Yankees Could Recall Kennedy For Wednesday
Ed Price/NJ.Com:I just checked, and as far as I can tell, Ian Kennedy could be called back up to start Wednesday at Tampa Bay instead of Kei Igawa. Before tonight's game, manager Joe Girardi said "there's no situation we've talked (about) as of right now" that would keep the Yankees from starting Igawa again Wednesday at Tampa Bay. But that was before tonight's awful performance. Baseball rules require an optioned player, such as Kennedy, to spend 10 days in the minors before returning (unless he replaces a player put on the disabled list). Kennedy was optioned last Sunday, so the 10th day is Tuesday. From what I am told, the 10-day count begins the day of the assignment, not the day the player physically reports to the minor-league team (last Monday, in Kennedy's case). The bottom line: I

      Yankees recall Veras to pen
FROM BRYAN HOCH:NEW YORK -- With an open spot on their 25-man roster, the Yankees moved on Friday to add an additional reliever to their bullpen, recalling right-hander Jose Veras from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Veras takes the roster spot left open by right-hander Phil Hughes, who was placed on the disabled list on Wednesday with what was eventually diagnosed as a stress fracture in his ninth rib. "It gives us an extra guy in the bullpen for a while because we don't need a fifth starter until May 10," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. Veras, 27, had nine saves and a 1.38 ERA in 13 relief appearances at Triple-A, allowing eight hits while walking four and striking out 21 over 13 innings. I then took some pale green cardstock and stamped with Versamark a random floral design which i then heat embossed using green embossing powder. This was cut to a mat, edged with the same chalk ink and applied to the centre of the card. Two tags were added (K & Co), again edged with chalk ink, and held in place with pale green floral brads. While no parts caused any accidents, many have been recalled. What's behind the supply-chain hiccups? Basically, the shrinkage of the domestic nuclear industry after it went walkabout in the late 1970s, the paper says. To fill the gap, foreign or inexperienced firms have started making small but critical components for reactors. Says the WSJ: NRC Chairman Dale Klein has expressed concern about the supply chain, noting that 1,350 American companies were members of the American Nuclear Society, the key professional association for the industry, in 1977.

Worried about the Meat Recall in your Child's School?
After my last post I was thinking about how I would be feeling if I had school age children who might have eaten some of the recalled meat (described first in this post, and then again in yesterday's post below). I do know from reading the articles that thankfully no one has been sickened yet (that we know of) by the possibly tainted meat. I would want to know if in the very least, the meat has been seperated and set aside, out of the risk of consumpution by children. One Vermont paper contacted a few schools to see what they are doing about the recalled meat, and it was encouraging to read that one school had set the recalled meat aside after the investigation by the USDA was launched two weeks ago. All the groups they contacted had taken the meat out of use. If you are a Vermont rea
