In my 'pre-frugal' days I would wander aimlessly up and down the aisles of Best Buy looking for new music. Tonight's DBT session taught me a lot about myself. Most importantly, I discovered that I have come a long way in a short amount of time in regards to my recovery. That's a huge step in the recovery process: realizing that you are making progress. But additionally...I discovered that there are two different Jannas. One Janna is worrisome, defeatist, lacks confidence, and is pessimistic. The other Janna, the one most of you know (and hopefully love) is optimistic, happy, and outgoing. The former is the depressed Janna, and the latter is the normal Janna. I'm hoping I can soon enough learn how to effectively eliminate the depressed Janna from my life. Not completely, however; but at least make it so she doesn't show up as often.I think that's all the introspection I can do for now. I need to homework.

Many have said transcending the ego key to realizing who you really are and enlightenment, but so many times people ask me “how.” There is no “how” and no effort to make.
Any “how” is asking for technique that requires an action (effort). Any effort made, would be effort made by the ego…thus reinforcing and strengthening the ego. Trying to do something or making any kind of effort is totally the wrong direction. It has been said that to use the mind to purify or overcome the mind is like using dirt to clean dirty clothes (blood to wash off blood, as a Zen saying goes).
The real “secret” is to cease making effort…let go. I’m not saying stop, because many may then act or make effort in stopping…which is still the wrong direction. Just cease making any efforts and be aware of what is right now. There is nothing to do…let all doing go...what is, right now?

Finding three beautiful things in not so good a day takes an effort. Let's make itÂ… 1) Modern medicines - From the moment I woke up a sudden paroxysm of sneezing thanx to my Allergic Rhinitis, almost crippled me. Trust me when I say it's a disabling condition. I popped in 5 mg of Levocetrizine and within 20 minutes, I was up and about. I even made a full breakfast and lunch, all by myself, with no help from Patty who is still not talking to me. Kudos to modern medicine. 2) Plumbing -Somehow the water supply in the main bathroom where the water heater is fitted, was cut off for two whole days. Today it got fixed, and I could have a nice warm bath as opposed to the cold showers I took for two days. 3) A realization - Cooking a full lunch all by myself from scratch, not asking for help out of pride, mad me realize what mom must feel like when she does it every single day. There's another, even more unusual thing about him, though; he's been impotent his entire life.
