According to reputable publications Cloud Cult have released a new album. It comes barely a year after ‘The Meaning of 8’, a sprawling affair that I’ve yet to fully tame. If that album (their 7th) is anything to go Cloud Cult appear to have its fingers in lots of different pies. This is old news but a great talking point so I am drawing some attention to it. In the video Burt Reynolds slaps a reporter…GASP, the horror! So why would Burt Reynolds do such a thing? Well, Burt Reynolds slapped the CBS reporter at premier of film “The Longest Yard” when the reporter admits he never saw the original. Sounds reasonable to me!
Burt Reynolds is a man’s man and has never worried about what people think but he also has never shown himself to be mean spirited, quite the opposite. In the video Burt is clearly smacking the “guy” upside the head for being an idiot. Now if it was a female reporter then perhaps Burt’s move would have been inappropriate but in a man’s world body contact like this is normal behavior. Guys give each other a hard time for being idiots and yes a smack in the head is appropriate sometimes.

Ok, so it’s official, the internets hate the Kindle. I guess it isn’t surprising, but it got me thinking about their arguments and why I, on the other hand, was kind of excited by it.
The most common argument is that we already have laptops and iPhones why the hell do we need yet another form factor to tote around? The first half is easy - laptops? Is there any significant portion of society who is reading books on their computers? Bringing their laptop to the beach for some light reading? Pulling out their laptop while they’re in a line to finish reading that last chapter? Busting it out on the subway to catch up on the latest, while looking like a complete tool and mugging target? The answer, my friend is no. The laptop argument is just silly.
