Sometimes the simplest ideas are best. While a number of startups are working to bring the whole process of creating presentations online, SlideShare recognizes that many people are mostly satisfied with PowerPoint or Keynote. They just want an easy way to share their traditional presentation files with others.
So the company took the YouTube strategy of [...]

Now that CF.Objective is over its time to try to remember all those presentations we watched, or track down the ones we missed. Luckily Todd Sharp has released a new site that will archive presentations online. Its pretty sweet. Trouble is, he launched it during cf.O and lots of people missed it since they were so busy (and had spotty web access).
So this is just a quick request to the presenters, please post your stuff to SlideSix.com so we can review it.

Even if the Google Docs presentation feature isn't quite an old function on the web, users adopted the function pretty well and this only encouraged the Mountain View company focus more on its development. A few days ago, Google rolled out what seems to be the first important update for presentations as it released two new features which would obviously provide better functionality to Google Docs users: speaker notes and YouTube support. The speaker notes are mostly useful if you're one of those people who use the Google service to create presentations and share them to the entire audience. Using the new function, you're able to write down special notes or information that wouldn't be revealed to the ones viewing the presentation. "Seasoned presenters keep their slides simple and

In spite of the popularity of cross training, most people as a rule aren’t asked to do something totally out of their field. Yet almost everyone in a corporate or professional setting these days is expected, even required, to give presentations. Public speaking is a profession that requires training and practice just like any other. But we’re constantly being pushed to the front of the room to sell, educate, persuade, dazzle and shine. It can be scary for some and downright debilitating for others. Here are my top ten "P’s" for giving Powerful Presentations. 1. The Plan In choosing your topic, realize the best speakers speak from their own experiences. This tutorial will take you through each of the steps involved in creating slide transitions using the free presentation software Impress from Open Office.org.
Start by opening your presentation. Then make sure that two specific panes are displayed - Task and Slide.
Select the first slide in your presentation from the Slides pane.
In the Tasks pane, select the Slide Transition section.
Here’s where you can create transitions. Start by viewing a few of them. Just select the transition name from the Apply to selected slides list. Each time you select one, it will be previewed in the main window. Find one that you’re happy with and leave it selected.
Now determine at which speed you’d like the transition to occur. Again, try out the different settings by selecting them from the Speed pull-down menu. If you’d like to add a sound to each transition, try out some of the defaults by selecting them from the Sound pull-down menu. You can also add your own

Whether giving presentations is the thing you dread most, or just another day at the office, it’s a skill that can always be improved. Dawn Smith gathers some tips and advice from public speaking gurus on how to overcome stage-fright, engage the audience and make your presentations shine.
The New York Times famously reported in 1984 that speaking in public was most people’s biggest fear, ranking higher than death.
For a trainer, presenting to delegates is likely to be daily bread. However, even those experienced at talking to groups can choke when faced with an unfamiliar scenario. “Most people are capable of presenting one-to-one, or even one-to-ten, but various things can conspire to make them nervous,” says Gavin Ingham, a speaker and author who also teaches “Powerful Presenting” courses. The fear-inducing factor may be how important the event is, how many people will be there, who else will be listening, whether it’s being re

Google Inc. has expanded its online suite of office software to include a business presentation tool similar to Microsoft Corp.'s popular PowerPoint, adding the latest twist in a high-stakes rivalry. The Mountain View-based company planned to unveil the presentation software late Monday, about five months after Chief Executive Eric Schmidt announced Google would add the application to its software arsenal. The new program will be included in Google's free software bundle, called "Docs," which users must be online to employ. And the company will sell a souped-up version to businesses, universities and government agencies for $50 a year per user.As PowerPoint does, Google's presentation software enables users to create a series of slides with a mixture of text and graphics on each. Infor

Google Presentation’s Greatest Strengths Are Collaboration And Interactive Presentation
When I introduced Google’s latest app yesterday, I was in a bit of a hurry and really didn’t do a very good job of illustrating it’s capabilities or explaining what I thought it’s strength’s were. Today I’d like to take this just a bit further and talk about the two features that distinguish it and also show you how you can use it and other existing presentation tools to generate content for your own website.
Collaboration
By far, the best feature of Google’s new Presentation App, is the ability to collaborate in real time on presentations. This is true for all of the Google Apps, including Docs and Spreadsheets. In this case, making a presentation application collaborative has some real advantages. A team working on a listing presentation could all be working on the same presentation at the same time to generate a better document faster. I can see thi

Back in June, Google acquired Zenter which is a company that provides software for creating online slide presentations. This was a good news for all Google Docs users as they knew soon Google would be adding online slide presentation features to the Google Docs family and finally after a time of 3 months we see that Google Presentations has come to reality.
Make Online Presentations with Google Presentations
Google Presentations is the new online product that has been introduced to the Google Docs and Spreadsheets family. Google Presentations has been designed specifically to help you make your work more productive and you can also collaborate with your friends or coworkers while working on a project presentation. Google Presentations will allow you to make online presentations and will also enable you to save them securely on the Internet so you can access your presentations virtually from anywhere around the world.
Google Presentations Features and Overview

In April, Google announced that they would be developing a presentation application for Google Docs to complete their suite of applications. The new application is called Google Presentations.
Maybe more than any other type of document, presentations are created to be shared. But assembling slide decks by emailing them around is as frustrating as it is time-consuming. The new presentations feature of Google Docs helps you to easily organize, share, present, and collaborate on presentations, using only a web browser.
This was announced last night at the Google blog. So, this morning I tested it out a bit. It’s easy to use and does what it says it does - creates an online slideshow that is given it’s own URL so it’s easy to share. You can also collaborate simultaneously on the presentations and, according to Google, “When it’s time to present, participants can simply click a link to follow along as the presenter takes the audience through the slideshow.&rdqu
Doing audio visual presentations along with the proper tools and equipment for a visual presentation are crucial for its success. When presenting with a very huge crowd, the size of the text should be big enough to see the people especially at the back side of the room. It is also important to emphasize color contrasts. It means that when the background exhibits a light or bright color, the foreground text color should be dark so that it is readable. Text and image sizes should also be proportion with each other. The bigger the text and image, the better. One paragraph or bullet of a presentation may represent single or two images within the slide. In creating presentation layouts, it is also important that simple but well designed templates must be used. Don't make it too dry to look dull but not too much with so many overlapping elements as audience will be distracted. In presenting ideas and opinions, do not present so many text within a paragraph. Present only what is important an
Anyone who has had to present on a GIS topic (or GIS-related topic) is aware of the challenges that are inherent in effectively disseminating both technical and non-technical information to a diverse audience. After recently attending a GIS conference, I was reminded of why I strive to abide by Guy Kawasaki’s 10/20/30 rule for Power Point presentations.
The 10/20/30 rule goes as follows: a PowerPoint presentation should have ten slides, last no more than twenty minutes, and contain no font smaller than thirty points. Before I delve into the rest of this post, I should provide some context by stating that Guy Kawasaki is a venture capitalist who has to listen to hundreds of business plan pitches by aspiring entrepreneurs.
In his blog post about the 10/20/30 rule, Guy points out that this rule is applicable for any presentation to reach agreement. Thus, in the context of GIS presentations, where the bulk of these presentations are aimed more at sharing information, I would po
I have been at a conference today and don’t have too much time to write this, so this will be a quick article. After watching lots of speakers of varying competence I though that it would be good to outline some tips for great presentations. Speaking is an integral part of a scientist’s job, and honing these skills will is great for both your career and your confidence. Here is my 10 cents worth - feel free to add more of your own tips in the comments field below: (more…)
There are many applications that can help your business creating tutorials or how to use software (like a tutor for MS-Word/Excel etc). One of them is Wink, a freeware available for all flavours of Windows and various versions of Linux.
Using Wink you can capture screenshots, add explanations boxes, buttons, titles etc and generate a highly effective tutorial for your users.
You can also add audio to your tutorials and export your tutorials or presentation in many available formats (SWF, PDF, PostScript, HTML and EXE). Using smart capture tools, you can easily grab screenshots from your pc based on mouse and keyboard input.
Wink is a nice tool for your business, and it’s free.

Many times I was asked about an online application that let us create business presentations. I just find PrezentIt, a community where someone can create (by himself of in group), share and show business presentations.
This endeavor, created in Peru, allows users to create up to 30 presentations and store up to 30 MB of images.
Ah, by the way, PrezentIt is totally free. You only need to register. Nice tool, but, IMO, needs to make some extra improvements and increase the storage per user.
Articulate Presenter lets non-technical users create e-learning courses by adding narration and interactivity to a standard PowerPoint file. At the press of the button, your presentation is transformed into a compelling Flash-based course. With Articulate Presenter, one can: Develop and deliver content fast, while it's timely and relevant.Enable subject matter experts across the organization to participate in content development. Distribute your message widely in a format anyone can view. With Articulate Presenter, your PowerPoint content is converted to Flash, which is already installed in 98% of Web browsers. Articulate Presenter's PowerPoint to Flash conversion reduces the size of your presentations so they download fast.
Previously when there was a buzz about Gmail’s latest features it was about the new up sized file attachment size which had been increased to 20 MB solid. This was a good initiative by Microsoft as it would allow Gmail users to upload and email home videos as well as mail big size presentations.

Recently, Gmail was experimenting with a new feature in its mail system which would allow you to view PowerPoint Presentations online without downloading them to your desktop. This feature has now been made official by Google and this will definitely add more spice to the Gmail family.

Opening your PowerPoint Presentations in Gmail is as easy a pie.

Time to bring out the heavy artillery — I need my Real Estate Shows!
I’ll drive by the house ahead of time and take several pictures of the house and even the neighborhood. Since they are only going to be exterior photos, I’ll have to be a little creative. I can hope for a porch swing or pretty flowers, or maybe a freshly painted front door to focus on. I’ll do my best to get flattering angles of their home.
Then I’ll whip up a Show at RealEstateShows.com. I’ll make a CD with a nice cover (again, with a picture of their home) to give it to them at the presentation.
Next I’ll make up a possible flier and mock up an advertisement. I’ll leave out details I don’t know, but this will make a nice example for my possible clients to look over after I’ve gone.

People speak in public for many reasons. One of the most common forms of public speaking is the ‘Presentation’. In a presentation, you ‘present’ or introduce something (a product, an idea, financial results, a project etc) to your audience. You give a presentation because you want to ‘communicate’ something. Generally, you want to do one of four things. You want:
to inform
to train
to persuade
to sell
A presentation is one of the best ways of communicating your message. And because English is so widely used in international business, a knowledge of the vocabulary and techniques used in an English language presentation is very useful.
This article will give you 7 of the most important areas to consider when giving any presentation.
1 Preparation
Prepare! Prepare! Prepare! Good preparation is essential for any presentation. With good preparation and planning you will be fully confident. Your audience will feel your confidence. And so your audi

HOW TO MAKE POWERFUL PRESENTATIONS by MANOJ SHARMAI came across, what seemed an unproven and strange fact many years ago (as I am sure you too have) that the majority of people fear giving a speech or making public presentation more than they fear death. At one time, I must confess, I too fell into that category. Today however, I have no problem with getting up on stage and speaking to thousands at a time. Exactly what changed, and what happened, is something I myself find difficult to put a finger on, but what I am clear about is that understanding what makes a wonderful presentation made a huge difference and gave me extraordinary confidence, with practice, over time. Here is a brief outline which will assist you immediately to make compelling presentations too. Put it into action and let me know how it went.1) Start by getting to know your audienceWho are you speaking with? Why are they here? What are their general thoughts on the topic? What are their likely points of view? Are ther
A few days ago I found an interesting blog, Presentation Zen by Garr Reynolds. This blog is about professional business presentations, and has a lot of valuable information to make accurate presentations. It has some funny videos by Don McMillan with interesting advices on this field.I just remembered this blog because I have finished the relationship marketing agency contest for my company, where I have seen all kind presenting ways. From chaotic through the sleeping ones. But at the end, I found the right one. I give a lot of value to this issue, the content is basic, but the way to explain it its as important as it.One of the agencies made a great show, presenting with PowerPoint and flipcharts, with a multidisciplinary team, sharing the explanation, definitively perfect, and at the end, they are the winners, not only by its way of presenting the offer, but this was another reason to select them.I recommend you also visiting the Guy Kawasaki blog, were you can find a post about the

Google Docs and Spreadsheets
Being a hyper Google fan you must already be aware about Google Docs and Spreadsheets which are free online services by Google created in order to compete with Microsoft Word and other Microsoft products. The good thing about these tools is that they are free and easy to use.
Similarly it seems that Google is not only working on competing against standalone products by Microsoft rather its planning to create a whole Google Office Suite online.
Google Presentations
This consideration came to my knowledge as soon as it was announced on the Official Google Blog that the Google Docs and Spreadsheets family would soon be welcoming a new member and that would be Google Presentations.
The new Google Presentations technology that is soon to be welcomed will be managed by Tonic Systems which has recently been acquired by Google. Tonic is an Australian company which excels in Presentation creation and document conversion and as Google states this shall be a great ad
If you think I’ve been goofing off recently with my recent run of Bad MLS photos, cartoons, YouTube videos and public drooling over my wife. Well that was all a cover for doing some overtime on the behind the scenes mouse wheel here at Reagent.
The Listing Tour is finally up. Took far longer than I thought it ever would and it’s still kinda bare bones with just plain text. I’ll be going back over it in a week or so to add images and what not, but for now I can’t stand to look at it anymore.
I think it may be a bit long, so I think I’ll edit a option for readers to take a Cliff Notes version in too when I go back over it. Short Tour, Long Tour. The customer is always right. And yes… video version at some point in the future too.
I’ll be honest – I’ve not been a strong listing agent up to now. The one huge benefit of doing this is it has forced me to think about my entire presentation, philosophy and marketing approach. I&r

I have been yearning for some downtime lately. Being the busy bee that I am, people immediately assume that there is always something going on. Most of the time, they are right. Stress in its noun, adjectival and adverbial forms are constantly part of my constant updates. Oh sheesh. When I find myself less frazzled, I start contemplating on how my life has been reduced to. And yes, I don’t think I can complain. It is what it is. Of course, I find moments in between my constantly intense lifestyle that I ask myself why I do this to myself…

I’m leaving you guys with a picture from our monthly 4D reunion held at Karen’s house last Saturday. I’m so happy that despite going to different colleges, we make it a point to keep in touch and catch up every month. Good times.
We’ve had a few requests for the presentations used at the WebPR+ conferences to be put online… so here they are:
Session 1 – New Media Habits & New Technology Affecting the Practice of PR: Sally Falkow
Session 2 – Online Reputation Management: Rob Stokes
Session 3 – PR & Marketing Opportunities in the Web 2.0 ‘Attention Economy’: Sally Falkow
Session 4 – Responding to the Conversation: Rob Stokes

First off… Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone.
I just got to blog about what an amazing day I have on Valentine’s Day, but it’s not because I received tons of chocolates from hot university classmates. If you are looking for something juicy or even raunchy, then my blog is obviously not the best place to come to. Sooooo… as you might have guessed from the title, it’s once again about my university/work life. However, this week was really special for me because I have so many things to do, all of which requires my immediate attention.
First of all, my boss has a long list of stuff for me to do, but I won’t really blog about them. Just an interesting thing at my workplace… One of my colleagues remarked that I have a very good life, because she claims that when everyone is pressurized over an issue, it doesn’t affect me. It makes me think that people sometimes associate others as being in a better position just because they are
Masterviews International has an interesting post on what to do with your hands during a presentation. With some novice presenters displaying their nervousness by putting their hands in their pockets and others keeping them fixed in place, their suggestion and embedded video tip to move your hands naturally makes lots of sense if you're looking to refine your presentation techniques.
I have seen a professional presenter who intrigued me with her overly deliberative hand gestures. For some reason I found it a bit disconcerting since it led me to focus on her hands rather than on her message or presentation. She used very exagerated motions that at least for the close-in viewer distracted me.
The presentations below outline the strategy behind the business value launch and the launched products.

Macintalk design has an article on giving Keynote presentations on other peoples computers. I'm sure many people have the problem of perfecting a presentation, to have it messed up or incompatible with the computer you are giving the presentation on. The tips mainly involve converting your presentation to a universal format, like PDF or quicktime movie, and it goes into the details of exactly how to do so.From the article:Unless you’re holding a presentation from your own machine, you will run into several problems. This first is that the machine you’re presenting from won’t have Keynote installed, or it won’t have the fonts you need. It might even be running Windows.Tags: mac, tips, mac os x, hints, mac tips, keynote, iwork, powerpoint, presentation
