If, like me, you experience on a daily basis the displeasure that is public transport then you’ll already know where Jeffman’s coming from.
There are those less charitable than my good self that might say the problem with public transport is that they let the public use it…
Well. There was a time, in some long-forgotten and [...]

I've been planning my features on green politics, and as I'm taking a break I thought I'd blog. Don't worry, I'm not slacking.Today's Times has some interesting details on the new eco-towns. Sadly, the rather yummy diagram in the print edition isn't included in the link, so either buy a copy, hang around outside a recycling centre or offer me some avocado and bacon sandwiches and I'll show you my
Something that annoys me on a pretty much daily basis is the general lack of manners displayed by many of my fellow commuters on the underground and on the buses. Good manners cost nothing as my grandma used to say.
Here's my thoughts on good manners and consideration for fellow travellers:
1. Do not jump the queue. Wherever it is, it is there for a reason e.g. when approaching the escalators
DUBAI — The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the franchisee taxi companies have planned to upgrade public transport services and performance standards, according to a press release yesterday. (...)
The big news across town today was the announcement by Mayor Boris that alcohol is to be banned across the public transport network in London. This was met with a mixture of delight and derision depending on the commentator.
The stated idea is to make the network a 'safer place'. Granted it could do with some of that. I do not see the need for guzzling drink on the tube (for example); the smell
How many of you depend on this?
Well the reason im asking is because..my public transport in my city all most went on strike today...and i realized if they did..i have no means of transport! im pretty much stuck at my house. And so will other millions of people..many of us depend on subways,busses..etc. I don't understand why in my city its not an essential service (means they can't go on strike)..and to be honest its frustrating every 2 years they decide to scare the civilians and say their going on strike..and that means when they agree on a deal..they hike up the bus/subway fares! So unfair. my second question is....If your public transport in your city went on strike..how will it affect you?
Me+Bff on the subway :)
I caught the train from Lewisham to the city this morning in peak hour - 8:00am…
I don’t think I’ve really done that before… ever. When I caught the train for wark as a tradesman, it was always at 6:00am, which is hardly peak hour.
I’m not sure if it was a good experience or not… on the upside, it was air conditioned, and it was good to see so many people using public transport. But on the downside, we were crammed in like sardines… I’m not sure if the experience has me feeling more violated from the invasion of personal space, or left me with greater sense of community and public bonding… Either way, I don’t think I’ll be longing for the experience again anytime soon, if ever.
Beijing’s Public TransportAccording to a report in City Weekend magazine public transport usage within Beijing is at an all time high. The report suggests that use of the new popular Line 5, along with a decrease in fares, is responsible for the changed habits of local commuters. While all of Beijing’s underground rail system is easy to use and navigate, the new Line 5 is certainly the cleanest and most user friendly part of the system. Maps light up and show the current progress along the line and there are English announcements of station names in each carriage. One of the most popular destinations for Beijing Visitors on this line is the Yong He Gong station. The Lama Temple here is well worth a visit.Tickets costing 2rmb to travel to any destination can be bought at ticket windows in each station. Multi-trip electronic cards can also be bought. Users can also add extra credit to the cards for taxi fares and convenience store purchases in Quick Stores. Most taxis are not set up t
