I have to admit, I really dig vWallpaper. I know it’s a battery killer, but since I don’t sit on my home screen very often — unless docked, anyway — I figure it’ll work out fine. There are a lot of great vWallpapers out there, but I have to admit, there are a lot [...]
You can set your watch to it. The closer we get to some sort of big release, the more the rumours start to fly, until we’re about a week away, at which point it all becomes a swirling vortex of speculation and complete BS. And you know what? I’m not even going to bother reporting [...]

Today Räikkönen demonstrated a virtually flawless driving. His car looked extremely stable and highly competitive. His finishing 19.5 seconds ahead Robert Kubica talks a lot. It's a pity that Felipe Massa was not able to finish the race. Moreover, the Brazilian driver was quite ahead of BMW's Kubica when Massa made a mistake, which cost the Brazilian to retire from the race altogether. If not this unfortunate fact, the race would have been perfect for Ferrari. But, nothing is perfect in this world and I only hope that Ferrari will improve from the race to the race.Getting back to Kubica, the young driver has demonstrated the great skill of driving. It must also be mentioned that BMW has fantastically improved their cars and I will dare to say that the Formula 1 cars of BMW are on a par wi

Sport Psychology at the USATF 2007 National Podium Education Project - Las Vegas.
In the presentation on Sport Psychology, there was a handout given called “The Difference Maker”. It had the quote called Attitude.
I had posted the quote “Attitude” by Charles Swindoll in my meeting with American Decathlete Dan O'Brien back in 1993. (Remember, he didn’t come top 3 in the 1992 USATF trials, but went on to win in the trials and the Gold medal in 1996.)
"Attitude - by Charles Swindoll.
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill.
It will make or break a company … a church … a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we w
Remember that old primary school joke: If you answer both questions correctly, I will give you a million dollars:
Q1) In 1912, name the ship that hit an iceberg and sank with over 1500 casualties?
Q2) Name all the casualties.
This is the same with coaching and the 2 magic questions to your athletes:
Q1) What are your goals?
Q2) How do you get there?
The opening remarks of the USATF National Podium Education Project asked, “What is the difference between a 9.74 and a 10.24 100 meter sprinter? half a second? No, 0.01 seconds, because 50 steps x 0.01 seconds = 0.50 seconds.
Great, so now we know to shave off 0.01 second per stride, but how do we accomplish that? You Know What to Do, but can you “Do What you Know”?
At a simplistic level, we all know sprinting is all about stride rate and stride length. 99% of the coaches and athletes I know try to come out of the blocks as quick as possible to achieve a higher stride rate, with their stride length increasing until th

If you’ve never been to a USATF National Podium Education Project, I highly recommend it.
I also recommend signing up for all the disciplines (Sprints, Throws, Jumps, Distance) and choose the seminars that interest you. It’s good to have a refresher in fundamentals, or a different perspective on certain topics.
Today’s session started off with Dr. Ralph Mann, silver medalist in the 1972 Munich Olympics in the 400 meter hurdles behind John Aki Bua of Uganda. He quoted a successful coach has the desire to learn and the commitment to teach..

half a second?
No, 0.01 seconds. Why? 50 steps x 0.01 seconds = 0.50 seconds. 50 steps is used to simplify the math in this example. The actual number is more like 43 or 44 steps.
For example, Dr. Mann presente

Maiden race success for CarrollTold you so! Adam Carroll got his A1GP career off to a flying start in the Czech Republic at the weekend, nabbing a podium finish in the sprint race and carving his way from 18th on the grid to sixth in the feature. The team now lies seventh in the championship standings with 23 points, having scored in all four races of the season to date.Meanwhile the A1GP series organisers have signed a deal with Ferrari that will see the Italian manufacturer supply an F1-derived chassis and engine to the series for the 2009-10 season and beyond. The deal runs for six years and A1GP chairman Tony Teixeira also announced the formation of a second, lower-rung regional series to be called A2GP. It looks like the last doubts as to the potential longevity of the A1 concept have finally been dispelled.

Japanese GP brought some rain, few crashes, great racing and … 2 Finns on the podium.

I did not pay much attention to 2 Finnish flags over the podium after the race, but few days later I realized, that having more than 1 driver from the same country among top 3 is quite rare… And for Finns, this was the very first time.
Here is what I managed to digg out:
The first country to have 2 drivers on the podium was Italy in 1950. A year later Argentina joined the club followed by France in 1955.

Les jeunes sont démodés on dirait bien. Constat sans doute exagéré mais il faut reconnaître que la vitalité de certains papys technoides laisse perplexe.

Team Repsol Mitsubishi Ralliart rewrote the history books by claiming a seventh successive victory in the punishing 2007 Dakar Rally after the final 16km special stage, near Dakar, in Sénégal on Sunday.
The success was a record-breaking 12th win in the team’s 25-year history of competing in the world’s toughest and most famous off-road rally. The French crew of Stéphane Peterhansel and Jean-Paul Cottret won the event for the third time in four years in their Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero Evolution and beat their team mates and defending champions Luc Alphand and Gilles Picard by a margin of just seven minutes 26 seconds, after 15 days of bruising competition across Portugal, Morocco, Mauritania, Mali and Sénégal.
“I was very nervous on the last big African special stage yesterday and I just drove very slowly on the beach this morning,” said Peterhansel. “It was not necessary to do the show for the crowd and the television on the last stage. When I won my first motorcy
