      Packing
I never thought I could be so happy to be packing in my life! After all the moves I’ve done in 19 years, I should be my normal grumpy self. But no! Not this time. I’m thrilled to be putting everything away and putting it in storage for a few months. Fly home to be [...]

Packing the hospital bag for delivery
Today marks the beginning of my 37th week of pregnancy; I'm getting more eager and anxious for the baby's arrival. I began packing my bag to take to the hospital a few weeks ago, but I still keep taking items in and out of it. I just can't decide what to bring!Found this great article from a Pampers ParentPages e-mail called "Packing for Your Birth Experience" and thought other expecting moms would appreciate it. Includes a great list of items to pack not only for mom, but for hubby or birth coach, and baby. Here's some things to pack you might not have thought to bring:Chapstick and/or lollipops - with all the breathing, apparently dry mouth/lips are an annoyance that can be avoided for the laboring mama with these items.Snacks for your hubby or partnerBack massagerSome kind of focal poin

      Packing Lessons for Everyone
Just because your space is small doesn't mean packing for a move is simply throwing your stuff in the back of your car. C'mon! you worked hard for that tape deck. Treat it right! Here are a few tips:~ Invest in a few packing supplies- Things like packing boxes, actual packing tape, bubble wrap, tissue and garment bags really are a good idea even when it's a simple cross-town move.~ Start early- Go for obvious- pack the stuff you rarely use first, saving things like your toothbrush for last. And while you're at it, keep a packing list that details what items are in what boxes.~ Consider a mover- Apartment moves are often connected with family and friends pitching in. Thoughts on Packing
Moving is an interesting experience. To me, who spent so many years living in the same place, it is a cathartic undertaking. Going through belongings, throwing out what you realize you no longer use nor need. Finding objects that you've been looking for all this time but accidentally got tucked into the wrong box long ago. Memories that no one else could ever understand that can make you just stop and stare at an origami box given to you over a decade ago or an ornamental plate given by your sibling that really reminds you of a joke form a long time ago concerning someone else. Most of the time, you never pay attention to these things when they hang on a wall or sit on a shelf, unless they require cleaning or someone else happens to see and comment. They become part of the background, just

We completely packed our storage room, the shed and the kitchen yesterday. (the boys watched WAY to much tv this weekend) I’m getting really excited now and can’t wait to move. I keep dreaming of the new house. The boys and I are still miserable. I thought I was better but I woke up this morning feeling awful..and I don’t think it has anything to do with being up with the boys every hour of the night. *sigh* If these boys DO NOT take a nap today I might need to give them a serious talking to about their sleeping habits. I need to drag the boys back to my doctor so he can look at my ears again. I have to have an ear infection or something…my ears are killing me. Pass the kleenex…we’ll be using the whole box today.

Perhaps next time you live somewhere you should avoid renting, which as uses of money go makes about as much sense as trying to repel a mugger by choking him with ten pound notes and flicking pound coins at his testicles like dull edged ninja stars. It's time to buy.On the other hand the idea of buying a house in Japan is terrifying because it implies stability, routine, a secure job. These things are not forthcoming to most foreigners in Japan. On the other other hand you reason that you weren't fond of commitments in England either, and if you're gonna choose a country to live in you'll have to back to Eastern pony and sweat the details later. So J has been home the past couple days due to Thanksgiving down here. He is going in today to work, however. No rest for the chemist. We have been working our tail feathers off trying to get all our stuff ready for the big move. My goal is to have everything ready by Tuesday so I am not stressing out right before the movers show up. J is working all next week, so it is me and the kids directing traffic. So super pissy news. We have had issues with the company that will be transporting our car not contacting us and letting us know what the gig is. Yeah that is because they plan on having our car for THREE weeks. Nice. Yup our little American car is going to see Vancouver then all the Canadian countryside by train. I have the worst luck with moving companies. how i hate packing
I was just reminded that we need to pack up our home office and living area before we leave for our vacation. When the word 'packing' was mentioned, I kept silent and sulked silently. This is one activity I quite enjoy. It's tiring and time consuming. Worse still, it can take days!Imagine the day will come when we must pack up and move to another country, there'll be alot more to do! First, I would have to check out movers and compare quotes since it's only logical to look for a Cheap Moving Company, isn't it? It's good to know that websites like Service Network help done the selection work for those who are looking for movers. So all you need to do is to assess each moving company, check out their rates and decide who you would like to use for your move. That helps to save time and anxieties from ending up with the wrong moving company!

If you are planning on changing addresses and have no idea how to start packing, here are a few tips to help you pack effectively. Before you start packing, the first thing you need to do is make a list of all the things you need to pack, don’t assume that you can remember everything you need to pack. You should put everything and anything that needs to be packed on the list (cutlery, toiletry, and electronics included). Once you are confident you have completed your list the next step is buying boxes. An elementary mistake people make when they are moving is assume that they have enough boxes, this is why it is important to have a list of all things that need to be packed. Without a proper list there is no way of estimating how many boxes you need. So make sure the list is in order and then go out and buy more boxes if you need to. Packing for a mini-holiday
You need to be pretty organised in packing for a last-minute mini-holiday. The best plan is to reset the contents of your case shortly after you get home from the previous holiday. That usually amounts to just taking out all the clothing but leaving in all the essentials such as your passport, a few credit cards, driving license, electrical adaptors, and so on. Unfortunately, it’s not quite so easily done as that if you vary your “holidays” by going on business trips as well as those will generally require a slightly different range of essentials. Likewise, if you constantly go to different countries then things like guidebooks and phrasebooks will, of course, need to be changed. Still, the principles remain: keep the passport, driving license and at least one credit card in your case and you will probably be able to buy the rest. On the guidebook front, you can keep a very general guidebook in it too eg the Lonely Planet Western Europe guide will cover a vast range o

In your rush to get out of the house or office, you may forget to pack everything you need in your laptop bag. As a quick checklist, be sure to bring along the following:1. Power cord/adapter Having your power cord and adapter is a must. You never know if an appointment will go longer than expected, you may have extra time to sit and work on your laptop, or the opportunity to charge the battery may just present itself. If you find yourself to be very forgetful, buy a second power cord and adapter and leave it in your bag – that way you cannot forget it.2. MouseEven though your laptop comes with a pointing device built in (either a touchpad, track point, or other device); sometimes you may require the precision of a regular mouse. Also, if you are working for an extended period of time, a mouse can reduce the amount of strain put on your hand. Usually, a USB mouse is probably the easiest to pack as most laptops have a free USB port that you can use. Should you decide to bring a wirele

      Almost Done Packing
Okay… Saturday I took a break and was a bum all day. Yesterday (Sunday) I went to the laundry and washed a dog bed and a huge comforter that is too big for our machines, so I can take the comforter to camp with me. I have my packing list, and I’m getting it all ready. My car is 80% packed. I only have left the things I can’t do until the last minute, and don’t want to leave in my hot car. Like my camcorder and camera, and the dog’s food. Since I feed raw I bought some patties that are frozen and I want them to stay that way as long as possible. The car shouldn’t need any body shop supplies as it’s in good shape, I got it cleaned and an oil change. I have x-pens, crates, my trolley, and clothes all packed! I haven’t had much time for blogging this weekend, as you can see. Anyway, I’m excited. The house is almost ready, also, for the maid service to come on Wednesday. Oh crap! I just remembered my husband and I were going t

      Taking it Easy and Packing!
Crap, one week from today I leave for dog camp. I still have to go buy frozen raw mixes for the boys, get their fecals done, and a zillion other things…. ugh. I have a list, that keeps me sane, so I won’t forget anything. I packed a number of things into the car today and will be doing more this weekend, gotta wash some clothes first. I was looking through some brochures today and when I get back from camp I want to get either a wardrobe or a nice huge closet for the spare bedroom. Powell furniture has some good options. I’m going to look around locally, too. We have a small closet in each bedroom and hardly any space for putting folded clothes. I’ve seen some great options for huge wardrobes and I would love one of those. I’d also like a CD/DVD cabinet for downstairs to keep all my mini disks in, and all my big disks too. I am getting a ton, since I have my new camcorder.

Browns Starting QB Loser to Be Sent Packing
It’s a rumor that started locally, and now seems to be spreading like wildfire. That rumor is that the loser in the Cleveland Browns QB battle between Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson will be either released or traded. That rumor even showed up right here on NFLGridironGab.com as Browns play-by-play man Jim Donovan said as such in his interview with us on “Gridiron Gabbin” on Wednesday. Donovan said that the organization wants to keep Ken Dorsey around, but cannot possibly keep four quarterbacks, meaning that the loser of Frye and Anderson will be sent packing. To start, Anderson was given the role of starting during what was a very strong series of mini camps. He seemed to have a grip on the position, but then as training camp started, he seemed to fall behind Frye, and now it looks as with three preseason games left, Frye has the spot, for now, locked up. If that lasts or not, is anyones guess. The wildcard in the whole thing is Brady Quinn, rookie QB that eve

      Australia: The Packing Begins
With only 3 more weeks left before I head to the Southern Hemisphere, I've been getting myself ready. I've got my things to do list in hand and have been slowly checking it off- visiting sites, eating at my favorite restaurants (or place I've wanted to try), buying stuff, and going out and partying. This week I also may just head down to the islands to go learn to scuba dive. The closer it gets, the more excited I'm getting. I am going to do a grand tour of the continent country. I fly into Perth on Nov. 8th and head up the west coast to Darwin, then down the center to Melbourne and up the coast through Sydney for New Years and finishing in Cairns before I head to New Zealand. I figure, it will be years before I even have the chance to come back and who knows what can happen in that time- A

Being Prepared For A Hospital Visit - Essential Packing List
Every Wednesday is Productivity Day at AlexShalman.com Last Wednesday I had the ‘opportunity’ to spend the day at the hospital. It wasn’t that bad (I wasn’t the one sick), I grabbed a book on the way over, and provided moral support, so the time was used pretty productively. Everything turned out for the best, but I realized that the whole experience could have been much more pleasant if we had been prepared. It’s not always possible to predict an emergency, and during a stressful situation things could be forgotten while you’re rushing out the door. The best solution would have been to have a ready to go pack with all the necessities. For the patient Clean underwear, warm socks, and slippers. Packing It In - Welcome the Rebuilding Process; O's Lose 13-8...
Folks, it looks like 2007 is over and we all should look forward to next year. In light of the Orioles' solid play, we all knew they were not getting to the playoffs, much less the wild card, but there was a glimmer, I mean a glimmer of hope that Orioles might make something of this season.Let's kiss it goodbye.Yesterday, John Parrish was traded to the Mariners, and Chris Gomez was taken off waivers and thus will go to the Cleveland Indians. Not that Gomez and Parrish were world-beaters and perhaps not part of future; however, Gomez had a role on the team. The good news is the two guys are playing for reason now and can take solace that they are on winning teams right now. These moves mark a new future for the Orioles, and expect to see a lot of evaluation for next year. With the move, Tike Redman has been called up to the majors along with Jim Hoey. *** Well, the Orioles got beat and badly by the Mariners, 13-8. In the end, the Orioles' fielding, an inconsistent Daniel Cabrera (aga

Bucs Stunner as Pro Bowl DE Rice is Sent Packing
Maybe Gaines Adams will see the field a lot faster.  The reason behind that is due to the Bucs surprise move earlier today as they released fromer Pro Bowl DE Simeon Rice.  Reports state that the team and Rice had a meeting today, and asked the 12th year player to take a pay cut.  He refused to do so, and upon that the team released him.  Rice had showed up and checked in to Bucs training camp before the meeting and then his release. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer says that there is a door open for Rice to come back to the team, but at this point that does not look like it will happen.  The 6-foot-5, 268 pound DE has been with Tampa Bay since the 2001 season.  He came to them from the Arizona Cardinals, where in five seasons he recorded 51.5 sacks.  He had his best season in Tampa Bay in 2002, when he had 50 total tackles and 15.5 sacks.  He also had an interception that year.  In 166 career games he has 121 career sacks.  The No. 3 overall pick in the 1996 draft, Rice was a tw

I found this site when I search for some bubble bags. I usually use this material when packing fragile items. It really provides cushioning for precious and breakable items. They are generally available in different sizes, depending on the size of the object being packed, as well as the level of cushioning protection that is needed. I love to used it especially when I ship sensitive electronic parts and components because the bubble bag also employs an anti-static plastic that dissipates static charges, thereby protecting the sensitive electronic chips from static which can damage them. Packing Lite With The Strobist!
Approaching my early 40's has brought about a major change in the way I pack for assignments. I no longer feel the need to pack every light, every stand and light modifier I own. In fact I have learned to do more with less and improve upon the quality of the work at the same time. Send me out the door with a camera, a light bulb and one match and I will come back with good pics! With experience comes the confidence to 'make do' and utilize your surroundings and minimal gear to accomplish any assignment. Not every job will produce images worthy of 'Communication Arts', but that is also the case with most ( average ) assignments, even when you pack the entire studio! Knowing my desire to slim down the gear and give my aching back a rest from equipment overload, a friend of mine turned me onto the STROBIST weblog . Contemplated Firebombing The FA The FA have been trying to restructure Colwyn Bay’s league for a few weeks now, splitting it into two sections. The FA was after a North/South split (which would put Colwyn Bay in the “Southern League”) but a lot of clubs were after an East/West split (which would put Colwyn Bay in the “Western League”), including ourselves. There are two motorways that run through the UK - the M1 (which goes along the east side of the country) and the M6 (which runs along the left side of the country). It is relatively harder and more expensive to get from East to West. Anyway, the FA in their infinite wisdom voted for a North South split, which means instead of playing teams like Lancaster and Clitheroe (and also FC United), we play teams like Spalding and Brigg who are miles away. Now, picture pulling it out of your shirt pocket and capturing special moments with it and making some seriously large poster sized prints of it without needing to seriously resize the image? That's the power of 12MP (megapixels) in the form of a small sleek digital camera, the Casio Exilim EX-Z1200SR. Casio has been fairly limited in their ability to compete against the likes of Nikon, Canon, Olympus, and Pentax in the DSLR product lines. In the digicam market, Casio is likewise ousted from any real position of market share. However, what they lack in market share, they more than make up for it in the features that they have packed into this tiny camera body. Casio, in their desire to sell cameras, has squeezed a 12MP sensor into this digital camera. There are concerns about noise, but then again, at 12MP, you have some room to size down your image to reduce noise patt

The following list is an addition of things that will help you travel through India: Lonely Planet Guide Book: Since India is such a large diverse country with a chaotic tourist industry, it is highly recommended that you bring this guide with you if your whole trip is not planned out. The Lonely Planet India book is better than others that I have seen. Toilet Paper: Most places in India only have squatter toilets without toilet paper. Considering diarrhea is high among travelers to India, this is highly recommended to be brought along at all times unless you don't mind u

      STILL PACKING, ETC.
Monday night, still packing and working after a short nap and a very long day. All this and we haven't even hit the road yet. Gonna disconnect from the internet tomorrow morning as everything goes into road-trip mode. Might post from the road -- still have my trusty Compaq laptop at my side, and, if the cats sitting in the truck next to me don't become psychotic before I do and I get reasonable rest at a couple of hotels, I'll try to plug in on the way out. Again, I want to thank everyone for the kind words, and the odd going-away beer I've consumed. I wish you the best.

      Holy packing sheet!
I am now starting to LOVE Cebu Pacific. From what I can gather, flights out of Manila are on Wednesdays, Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays, while flights out of Bangkok are on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. Haha, perfect for a weekend SHOPPING getaway! Similar to their Singapore and Kuala Lumpur flights, the Manila-Bangkok route also flies in the middle of the night: Manila - Bangkok ETD: 22:45 ETA: 00:50 (+1) Bangkok - Manila ETD: 01:35 ETA: 05:30 With the current promo, a round trip fare is approximately Php7,008.00. I’m not sure how much it will cost on a regular fare, because the flight schedules for dates after the promo travel dates aren’t posted yet. Hopefully, it won’t cost more than Php10,000. I’ve scratched out Bangkok from my list of destinations next year, but with this new development, I think I’m heading back to the City of Angels P.S. Fever’s down. Hopefully, it’d remain down until tomorrow. Advertisement: Test Link A

Send Google Pack Packing Says Paul Thurrott
Admittedly not directly related to healthcare information systems, I personally don't know very many people who go oneline and don't use Google's search engine. Although I'm the first to admit there is no other search engine nearly as capable as Google that I'm aware of it, I try to avoid using it if all possible because I find some of the company's business practices suspect, arrogant, or both. Also, many of their products - from Gmail to Google Talk - are honestly pretty mediocre. While I give Google credit for the concept behind Google Pack, I agree with Paul Thurrott that Google blew the execution: While virtually every computer company on earth is scared to death of Google, and virtually every PC user seems to be in love with them, Google Pack serves nicely as a reality check. Not only is Google human, buts the flaws in Google Pack suggest that this company has a long, long way to go before it can ever justify its insanely lofty stock price. Google Pack is a mixed bag o

      Unschooling, Packing, Button & Bump
I can't believe blogher is taking so much time to make a button. This one is from another blogher member. Feel free to take it, but only if you download it and host it yourself. I'm not really interested in being a server. Same on the sidebar. When they get their own, real button, I'll use it. In the meantime, this will certainly do. It will have to.Getting ready for Christmas and the majorly purgative NYC trip simultaneously is not so easy. Whew. It's almost Christmas, it's hot here, and I have to pack for cold weather. I'm not even sure I know where my coat is. Heh. K's is a tad small, but may have to do. It's down, so rolls up into nothing, but I'm not really my smaller size postpartum yet...I already miss the kids. B got a big bump today, on his still-healing scar in the middle of his forehead. He's not feeling so hot. Basically fine, but surprised his head hurts. Duh. I think that means a t.v. and movies day tomorrow. He'd normally be pretty enthused about that prospect

Vacation Packing Tips for Christmas Trips
Packing the baggage for the whole family on vacation needs good organization. Here is an idea that will help the kids get dressed on vacation. Assemble a complete outfit together - top, pants or skirt, underwear, socks or tights. Keep the largest piece outside and put the rest of the clothes on top, then roll into a bundle. This way, even your youngest can find their own oufit every morning of the vacation, all ready to get dressed. Well, that is the theory ...Tags: travel christmas vacation, news

I am very bad at packing
All right, so I'm up here in New York, sitting in a hotel room watching TV. I got up here first thing this morning -- after a wonderfully strange day of Rosh Hashanah services, a silly fun lunch, and dinner with my uncle, aunt, and 4-year-old cousin, followed by an evening of traditional post-Rosh Hashanah karaoke.Yeah, we're weird. So, because of the confluence of these events, my packing was somewhat haphazard -- or at least more so than usual. I knew I had to pack four days of work clothes, and pretty much just threw them into the suitcase. I left almost all of my toiletries at home because you can't bring anything on planes anymore, and besides, in Manhattan, there's a Duane Reade on almost every corner.I also took three books, in keeping with my rule.*I landed at LaGuardia and took a cab to the hotel. On the way, I called my Grandmother and Aunt, so that I could meet them in the city for brunch. Once I got to the hotel and checked in, I started unpacking -- mostly to minimize m

      Travel Packing Tips
The following are travel packing tips based on experience. I have gone to other countries for a month or more with nothing but a carry-on bag that weighed ten pounds. In fact, my number one travel tip is to go light whenever you can. The simplify of traveling light makes almost any trip more enjoyable.Unfortunately, going with only carry-on luggage is getting more difficult due to the newest rules about what you can actually carry on a plane. If you do want to keep it to just one bag that goes with you on the plane, check the latest regulations and leave behind anything that isn't allowed. It doesn't add that much expense to a trip to just buy these things at your destination. In fact, buying things as you go is a great way to simplify packing. Why bring twenty things just in case you need them, and then have to lug them around for the sake of the six you actually use? If it is a vacation in particular, why not plan just a little extra expense, and buy necessities as you travel? Many
