      Political Correctness, A Psychic Straightjacket
Some who grew up in the former Soviet Union say that Westerners “are at least as brainwashed by Multiculturalism and Political Correctness as they ever were with Communism.” So begins Norwegian blogger Fjordman’s, “Political Correctness – The Revenge of Marxism,” a powerful essay about the long-term consequences of our incomplete victory over the Soviet Union in the Cold War. “We let

Right Wing Political Correctness Strikes Again
This has to be the funniest example of right-wing political correctness I've seen in days."The far-right fundamentalist group replaces the word “gay” in the articles with the word “homosexual.” I’m not entirely sure why, but it seems to make the AFA happy. The group is, after all, pretty far out there. The problem, of course, is that “gay” does not always mean what the AFA wants it t

Political Correctness- It's Time To Give It Up
Anyone who has been reading The Stonecypher since I started blogging two months ago knows how I feel about our current president. It should come as no surprise that I support Barack Obama, but I have an underlying concern if he should become president. My hope is that he would be very good. He might even be great. But he will certainly NOT be perfect. When he stumbles and blunders (and he most cer

      Political Correctness Strikes Again
At this point, I think we libertarians are officially fighting alone when it comes to the war against political correctness. Clearly, after Michelle Malkin's latest, the Right has lost any and all credibility on this front. To recap: in a commercial for Dunkin' Donuts, Lucifer....err, Rachael Ray, wore a scarf that apparently, kinda sorta, looked like a keffiyeh, which is a Palestinian head dress

Political Correctness the Nature of the Beast
I haphazardly came across this post over at Gates of Vienna this afternoon. It was posted last June and bears repeating. There are far to many who who still have yet to understand the actuality behind political correctness, and it’s incestuous relationship with communism. It is short and cuts to the quick so I’ll cross post [...]

      Political Correctness Going Awry?
I’ve begun to ponder the issue of political correctness. Is it synonymous with tolerance? Is it a first cousin perhaps? Has it gone too far or not far enough? I have begun thinking about it, and as you know that can be dangerous. A good deal of what we defend as political correctness is well correct [...]

Political correctness breaks out in Bradford (again!)
Bradford Police in West Yorkshire have had a double dose of political correctness come their way. It seems they can't abide anything English. The gobbledegook stuff they come up with is "health and safety" when they succeeded in banning a St.George's Day parade. The mean-spirited plods, who were in collusion with the council chiefs (a bunch of ne'er-do-well plonkers), just rabbitted on about this one issue. Shame on them. Why don't they go to China to enjoy themselves?Bradford City councillor Quasim Khan said, "We were told by the police at the meeting that the original route had not been risk assessed and if we wanted a march to go ahead on that date, St George's Day, we would have to accept a smaller, different route. The police officers were getting quite animated, saying things like 'l

Political Correctness: The Left Eats It’s Own, Again
The Left Eats It’s Own, Again. It is always fun to watch the left consume one of it’s own on the altar of political correctness. And I do mean to use “altar” in a religious context as political correctness has become the religion of the left. Case in point: An NPR reporter of 27 years innocently uses the term “Darkest Africa” in a report on President Bush’s recent visit to Africa. One ridiculously whiney listener said they were tempted to stop their car to start a protest. Please. Grow the hell up. This is the perfect example of why liberalism is rotten to the core. Liberals have this overwhelming concern about appearance over substance. What else would explain this ridiculous outrage over the term “Darkest Africa”? Do you want to know what offends me as pertains to Afr

      boo to political correctness
I have been saying, "Happy Holidays" for years. Not because I am anti-Christian or don't want to offend people, but because my acquantaince is broad and diverse and I may not be privvy to what they celebrate or believe in. Wishing Happy holidays is simply a way of acknowledging the joyous wishes of the season without being specific. The problem with that is that some people want to lump me in with people who ARE politically correct and want to take the Christ out of Christmas and call it a "winter season" or some ridiculous thing. The USA is founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. Acknowledging that does not diminish the faith or practices of Jehovah's Witnesses, pagans, Rastafarians, or anyone else. Spreading love and cheer in any season is a worthwhile thing and should be encouraged.I don't get politically correct people. Diversity is what makes us all interesting. If you can't have an opinion that is controversial, you won't be able to have an independent thought at all. Someone som

Lancet treads the path of political correctness
The obvious links to terrorism were missed on a routine CRB checkThe Editorial in the Lancet article was blessed by the GMC's own Edwin Borman chairman of the British Medical Association's International Committee who said the "medical profession was doing everything it could to prevent discrimination". Yes, definitely Edwin, lets start by preventing discrimination of UK educated doctors and whistleblowers. To top this off, all is quiet on the Doctors.net.uk according to reports through our email boxes. No one in the medical profession talks about doctors being charged with conspiracy to bomb the hell out of vulnerable people in the UK. No, what the medical profession is doing is treading the path of political correctness and silencing debate of the situation. It is no longer accepted for doctors to speak their mind on these issues for the fear of repurcussions. Has the profession done everything it could to keep the British trained doctors in their jobs? I suspect not. 6000 juniors s

Political Correctness and the Decline of Free Speech
Free speech is under attack. The perpetrator in this case is political correctness. The fact that you have to be careful about what you say for fear of offending someone who doesn’t agree with you is a form of censorship. There is no place for this in a free society. (more…)

Political Correctness Has A New Poster Boy!
As ironic as this might sound to most people, I’m a big fan of Pampanga Governor-elect Ed Panlilio. It takes guts to man up against the wife of an alleged jueteng lord and incumbent in a hotly contested election, but that’s not the reason why I admire him. Yes, he’s a priest. And yes, I know he believes in the higher power that Catholics are taught to accept. Those issues take the backseat compared to how he ran his campaign and how he has kept his humility and political correctness in his success. Unlike other pretentious clergy men who have the despicable urge to inject every holier than thou statement when being interviewed by the media *cough Robert Reyes cough* *cough Eddie Villanueva cough*, Panlilio shows eloquence, maturity and composure in handling his business. I never heard him say things regarding uniting people under a religion or one god. He doesn’t invoke his priesthood as a means of making himself more ’suitable’ or more ‘close

Political Correctness hits high speed on the autobahn
I've been in Germany many times and the thrill of the autobahn is incredible. It is a super maintained road that car enthusiasts can't help but love. My first time on the autobahn I was with a friend taking me to an airport in his BMW and he was in the middle lane doing about 120 MPH and we were being passed constantly. This is the one thing that has always been considered untouchable in German politics. An autobahn speed limit even being up for discussion shows how powerful the chicken little alarmists have become in Germany. Granted I am biased being the sports car enthusiast that I am but I would really hate seeing this last bastion of driving freedom being neutered by AlGores doom and gloom lemmings. But considering the downward slide towards socialism that the German people have allowed over the years it is no big surprise. ~RJH NYT article link Call for Speed Limit Has German Blood at 178 m.p.h. Political correctness and the Ontario courts... again
This time it's a group called Secular Ontario that has suddenly decided to take on a 210-year old practice of saying the Lord's Prayer in Ontario municipal courts.Using the traditional Christian prayer in council is illegal and sends the wrong message, says Sheila Ayala, a member of Secular Ontario.'I think what they're saying at council meetings when they say the Lord's Prayer is that this council is only for Christians — it's not for anyone else. And that's wrong.'— Sheila Ayala, Secular OntarioThe real question is what do they really want to replace it with? Oh of course, nothing. Notice how it's not a religious group complaining but a secular group. Western society in its desire for political correctness has for some strange reason placed secularism as the default belief system. Instead of celebrating different religions, political correctness advocates supressing them all in favour of non-religion. We saw that with the controversy over the Christmas trees in an Ontari

Can corporations afford a backlash over political correctness?
Maybe they got a memo a while back saying that saying "Happy Holidays", banning Christmas trees, crosses, nativity scenes, and other religious symbols would increase business. This year there's been a lot of backlash against political correctness, and it seems that everyone (not just those from a particular faith/culture). Political correctness strikes... yet again (aren't you tired of hearing about this?)
VANCOUVER- Simon Fraser University is in the final stages of removing images of two crosses from its four-decade-old coat of arms and replacing them with representations of books.Warren Gill, the Burnaby, B.C. institution's vice-president of university relations, confirmed Thursday that the board of governors approved the change at its regular meeting Nov. 30.He denied the crosses were being removed because of anti-Christian bias or political correctness. This makes me wonder why the crosses were allowed in the first place. After all, Simon Fraser is a university that was founded in the '60s and well-known for its liberal activists. It was even referred to as the "Berkeley of the North". But now that they're there, and have been there for over 40 years, it becomes absurd to suggest this:Gill explained the crosses, combined with the fact the university is named in honour of a person (explorer Simon Fraser), has led ''foreign cultures'' to mistakenly conclude the university is ''

A Christmas tree, political correctness, and leftist irrationality
That adored brainchild of the left, political correctness, strikes again. A Toronto (where else?) judge has ordered the removal of a Christmas tree, afraid that it will offend non-Christians.Cohen says she understands the small tree has stood in the lobby at 311 Jarvis St. for years during the Christmas season, but in a letter to employees says non-Christians are "confronted" with the artificial decoration, which makes them feel "they are not part of this institution.''The judge, who oversees administration at the courthouse, said it's inappropriate that a Christian symbol is the first thing visitors see when they enter the building. One thing I have to wonder is if anyone has ever done a poll that asked, "Are you offended by Christmas trees during the holiday season in government or public places?" And if they haven't, then why are some people to worried about offending that small minority out there?I've never taken too kindly to political correctness. Even many on the left don'

Political correctness is the disease that's killing the West
In the CNN show "Exposed: The Extremist Agenda" (see post below, 31 mins into the video), Glenn Beck asks Brigitte Gabriel, an author who grew up in Lebanon and was exposed to anti-Israel propaganda, why it's taken so long for something like this to be given air-time. She replies:"Political correctness is the disease that's killing the West. It is the apathy by which the Muslims are killing us one by one. We have got to throw it in the garbage where it belongs. People have to develop the backbone to stand up and identify to enemy, because the West right now is plagued with Islamofacism, a disease worse than cancer that is going to kill our body unless we find it and kill it first... and the media is the first front to get this to the public and it is their duty to do that."Sobering words indeed.

A victory for those disgusted by political correctness
I don't have a problem with the phrase "Happy Holidays" per se, but when it's used in place of "Merry Christmas" so that people won't be "offended", then it gets to be an issue. So much of an issue that many shoppers last year boycotted Wal-Mart for removing the word Christmas from its holiday message. This year, in what could be a brilliant move, they're bringing the word back, and with much media fanfare. Of course you have the usual politically correct nuts with their oh-so-valuable commentary:Not so, said the Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of the Washington-based Americans United for Separation of Church and State. When Wal-Mart executives "cave into these demands, they are really making a statement that non-Christians should probably go elsewhere this holiday season," he said.Changing store policy to cater to Christmas lovers is a risky calculation, said Keith Tudor, professor of marketing at Kennesaw State University in Georgia."Are they going to offend people or attract
