in retaliation for the beating, which allegedly occurred at the hands of police officers. The Associated Press is reporting that NBA Referee Tim Donaghy is going to plead guilty on Wednesday " to charges alleging he wagered on games he officiated, a person familiar with the betting scandal probe said."The AP also reports that investigators are still trying to find out whether or not Donaghy provided inside information to other people.Tin Donaghy has proven to be just another power abusing NBA referee - except this case was both on and off the court.I hope that when the 2007-08 NBA season comes around, league officials will start being tough on the referees. JOEY CRAWFORD NBA REFEREE SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY!The NBA suspended Joey Crawford for improper conduct towards Tim Duncan on last Sunday's game against the Mavericks. I think the NBA is sending a statement that even though you may be a respected referee, the NBA is a top tear league and you have to abide by your rules."Joey Crawford's handling of this situation failed to meet the standards of professionalism and game management we expect of NBA referees," said Commissioner David Stern. "Especially in light of similar prior acts by this official, a significant suspension is warranted. Although Joey is consistently rated as one of our top referees, he must be held accountable for his actions on the floor, and we will have further discussions with him following the season to be sure he understands his responsibilities."I think Joey was out of line with the second technical because most referees should look away from star players after their first technical and let them continue to play.

Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs is a happy players right about now. NBA Referee Joey Crawford has been suspended indefinitely.Crawford is most known for his horrible temper which usually results in technical fouls being handed out as often as speeding tickets on I-80.Crawford was suspended for challenging Duncan to a fight while he was sitting on the bench after his first technical foul Sunday. Duncan was then issued the second technical, by Crawford, which also took him out of the game.Duncan claims that Crawford has a "personal vendetta" against him. However, Crawford has been subject to many other officiating violations in the past, which is why commissioner David Stern believes "a significant suspension is warranted."Personally, I would have preferred to see a fight.
