Statistical Values for Foreign Trade Processes in SAP MM
Use Every item a country imports or exports must have a statistical value associated with it when it passes through customs. The statistical value is the net domestic value (fair market value) of a product when it crosses a border. That’s when everybody knew that the ‘dentally-challenged’ actor had made his mark. Before the promo was aired, however, few were sure of its success. The promo was not a raving hit. CryoPID: Freeze and Unfreeze processes in Linux
CryoPID is an application that allows you to capture the state of a running process in Linux and save it to a file. You can use this file to resume the process later on, either after a reboot or even on another machine. Both x86 and x86_64 are supported and you can get sources for these platforms accordingly here and here. Ubuntu users can use aptitude or apt-get to install this utility (sudo aptitude install cryopid). After installation program freeze will be available allowing you to suspend process(es) into a file(s) and resume them later. The file you capture process' state to is self-executing, so to resume process it’s enough to run that file. One of the major features is that fact that freeze can be run by regular user (not root) and doesn't need any kernel modifications. Here is common cryopid usage example: let’s imagine you use MUTT that has thousands e-mails indexed that you don't want to be closed and re-indexed. But at the same time you may want to start so

I can run as a limited user, and when I want I can launch a command line window, or any other program as an administrator.Unfortunately it doesn't work the same in Vista. Yes - the RunAs command works perfectly fine. But because of the way UAC works it does not give me full administrative access. Why? Because when I launch another process as an administrator it still needs to be elevated. If you have not used Vista yet I will explain. All users by defa

      Monitor Processes With Bash Scripts
Have you ever wanted to monitor some processes on your system using a Bash script? Well, I have had to many times. Usually I’m running a script or program that is processing large amounts of data and I want to keep an eye on it’s progress. Well, it’s actually quite easy. Peaking At Processes The foundation of this is the ps command, which will report a snapshot of the current processes. You can look at the man page to get an idea of all the options you have for listing processes. If you know the PID (process ID) of what you want to monitor then you can run the command like this: ps up <PID> The u option specifies to display in a user-oriented format. The p allows you to specify the PID of whichever process you would like listed. And of course you would substitute <PID> with the actual numeric PID. Of course I usually like to keep an eye on several different processes, who’s PIDs I may not actually know. In that case what I do is get a listing of all

How To Disable Background Processes In Windows XP
Overview Disabling background processes in Windows XP is one of the steps necessary to improve the performance of your computer. Many of the programs which run behind the scenes are important system applications. On the other hand, many of them are not needed at all but still run whenever the computer is on. They can waste memory which could be used for other things and pose security risks. This article explains how to get to your list of services and disable the ones which most people rarely use. Included are explanations of the needless Windows XP background processes and why they are probably not useful. How To Get To The List of Services 1) Click 'Start' 2) Click 'Run' 3) In the box that says 'Open:' type the following: services.msc 4) Hit 'Enter' This will open up the list of background processes. How To Disable An Item From The List 1) Click the item once to highlight it. 2) Right-click the item to pull down

A First Course in Stochastic Processes, Second Edition
Book DescriptionThe purpose, level, and style of this new edition conform to the tenets set forth in the original preface. The authors continue with their tack of developing simultaneously theory and applications, intertwined so that they refurbish and elucidate each other. The authors have made three main kinds of changes. First, they have enlarged on the topics treated in the first edition. Second, they have added many exercises and problems at the end of each chapter. Third, and most important, they have supplied, in new chapters, broad introductory discussions of several classes of stochastic processes not dealt with in the first edition, notably martingales, renewal and fluctuation phenomena associated with random sums, stationary stochastic processes, and diffusion theory. About the AuthorHoward E. Taylor is a research chemist with the National Research Program, Water Resources Division, U.S. Geological Survey located in Boulder, Colorado. Give More Time for Processes to Close at Shutdown
When you shut down Windows, XP gives each process, service, or application 20 seconds to close before the operating system turns off the computer. If the process, service, or application doesn't shut down within 20 seconds, a dialog box appears, prompting you to either wait 20 more seconds, immediately end the process, service, or application, or cancel shutdown. If this dialog box appears frequently, you might be running an application, service, or process that often takes more than 20 seconds to close. To solve the problem, you can increase the amount of time that XP waits to display the dialog box so that the dialog box will no longer appear. To do so, run the Registry Editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop. Look for the String value WaitToKillAppTimeout. Edit the value by entering the amount of time you want XP to wait before displaying the dialog box, in milliseconds. The default is 20000, or 20 seconds. If you want XP to wait 25 seconds, enter the value 25000. E

When Business Processes Fail: Credit Card (In)Security, Anyone? Everyone?
I read with fascination and horror a recent posting by Bennett Hasleton, a freelance programmer based in Seattle who also happens to maintain the Web site and mailing lists for a group called. That organization advocates for freedom of speech for and against censorship of younger people (who, perhaps coincidentally, are typically too young to vote). The organization has provided useful information for numerous anti-censorship campaigns and lawsuits, some of which have been successful.  But that’s another story entirely.  The recent posting by Mr. Hasleton’s that thrilled and chilled me appears at Slashdot.org, and is entitled It basically lays out how easy it is to find active, working credit card numbers online. The article also lays out how easy it would be for the credit card companies to curtail or eliminate the problem, via simple alterations of business processes and perhaps a Perl script or two.  That’s not the chilling part, though. The chilling part is that

What the hell does all that mean? Well, let's do the easy part first: CPU Usage. This is simply a graphical view of your current CPU usage, nothing special. You'll see it spike here and there, especially if you open a program or something similar. The next two graphs are referred to as "PF Usage" and "Page File Usage History", but this is misleading because it doesn't actually refer to the amount of your page file being used, but is the commit charge. So what is the commit charge? Well the Total Commit Charge is actually the current amount of RAM (physical memory) and virutal memory being used. It's a combination of both! Have you ever had a program freeze on you and that refuses to close or disappear? Or maybe you've noticed that your computer is suddenly running supremely slow, but there's no major processing going on that you can see visibly (open apps, etc)? In that case, you might have a process running on your system that is hogging all of the CPU time or taking up loads and loads of memory.Well, the Windows Task Manager can help you out in some of these situations to help determine the cause and get rid of the problem application. First off, the Task Manager's purpose in life is to provide computer performance information along with details about currently running programs and processes.
