      That orange plastic bag
That orange plastic bag, the one in which the last segment of my life was stored away, was transacted today. I had to do it, because I’m going away to study in a few weeks, and I really can’t leave it behind. Besides, cursory glances at a few pages is all that I will ever be able to do with those diaries. I won’t like handling them any more than that. So what’s the use anyway? So I gave t

Teen Decomposes Plastic Bag… in Just Three Months.
My jaw hit the floor and I thought, “If a 16-year-old can work it out, how come no one else did?” Maybe Marks and Spencer will stop charging their customers for plastic bags, now, and focus on the more serious issue of packaging.

NPR Story: Plastic Bag Bans Gaining Popularity
From NPR: "In San Francisco, the age-old question "Paper or plastic?" was answered one year ago this week. The city banned hard-to-recycle plastic bags in grocery stores, and so far, that translates into 5 million fewer plastic bags every month. Now, other cities are considering similar bans, and companies are developing alternatives to disposable bags." Listen to the full story by clicking HERE

Waste basket that hides the unsightly plastic bag.
As smart as it is simple. Just the way we like it. The waste basket has two parts; the inner one for putting the plastic bag (and the trash) in, and the outer cover to hide the plastic bag and make it appear more elegant. From Ideaco. Design by Ichiro Haba and Kazuya Koike.

People Mistake Plastic Bag For Ghost
At a gas station in Ohio, a mysterious blue object is scene floating around in front of a gas station surveillance camera. People gather around and watch the video and offer up their ideas of what the spooky image could be. Is it a bag? Is it a ghost? An angel? Jesus? The video is below so you can judge for yourself, but I think it’s fairly safe to assume that it’s one of those little round plastic parts from the handle of a blue pastic bag that come off easily. It got stuck to the lens for 30 minutes, blew away, and is obviously stuck back on the bottom of the lens when the reporter says it’s sitting on a car windshield. I am not a plastic bag
Nobody knows why the "I am not plastic bag" is so popular. It has simple design, simple color and it holds a lot of stuffs. Most importantly, it is not a plastic bag. You sure have seen celebrities carrying them on magazine and now you want one too. I might not know what to go with it, I might buy it just because everyone else has one, I might hate it right after I buy it. Who knows. But when fashion icons have one, your friends have one, you have to have one. It's just the way we live. NOT.

I’m Not a Plastic Bag spotted!
I spotted this today while walking through Petaling Street, our version of Chinatown. There were rows and rows of stalls selling the infamous “I’m Not A Plastic Bag” bag by Anya Hindmarch, which incidentally is sold out worldwide. If Anya Hindmarch had done their market research and honestly and truly wanted to save the environment, they should have just made more for the masses. Then again, I suppose its a marketing ploy to create demand for the bag. I’ve never seen the real thing up close so I have no idea what to expect of the bag. I honestly thought that it was pretty decent for a casual canvas bag that you can tote around town for the hell of it. Ok, so maybe not with the now infamous words printed on it. Out of curiousity, I stopped by a stall to ask how much they were selling the bag for. The answer? RM95 was the first quote I got. WTF?! The original bag was selling for only RM55! His reason: Its sold out in the stores. Sucks to him! The rest of the quot

"I'm Not A Smug Twat" Bag, inspired by "I'm Not A Plastic Bag"
In reaction to and Inspired by Anya Hindmarch's "I'm Not a Plastic Bag", here's a new eco-friendly bag that looks and is designed in exactly the same style as the "Plastic Bag", yes, rope handles, trimmings and letterings included. The only difference perhaps is that unlike Anya's "Plastic Bag", the lettering on this bag is painted on instead of stitched on. This "I'm Not a Smug Twat" bag is also a Limited Edition which you can Pre-Order. "I'm Not A Smug Twat" BagHere's the original "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" for comparison...Hm, however Bagaholic Babe prefers the original "Plastic Bag" and not this. I mean, hey, don't you think if you want to capitalise on whatever following that Anya Hindmarch has started, be more inventive and create your own! The fact that it replicates the original "Plastic Bag" is utterly uninventive. I mean, this "Smug Twat" bag even uses the same brush script and puts the words "NOT A" in caps in the same position as the original Plastic Bag. Bottomline i

Fake Anya Hindmarch "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" Spotted!!
Well, I was at the Curve's flea market yesterday, and I stumbled upon fake "I'm Not a Plastic Bag"s. Well, firstly, it's blatantly obvious that those are fakes. They come in a multitude of ugly colours, and the rope handles are too thin, the shape is off, and unlike the original, the words "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" are painted on and not sewn on. Well, perhaps the most passable fake I saw - with the same shape and size as the original (except for the painted on font and handles that replicate the original but are a tad too skinny) were at a stall in front of Cineleisure. Oh and apart from the Curve, these fake 'Plastic Bags' can be found aplenty at Sungei Wang. Oh and the most important thing of all, the fakes are even more expensive than the original one! The fakes retail for as much as RM70+ while the original was only RM55. Very silly indeed to pay for a fake (that doesn't even remotely resemble the original) that costs more than the original. IKEA Spits Plastic Bag Utilization
For buyers and shoppers, carrying a plastic bag only means that they have made a purchase from their favorite store as IKEA. It is a sign that a sale has been made. Plastic bags represent a gate pass for people to leave shopping stores once they have settled their account at the counter. However, plastic has been known to be one of the more controversial objects that add to the green woes the world knows of today. While there are alternative ecological packaging that can be used, it is pretty clear that splitting the use of plastic in half is a sign of trying to go green for all bed and furniture item purchases that is regular these days. “I’m not a plastic bag”
Did you know that each year the U.S. goes through 100 billion plastic shopping bags? Billions end up as litter and takes hundreds of years to break down in landfill. Leading accessories designer Anya Hindmarch wanted to do something to make a difference and to encourage people to change their everyday actions. The result is the fashionable Im Not A Plastic Bag, which goes on sale for just $15 at select Whole Foods Market stores on July 18th. For the products debut at Whole Foods Market, Anya Hindmarch will be at the Bowery store on July 18th. This limited edition reusable bag is a collaboration between Anya Hindmarch and global social change movement We Are What We Do. These bags sold out in just hours when they launched in London earlier this year and is expected to bring a similar buzz to the Northeast regional stores of the natural and organic supermarket. Video: "I'm Not A Plastic Bag" Fever
In honor of yesterday's debut (and rapid sell-out) of Anya Hindmarch's "I'm Not A Plastic Bag" tote in select NYC Whole Foods Markets, I thought you might enjoy this little video documenting the craze. I just had my first in-the-flesh spotting of this uber hot bag this weekend. I was at my local Target store when an overdressed girl in too-tight True Religion jeans and mile-high heels teetered by me in the parking lot sporting the now infamous Anya Hindmarch tote. Apparently she was using this eco-conscious bag as a purse... while she blissfully pushed a cart full of-- AHEM-- plastic bags to her car. For shame. I expect more from fashionistas in the eco-aware SF Bay Area. The sight of it made me gag a little. Personally, I'll be picking up the tongue-in-cheek "I'm Not A Smug Twat" bag (thanks Kristopher!) and actually using it for grocery store runs and Target outings.By the way, as of this posting, you can still find a few of the "$10" Anya Hindmarch bags for sale on eBay for aro

Riot Over “I Am Not a Plastic Bag” Eco-Bag
Anya Hindmarch’s “I’m Not A Plastic Bag” tote is a very popular product these days. So much so that a riot nearly broke out over the tote in Hong Kong last night, which was very reminiscent of those Tickle Me Elmo Christmases. “By late morning Hong Kong police were asking people to disperse, but many refused to leave, shouting, ‘open the store.’ Department store Harvey Nicholls distributed flyers telling shoppers their supplies of the bag had already sold out to people who had pre-ordered it. Anya Hindmarch’s Hong Kong store also failed to open today morning, causing fury among the crowds of shoppers gathered outside.” Check out the video here: While you are at it, check out the comments and criticisms Ecorazzi has about the designer. Apparently, while the bag is fairly green, it isn’t organic. AND what’s even sadder is that the rioters are probably rioting over the fact these bags are so very popular and not what they stand for. I'm not a plastic bag
It really was about time...Germany is one of the "greenest" countries when it comes to environmental protection. Eco here and eco there, Diesel cars and garbage seperation... You have to buy a plastic bag in grocerie stores you'll never get one for free and that's why many people don't forget to bring their shopping bags made of linen or whatever...As already mentioned I'm a real sucker for cool cheap bags. And this bag definitely is cool and cheap. For only £ 5.00 it's a real bargain and that's why it's already sold out, although it hasn't been for sale yet!? Unfortunately I'm one of those who were too late and so I have to hope for a restock. Lily Cole already has her bag, but that's no wonder! Ever drink out of a plastic bag?
Drinking out of a plastic bag was a new one on me. The first time El Jefe stopped at a pulpería to get me a soft drink and returned with a coke in a plastic bag, I asked him, confundida (confused), "What am I supposed to do with this?"It turns out that it's very common to serve soft drinks or juice in flimsy plastic bags. Purified water is prepackaged in half liter and liter bags as well as plastic bottles. A corner is ripped off (usually with your teeth) and the water is sort of poured or sucked out of the hole in the bag.I had a really hard time getting the hang of this and had to get El Jefe to demonstrate more than once. Another problem is that you have to finish the drink immediately, you can't set it down because the bag will flop over and spill the contents.Juices and soft drinks are usually served with the bag tied around a small straw. Those are a little easier to handle but I worry about whether these bags are food-safe. Not all plastic is food-safe and many bags have a st
