Nobody should celebrate the wicked pagan holiday of "Halloween".We hope most of you have researched the wicked origins of this holiday by now. Some of you think it is harmless, but the reality is that this is the most important day of the year for most Satanists and most people who are into the occult. We personally know a minister who delivered a woman out of the occult who was involved in the most
Self-Initiation is a touchy subject. There are many traditions within Wicca who believe that “only a Witch can make a Witch”. I have personally walked both sides of this debate (in that I have been a self-initiatiate as well as gone through a more traditional degree system in a coven setting) and am not really looking to [...]
If you go around the internet today, you will find a surprising number of people spouting the complete nonsense that the idea of "Jesus" originated from earlier pagan religions.Of course this is complete and utter nonsense, and will do many more posts on this topic, but for now let us look at the root of the problem. This whole "pagan copycat myth" nonsense is based on rumors that developed from th
Have you ever wondered where the word "Easter" comes from? The Britannica Encyclopedia (1934) states:“EASTER (es’ter). Ostara, or Eastre, was the goddess of Spring in the religion of the ancient Angles and Saxons. Every April a festival was celebrated in her honor. With the beginnings of Christianity, the old gods were put aside. From then on the festival was celebrated in honor of the resurrec
A question from William HI have a question and I hope that someone can answer it for me. I have heard that the story of Jesus was basically stolen from earlier pagan religions and films such as The God Who Wasn't There and Zeitgeist have both made these claims. This knowledge did much to help me in my de-conversion process, but now I am hearing people claim that Christianity didn't plagiarize olde

What if it could be proved that Jesus never existed? What if there was evidence that every word of the New Testament is based on myth and metaphor? And what if those revelations extended beyond Christianity, putting into question even the fundamental beliefs of Judaism and Islam? These are the ideas presented in The Pagan Christ, a documentary based on theologian Tom Harpur's explosive, best-sellin

When his partner died in 2004, Kevin-Douglas Olive reached a crossroads in his faith. Even though he had been a Quaker for almost two decades and put his trust in Jesus, he began to explore other ways of tapping into the divine. "I had this experience of (my partner) after death, and he spoke to me and woke me up out of my sleep," Olive says. "It freaked me out, because I really didn't believe in that stuff; … my faith in God had disappeared when my partner died." He started to explore Wicca, a nature-based pagan religion, surrounding himself with pentacles, candles and incense. But that didn't stick. "It seemed like more make-believe on top of the Christian make-believe," he says. "I was rejecting one; I didn't want to bring in another." Even after Olive found his way back to

The relationship and dependence of the early chapters of Genesis on ancient Near Eastern myth raise the question of whether these chapters can themselves be designated as myths. The problem is compounded by the controversial issue of the definition of myth.--John S. Kselman, HarperCollins Bible Commentary, p. 84But if that which tends to make us happier and better can be called useful, then we claim that epithet for [mythology]. For Mythology is the handmaid of literature; and literature is one of the best allies of virtue and promoters of of happiness.--Thomas Bulfinch, Bulfinch's Mythology, prefaceA concerned reader writes,I note that one of your interests seems to be the use of myth and mythology in fiction and popular culture. Here's a question I'd like to see you address and invite yo
A “pagan” is the term Christians use for atheists or anyone who doesn’t accept the God of the Bible. The word “pagan” comes from the Latin word for “country dweller”.
Originally, pagans were the Greek and Roman polytheists who followed the cults of Mithras, Venus, Apollo, Demeter, and others. Today, however, Christians generally reserve the “pagan” [...]

It’s a game of inches. Speed kills. These sports clichés came to life Thursday night at Shea Stadium as Angel Pagan drove in Jose Reyes in the bottom of the 12th to give the New York Mets a 4-3 victory over their division rival, the Philadelphia Phillies.Pagan hit a single up the middle off of Philadelphia reliever Tom Gordon. With the outfield playing shallow against the speedy Reyes, who had doubled the previous at bat, center fielder Jayson Werth threw a strike to catcher Chris Coste. Coste blocked the plate and Reyes tripped over his foot, tagging home plate with his left hand just before Coste could apply the tag to Reyes’s back.Predictably, Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel argued the call with home plate umpire Ted Barrett, but his efforts were to no avail.Pagan’s game-winne

Easter is a day that is honored by nearly all of contemporary Christianity and is used to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The holiday often involves a church service at sunrise, a feast which includes an “Easter Ham”, decorated eggs and stories about rabbits.
Those who love truth learn to ask questions, and many questions must be asked regarding the holiday of Easter.
Is it truly the day when Jesus arose from the dead? Where did all of the strange customs come from, which have nothing to do with the resurrection of our Saviour? The purpose of this is to help answer those questions, and to help those who seek truth to draw their own conclusions.
The first thing we must understand is that professing Christians were not the only ones who celebrated a festival called

Since I am writing The Book, I would have you know that it is just not words that I enjoy writing down, yet also where the rubber meets the road. Here is one that I have read. Tell me what you think! I read the first edition of ‘Pagan Christianity?’ several years ago on a recommendation of a long time colleague, friend and biz partner finding the information interesting and answering some long time Qs for myself. Frank wrote then with what appeared to be a hatchet, tho I found it hard to disagree with him on many issues. Reading this the 2008 edition now with a co-author, George Barna, it is less antagonistic, yet with no holds barred showing no Scriptural basis for they way we all hold Church today. It still maintains the Frank Viola flavor, though having never read Mr. Ba

Could you compare the two types of sermons–the kind Peter gave on the day of Pentecost and the kind we hear in traditional churches today?
I’ll take a stab at it. The modern sermon has the following characteristics:
1. It is a regular occurrence delivered faithfully from the pulpit at least once a week.
2. It is delivered by the same person typically the pastor.
3. It is delivered to a passive audience; it is essentially a monologue.
4. It is a cultivated form of speech, possessing a specific structure. It typically contains an introduction, three to five points, and a conclusion. This structure was borrowed from the pagan rhetorical form of speech known as the Greek “homily.” Clement of Alexandria, Chrysostom, and Augustine baptized it and called it “Christian.” And we’ve ne

And spirit of the river, spirit of the sea.

This article come from the NY Post:The Mets hardly recognized Angel Pagan when he arrived at spring training this yearPagan was leaner, stronger, locked in at the plate and noticeably more mature. In other words, who was this guy? It certainly wasn't the gangly and undisciplined fourth-round pick who disappointed by bouncing around their system for six years without getting a sniff of the big leagues. At least so far, that Angel Pagan is no more. Every spring training has its out-of-nowhere hitting sensation, and Pagan is filling that role so well this year - he is hitting .400 through yesterday - that he might end up as the Mets' Opening Day left fielder. "I had a chance to really grow up the last couple of years, and now the Mets are seeing the results of that," Pagan said. "It just fee

Unknown OF Making WavesHe could not have come along at a better time, this Angel Pagan fellow. With the Mets wondering how to fill the void left by the injury to Moises Alou, a solution has emerged right under their noses.Pagan, acquired in a trade in January from the Cubs, has burst onto the scene this spring hellbent on making the club.Is he one of Omar's new 'finds'? Only time will tell. Pagan, after two uneventful seasons at Wrigley, is batting .415 for the Amazin's this young spring and has caught the eye of manager Willie Randolph.Final cuts are still weeks away, but if Pagan keeps up hitting and hustling, the Mets may not have to make a trade for an outfielder.
A faintish journey do I make
As through this frazzled world I wind,
With heavy heart and weary steps,
But with determined mind.
Beseech I for a flicker of
The faith than can a mountain move,
And hold that tenet close to me,
Believing where I cannot prove.
The pow’r that comes when sinking low
To man who grasps for straw or rope,

Between my approaching finals, the pressures of the upcoming Holiday, and working for the past 22 days straight I am brain dead. I do not have much in the way of coherant thought to post on the blog. So I thought I would share some of my personal favorite musical choices:
Hey There Delilah (Live) - by Plain White T’s
Don’t you worry about the distance, I’m right there if you get lonely, Give this song another listen,
Close your eyes, Listen to my voice, it’s my disguise, I’m by your side
I love how this song speaks to love spanning any distance and how people can feel connected even when seperated by thousands of miles. The magic of both music and love.

filling every tissue, sinew, with Joy,
I feed the nectar of life, into each molecule and cell,
The mind and body embrace Divine love
Through the eye of time I see eternity,
Life in life shine bright,
Shine the torch of majestic light,
Find the path to my universal frame,
So I may bask in the wisdom of pure potential,
Guide my hand to write your words.
the writers prayer - michael levy
As usual, the prayers I post here come from the World Prayers Prayer Wheel. I love using it because it has in it’s database a collection of poems from a wide range of traditions. I often find a prayer I like though I will admit that some need some tweaking for a Pagan such as myself to to feel comfortable using them.
This prayer is wonderful as is. I chose it to post because it made me think of the upcoming Winter Solstice to that new dawn at the end of the longest night.

Bless, O Mistress of Magic,
Myself and everything anear me,
Bless me in all my makings,
And keep me safe forever.
Keep me safe forever.
From every unclean spirit and sending,
From every evil wish and cursing,
From every wicked spell and glamour,
From every star that frowns upon me,
Save me till the end of my day.
That they may keep me safe forever.
Save me till the end of my day.
Let every nymph and faerie be my sister,
Let every troll and brownie be my brother,
Let every fairy-mouse and will-o-the-wisp befriend me,
That they may keep me safe forever.
That they may keep me safe forever.

I grabbed this prayer from worldprayers.org.
I am in a dark place again. I have spoken of it before and as usual it stems from too many worries, too little time and not enough money. What can I say ….. life is hard ….. as each of you who reads this already knows. We each have our own losses that we grieve, our own dark moments
As a side note ….
The cooks seem to have mixed up 2 ingredients must be all that drinking. LOL
The ground cloves should be ground allspice and the orange should be studded with whole cloves not whole allspice as whole allspice are round and not at all small and pointy.
Additionally ….
This recipe makes something more akin to a hard mulled cider than a true wassail. For more information on wassail as a traditional beverage …. read on:

“Daughter of the elements
Daughter of the rain
Daughter of the thunder
Daughter of the flame
Daughter of the dawn
And daughter of the light
Daughter of the stars
And daughter of the night
Daughter of the earth
And daughter of the trees
Daughter of the storms
And daughter of the breeze
Daughter of the moon
And daughter of the seas
Daughter of the winds
And daughter of the leaves”

Just because it is beautiful and because it touched me …..
May I be a protector to those without protection,
A leader for those who journey,
And a boat, a bridge, a passage
For those desiring the further shore.
May the pain of every living creature
Be completely cleared away.
May I be the doctor and the medicine
And may I be the nurse
For all sick beings in the world
Until everyone is healed.
Just like space
And the great elements such as earth,
May I always support the life
Of all the boundless creatures.
And until they pass away from pain
May I also be the source of life
For all the realms of varied beings
That reach unto the ends of space.

I am one with my father and the universe.
I am one with mother earth.
I am one with everyone within the reach of my voice.
And, in this togetherness, we ask the divine intelligence to eradicate all
negatives from our hearts, from our minds,
from our words, and from our actions.
And, so be it.

Well …… the plan this weekend was to:
Go to the school book fair on Friday night with the girls, take time off Saturday from cooking and homework to go pick pumpkins. On Sunday the plan was to carve said pumpkins upon my return home from work.
However, on Friday my knee started acting up again and it was raining. This is the third flare up I’ve had since July and at this point we are thinking arthritis since the offending knee makes crunchy sounds during the attack and because it isn’t always the same knee. While I am grateful that my prescribed anti-inflammatories do seem to help, they also tend to trigger a flare up in my abdominal pain. This may seen like a poor trade off but my tolerance for the later is much higher as it is something I am more used to. Anyway, between the rain and the pain I was a bad mommy and skipped the book fair and asked GamerDude to take the girls to buy pumpkins on Sunday while I am at work. The plan is still to carve
