Roses are red, violets are blue, oranges are orange, and lemons are yellow. Is this a rhyme gone wrong? No, it's the beginning of a recipe for good health. Each of these and, in fact, almost every plant whether fruit, vegetable or flower contains an ingredient that gives the plant its color and helps ward off natural predators. That ingredient is bioflavonoids and, in the human, their function is

I enjoyed the first film a few years back. Spider-Man 2 was iffy and Spider-Man 3 simply annoyed me. Last year, I was rewarded with the news that Sam Raimi wasn’t interested in continuing the series and it would probably be passed to a new director, which might bring a fresh look to the film. [...]

Do we really need more people?A city's size alone does not seem to result in economic growth or leadershipWeekend • May 3, 2008RICHARD HARTUNGSINGAPORE'S population is too small to compete globally! This constant refrain, tied to the concept that Singapore needs a rapidly growing population to sustain economic growth, seems to lie at the heart of the argument for increasing the population by millions. The size of many cities at the forefront of innovation and economic growth in other locations, however, belies this need for a large population. Indeed, bringing in small numbers of the right people rather than just lots more workers, and focusing on creating the right environment for growth, may be more important. Think about innovative cities around the world. In the United States, Silicon
Lem Marshall, Special Counsel for the Virginia Association of Realtors gave a presentation this morning called "Advanced Short-Sales". It proved to be an excellent presentation that probably should have been called "What Realtors REALLY need to know about short-sales to successfully deal with one". Some of the things in the presentation that Lem covered were: The history of lending in America, how credit markets work and why we're in this mess. Prices may not be at the bottom yet. It...

Everything I get out of the wardrobe seems to have holes in it, and it can't just be the bunny surely. Of course, at the moment the jumper I'm wearing is also covered in rabbit fur, but that's because he's moulting like mad and insists on climbing all over me when I've got the treats in hand. Very cute, but how am I going to get this fur off everything? Anyway, the jumper also has a couple of holes under the left arm, the shirt I was going to wear the other day ditto, most of my socks have holes (but that might be the rabbit), and I had to get a new bra last week due to an unexpected tear. Will have to go through the wardrobe and have a chuck out session to clear some space I suppose. I threw out a pair of boots yesterday because I had got fed up with having to get the damn things re-

It may surprise you, but I am not talking about sex here. I am talking about the second greatest thing that you do in your beds - SLEEP. In an age when we are constantly pushing ourselves harder and harder, sleep is usually the first thing that we deprive ourselves of when our schedules get tight. Why is that? People just don’t realize how important it is, that’s why.
How much sleep we each need, depends upon a few things and it varies greatly from person to person. Each person inherits a genetic need for sleep. Your daily activities play a role too. If you drink caffeine, if you drink alcohol, or if you smoke, all play into the equation. Also, your 24 daily cycle - called circadian rhythm. Most people fall into one of two categories. You are either a short sleeper or a long s
It's been a crazy couple of days here in FFB world. Monday morning while pulling out of the garage we had a little fender bender. Perhaps door bender is more accurate. The driver side door wasn't completely closed so when we pulled out it snagged the garage wall. Next thing we know the door is open more than 90 degrees. Now it won't shut and there's door and fender damage. We had the car towed to a collision place that was recommended. I called our insurance and reported the accident. They seem to be taking care of everything.Fortunately I have a rental car on my policy so Tuesday morning was spent getting a rental car. My insurance company set up the reservation which was great. The rental place picked me up (20 minutes late) and drove me to their location. Thing is, insurance
I know I was supposed to post this a lot earlier, and I apologize for that, but here it goes. Because of my crappy laptop, and because SL hates me and is getting worse and worse for me (PC requirements wise), I have to pause working on this blog for a while, or at least posting photos. The photos from the last few posts (Another Shop skin mods by Imperial Elegance, Mourning Glory, and Do a good deed today - donate to charity) were taken from my bf's PC, but unfortunately he doesn't get his butt off his PC, so if I want to take photos, I either need to stay up all night, or wake up at abnormal times like 5 or 6 a.m. to do my work. So just as a demonstration so you can understand my decision better here are two photos of the same hair by GuRL 6 - one taken by me and the other one taken from

When You Really Need It Clean: An Introduction To Pressure Washers
We all know that keeping our tools, homes, and vehicles clean not only beautifies them, improving their appearance, but also helps to keep them working properly as well. Search engine optimization is something that no company thatkeeps a presence online can afford to ignore. The internet isdifficult, if not entirely impossible to navigate without thethe use of a search engine like Google, and when you think aboutall the traffic that filters through Google on a daily basis, itis obvious that search engine optimization can serve as anenormous benefit to business that draw some or all of theircustomers through their webpage. Through search engine optimization, you will take advantage ofthe people who are coming through search engines like Google. The goal of search engine optimization is to ensure that thelink to your site is as close to the top of the list of naturalsearch results as possible when words relating to their businessare searched. Because more than fifty percent of all purchasesonline are preceded by the use of a search engine and becausepeople seldom tend to look below the first four or five resultsof their search, it can be seen that search
How bloody stupid are parents these days, that someone like New Democrat, Leonard Krog feels compelled to table a bill banning people from smoking in cars with children under the age of 16—and furthermore, what about people 17 years and older? Don’t they deserve the right to breathe without the stench and long term damage of second hand smoke as well?
While Wolfville, Nova Scotia councillors recently passed just such a smoking bill, it’s sadly mindblowing that there’s even a need.

As far as web-literate consumers are concerned, internet search engines generally offer the best way to track down a local plumber or find out where the local pet shop is based. The boundaries of internet and traditional start-ups have blurred After all, a reputable company will have its own website, right? Wrong. In a world where e-trading has become as mainstream as microwaved ready meals, it comes as a shock to many to discover that no more than half of Britain's small to medium-sized businesses have a web presence. But those are the facts, according to the Federation of Small Businesses, which represents about 210,000 firms. After a flurry of activity a few years ago, when a steady stream of its members flocked into cyberspace, demand has stagnated. Which is a shame, according to the Federation's IT chairman, Peter Scargill, who insist companies must "keep up or lose out". This is more than ever the case in today's business c
by Kara GloverYou’ve got a five-hour flight from Los Angeles to New York City, and one battery in your laptop. You’ve got work to do, DVDs to watch, and games to play. How are you going to get that battery to last? Well, hidden inside (and outside) your computer are lots of tricks to help you.Dimming Your ScreenYour screen and hard drive use up more battery power than any other parts of your computer. You can dim down your screen to a point where your eyes still feel comfortable but you also save energy. On most laptops, you first dim the screen by holding down the “Fn” key (go ahead and find it because you may never have used it before). Then you look for a key on your laptop that either has a picture of a sun or a half-moon. (On my Sony Vaio that key happens to be F5.) If you find it, go ahead and hit it while still holding down the Fn key. A brightness adjustment box should show up on your screen. If you can’t find a key with a sun or half-moon on it, try hitting your vari
You don’t need a big block of knives. I would bet that you won’t even use half of them more than a few times. My old knife block sits gathering dust in a corner and I suspect it’s in good company.
As someone who cooks A LOT and has worked in commercial kitchens I know that there are only a few knives you truly need. The other 20-or-so knives get sporadic use at best and even then, one of the three essentials could probably have accomplished the same job. Depending on who you speak to, having an army of knives suited for specific tasks could be either luxurious or cumbersome. I’ve even seen a knife specifically meant to cut sandwiches. But when you are on a budget and want the biggest bang for your buck the true “everyday” kitchen knives are the way to go.
I believe that cutlery is one area where quality and functionality trumps sheer quantity. You may think that cheap set of 30-knives is giving you more for your money but it just isn’t t
Our body deserves best quality nutrients available but the question arises are we people consuming right supplements. Commonly gym going youngsters start taking supplement without doctors advice. They try synthetic stuff instead of natural supplements. Moreover due to medical ignorance they don't know which mineral is needed to body at particular time. Resultant is that body cannot utilize the supplements and have adverse effects. To avoid the complications natural substance that can be metabolized by body to give energy and build tissue should be used. They can be natural foods and fruits, organic plant extracts, honey based foods, fish oil, juices and other natural nutrients. The body must be fed with dietary supplements and not with the junk. One of the biggest advantages now a day is easy availableness of required food and supplements. Online Prayer Request I have not seen my dad for 4 years, since he lives in China. When I travelled thousand miles from USA and rushed to see him in the emergency room in China today, he was unconscious and did not response to my visit. The doctors said there was nothing they can do to save his life, since he suffers brain bleeding. God, I know Only YOU can do things humanly impossible. Please show Your mercy and miracle on my dad. At least, I really want to say “good bye” to him and he knows I love him.
Please pray for my dad’s health!
Theo Walcott was quoted in the Sunday Express yesterday, talking about his expectations for the coming season. The premise for the ’story’ was his request that supporters give him time and do not expect ‘miracles’ or him to be a direct replacement for Thierry Henry. I have yet to see anyone say that but it is a fair point to raise; Walcott is about four years off being a regular twenty goals a season man, in my opinion anyway. He noted that his own targets for the coming season are,
I want to get 10 goals next season and I would like to make 20 or 25 starts
Which is a fair personal goal to set yourself. But it raises an interesting question to my mind, namely if Arsene decides not replace TH14 directly, are there enough goals in the squad to sustain a challenge for the title. Your initial reaction may be same as mine, ‘not bleeding likely’ but is Arsene so wrong if he opts not to sign a striker. In terms of numbers, there are four at the Club and t
An Unconventional War
July 1st, 2007
Many people directly involved in this war have said that we are up against an unconventional enemy. Furthermore, they say that our enemy is fighting this unconventional war unconventionally. And yet, we continue to fight this war as soldiers and with “honor”… as if there is supposed to be some sort of civility in war. The last I checked, war was war because it was war. I’ve also heard the saying that there are no “rules” in love and war. And if there are rules in war… our enemy doesn’t seem to want to follow them and we are losing because of it. We used to know what that was about… but wait a second… I’ve heard this story somewhere before.
Oh ya… now I remember… it was in history class…
Remember the revolutionary war? If my memory serves me right, the British wanted to fight that war with civility and with rules. They fought shoulder to shoulder in rows because for a great many years, that’s the w
In a previous post, I contemplated on the role and usefulness of humanitarian aid, just at the moment the G8 countries pledged $60 billion more to Africa...The rich world has spent $2.3 trillion over 50 years on aid to the worlds' poorest countries, yet poverty grinds on relentlessly. Bono still thinks aid can be effective as long as it's "backed up by the right concepts and strictly monitored", according to this alertnet article. And then there are the world's billionaires, all 946 of them. Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates tops the list, as through his Gates Foundation, he contributed $1.5 billion budget for health projects in the developing world. This equals the entire annual budget of the U.N. World Health Organisation. No wonder developmental economist Jeffrey Sachs thinks billionaires alone could "save the continent" by donating only a 5 percent of their income per year."Not so", says Michela Wrong in Britain's News Statesman: "Aid has been hugely oversold, both by those who thin

As I waited at the dealership, I read TravMonkey’s latest post entitled Blogging Awards, Do We Really Need Them in reaction to the Blogger’s Choice Awards. I had a strong reaction (great strategy Paul!), having been nominated myself, so I would like to share my thoughts on why blogging awards are a positive force.
“Now do we really need these awards? I mean surely people vote for your blog by visiting and becoming a regular reader? What other recognition could you need?”
Yes, I consider every new reader, whether a first-timer, or regular, a vote of confidence in my writing and future travels. Still, being nominated for an award is like receiving recognition at work. Sure, I appreciate a pat on the back from my boss for a job well done, however I feel more
Have you ever had one of those days where half way through you discover you’re wearing your underwear inside out? I’m never sure what to do when that happens. After going that long with them inside out, is it best to just leave them that way or should they be turned right side out? Usually I just end up changing them altogether because I can’t decide.
I’ve been having a lot of inside out underwear days, lately due to lack of sleep. I’m just not getting any. Sleep. I’m up peeing every hour and in between trips to the potty, I’m nauseous or having a stupid dream in which my baby is born with three heads.
All of this non-sleeping is having an effect on me during the day. I’m just not as good. Normally, I would know better than to allow Julia to retrieve a hard-boiled Easter egg from the refrigerator to eat, but non-sleep Leslie thought it was a good idea. The result was five broken raw eggs in the bottom of my fridge.

It is said that “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration”. When it comes to graphic design I think that inspiration plays a much greater role. It’s more the “what” then the “how”. In today’s digital age, we have software that gives a wide group of people the ability to do design and layout in there home or office. This was once reserved for only the design professional. Now don’t get me wrong, just because you own a hammer doesn’t make you a carpenter. I know that. But, if your handy, coordinated and what the DYI channel on cable, you can proberly do a decent job around the house. Back to graphic design, from MS Publisher to Adobe CS2 and all the software in between, non pro’s now have a larger choice than ever before. But that’s not enough, these tools will not make you a graphic designer by themselves. This is where inspiration come in, the internet has turned many a person in to a
Learning how to stop teeth grinding can be a difficult process for those who have this disorder. For many people, they don't even know they do it until they visit the dentist and find damaged teeth. Here's an overview of bruxism and how anxiety and teeth grinding may be having an effect on your life. Bruxism is simply an abnormal chewing action that is caused by your brain becoming inactive while you are sleeping and allowing the reflex chewing activity to remain active. Approximately 30 to 40 million people in the U.S. grind their teeth at night. About half don't even realize it. Bruxism is also one of the biggest factors in losing teeth, as well as the single biggest factor for occlusal disease. Over the course of time, teeth grinding can create major problems. It wears down the teeth to s stump. It can also lead to jaw problems such as TMJ. While experts can't pinpoint an exact cause of bruxism, anxiety and teeth grinding seem to go hand in hand. Stress creates muscle tension an

Hi all...so have been re-arranging my sewing room/office and I have a serger, ,my Brother Innovis-1200 and my Green Hello Kitty Machine...And Also a Viking Freesia which will quite possibly end up either on Ebay or in the classifieds here.
Anyway, I'm trying to decided how much I *really* need that serger. Sure it's *fabulous* when you need to finish off a raw seam etc. I bought it last summer and have to say I haven't used it more than 5 times. I just don't have the real estate for all these machines.
Do pinking shears really work to keep things from not raveling (like say a skirt?). I know my Mom always used to use them and it's quite possibly much faster to sew those seams with the serger than to pink them...but a pair of pinking shears also take up much less space. And I do
Sometimes I go overboard making fun of people who drive cars that I don't like. But not this time. Toyota's "Look at us - we're on the Internet" blog has a post about a guy who claims to have converted his Prius to look like a shuttle from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Whereas before he had a car that should have gotten all the chicks, he probably now has to scrape them off the hood of the car. Willie Yee - a psychiatrist! - has painted his Prius (Sharpie?), put on new space-age wheels, and a has a CD with sound effects from Star Trek that makes the sound system display look vaguely Enterprise-ish. Sounds like he really went overboard with the conversion process, which seems about as intense as a four-year-old pimping out his tricycle. So if you see Yee on t
