Ayer se lanzo la versión 3.0 del software para administrar foros de phpBB.
Para los que alguna vez administramos un foro, es una excelente noticia, ya que en su momento, phpBB fue unos de los mejores soft CMS (Sistema de Gestión de Contenidos).
Lamentablemente estuvo demasiado tiempo sin actualizar a una versión final como esta. Para que tengan una idea, los trabajos sobre la versión 2.0 comenzaron por Febrero del 2001, para terminar la versión definitiva en Abril del 2002.

Sto realizzando un portale WordPress per un sito basato su forum phpBB che presto verrà aggiornato alla versione 3.
Nel portale devono essere visualizzati gli ultimi post sul forum per topic, l’utente, data ed ora ed il forum di appartenza, a tal fine ho creato un semplice script php commentato scaricabile da qua.

Hmm.. also soweit ich das durchblicke.. sofern RC 6 das letzte RC Ding sein sollte, kommt danach Gold.. und danach erst «phpbb 3»?
Ich bin sehr verlockt, die 2 Foren upzudaten.. aber irgendwie schrecken mich diese «häufigen» Updates ab (wenn da was schiefgeht stehen, für mich doch recht viele Beiträge etc auf dem Spiel) und die Funktionalität durch Mods kann ja von RC zu RC wieder unterschiedlich problematisch ausfallen?!
Falls keiner ein Nonplusultra-Argument vorzubringen hat.. freue ich mich lieber, dass es bei phpbb 2.0.22 bleibt.. man also quasi sicher ist.

Hace tiempo que administro un foro con bastantes visitas y que recibe toneladas de spam, el único MOD para phpBB que me a ayudado con esto es el Spam Words con el hack para Akismet que hizo EADZ.
Como era un poco retorcido eso de modificar la modificación y hasta que salga phpBB 3 (y por tanto deje de funcionar) o un MOD exclusivo del Akismet (lleva en desarrollo mucho tiempo) decidí integrar en un MOD todo y de paso integrarlo en el control de registros y en el panel de control, a la par que añadía algunos fixes que había en el foro oficial.

Que hace el MOD:
Chequea cada nuevo mensaje que se envía contra Akismet (si se ha configurado una clave de API) y contra una lista de palabras tipicas, si se detecta spam o no se permite el envio o se permite pero se oculta el mensaje para que el admin lo borre o lo edite.
Chequa cada nuevo registro (firma, web…) de la misma manera que lo anterior solo que esta vez nunca se permite el

This tutorial will teach you how to create a new template directory for phpBB2.
Copy your templates/subSilver/ directory to templates/YourTemplate/ including all subdirectories.
In all .tpl files inside templates/YourTemplate/ replace all instances of “subSilver” with “YourTemplate”. You can do that in any text editor with search/replace feature. Make sure that “YourTemplate” is exactly the same as your directory name. It is case-sensitive, so “YourTemplate” and “yourtemplate” are different names.
Rename subSilver.cfg and subSilver.css to YourTemplate.cfg and YourTemplate.css
Open theme_info.cfg and replace all “subSilver” with “YourTemplate” (including all $subSilver[0]… with $YourTemplate[0])
Save all modified files. You’ve got yourself a new template. Now you can install it in admin control panel (this document will help you) and edit colors in admin control panel and edit tpl files.

Optimizing a board software for search engines is not an easy task, especially with the more complicated ones such as Invision Power Board and vBulletin. Fortunately, phpBB is easier to use and with some modifications it can become a safe, powerful and easy to use board.
Today I’ll be sharing with you a great SEO trick for phpBB using robots.txt. The biggest problem with search engine spiders in forums is that they can get easily distracted from the main content and go viewing a user profile, the users list etc. So forbidding such pages is the main idea in this kind of SEO for boards.
Basically, you have to create a new robots.txt (if you have not created one already) and put it in your root directory. Then you forbid posting.php, memberlist.php, profile.php, group.php, login.php and privmsg.php. If you are not familiar with robots.txt, I advice you to check out Thomas Brunt’s Creating and Using a robots.txt file Guide.

This is the very first design i ever made for a portal or forum template.
I first designed this style for my clan site in 2004, after a while we then decided to install a forum for the clan to interact better etc so i installed a piece of forum software called phpBB. After a long look at the free templates available and not being able to find a good Gaming template i decided to port our clan theme into a phpBB template.
After a few weeks i was emailed numerous times by web masters interested in using this skin for there own phpBB powered forum so i decided to release the skin for free over at www.phpBB.com and on my own site www.bluepearl-design.com. Since then the template has been downloaded and used on hundreds maybe even a few thousand forums.
I have since released 2 major updates to the skin and also ported it to vBulletin.
Style is now valid XHTML 1.0 transitional!

Spam is a big problem these days. Spammers use advanced bots that can post thousand of spam messages on your forum, your blog, or any other type of site that allows the user to post messages or comments. The bots are becoming more and more advanced.
A few years ago it was easy to stop this type of spam using methods like CAPTCHA but now the bots have sophisticated ocr algorithms that can easily detect the obfuscated characters in an image so that’s not a protection anymore.
