Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeekI've been participating in a photography challenge wherein you take everyday shots every day in attempt to make the subject look, well, NOT. COMPLETELY. BORING. One may think this type of challenge shouldn't be that difficult. But imagine trying to make a salt shaker shizzle. And then imagine a toddler on your back, wearing you like a cape for that shot. It isn't qu
I woke up this morning and told myself (and my husband) that I would not be doing a post today....taking the day off.And here I sit...writing a post. I have been cleaning (like a mad-woman) all day. My adorable little niece, Maddy, is coming tomorrow and staying till Thursday. Here she is: OK, back to the story. I've been crawling around on my floors trying to pick up all the legos/marbles/junk. This morning, I had to deal with one of our HR secretaries, and it was déjà vu.
When I first started to work for this place I was in HR. I had passed my interviews and was doing paperwork as part of the hiring process. The HR secretary and I had the following conversation:

To the surprise of no one, "Concerned Woman" Matt Barber is already weighing in on today's amazing, fantastic, historic, world-changing ruling in California. But we're gonna give you the option: If you wanna read the ridiculous huffing and puffing, check...
"... but it's made out of Legos, has petals and a stem. That's all I'm gonna tell you."While Fury hasn't yet mastered the art of the Mother's Day gift hint, he does know his way around Legos. Better than I know my way around how to get a proper Mother’s Day gift, that’s for sure. Lucky for me, Joeprah was there to save the day. He advised me--Ok, so I straight up copied his gift (with his permission and blessing of course). I know this post on Mother’s Day ideas is last minute, but I know kids and I know guys. If I posted this any earlier, it would have been forgotten by now. By timing it this way, someone may actually use some of these ideas. Desperation spawns action. So go on, click. I’m even giving away stuff.

"I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You" è il singolo d'esordio dei Black Kids, cinque ragazzi della Florida che stanno facendo parlare molto di loro.

So, Black Kids. Those who downloaded their Wizard Of Ahhhs' EP raise your hand. Everyone? Good.
Obviously Black Kids are massively hyped, and obviously most of us will have already heard the demo recording of I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You ... read more!
…how to dance with you.
Less than a month ago, Sen. Collins' story about her refusal to investigate the Bush administration's dangerously corrupt procurement practices was that she didn't want to duplicate work being done elsewhere. But now she's singing a new tune.According to the Collins camp, the uproar for hearings--the kerfuffle over her scandalously lax approach to oversight of the Bush administration--should now be seen as a charade cooked up by a single overzealous Democrat:Staff for Susan Collins said today that the efforts [to get a hearing] were a politically charged one-man crusade, and the committee had more important issues to deal with..."All this stuff was going on, and a single Senator from New Jersey wanted us to drop all the other things and hold a hearing about one thing going on in Iraq," Abbo
I don't believe in instant karma. Why? Because I've had phenomenal amounts of luck all my life, without working particularly hard, or being especially nice. So why the charmed life? Dunno, people have commented that I have too attractive a personality for most people to resist, to which I would say, yes, I am more amusing that 99% of the people on this planet, but is that reason enough to have the Gods smile on me? Fact is, I have always had freebies drop in my lap without sucking up to people. Which is weird.I know some of you may be thinking, isn't this lady meant to be in Madras? Fact is, I'm not on the plane yet. I keep thinking about what my friend Sanjay said, the guy we're going to visit in Madras, who is getting married (just a small wedding, 1200 guests). We are flying today, on Qa
Sure, Metcalf is hilarious as the grumpy, cantankerous patriarch, but this clips true brilliance stems from the protagonists and their steadfast defiance of the laws of science. No One in this entire video adheres to any scientific laws! Its great. The sons guitar playing is so powerful that it actually shoots his father out a window. Dee Snider is able to turn children into badass, adult trannies by nodding at them
There are many things in this world that are completely wrong, but since they are the norm we tend to turn a blind eye towards it. One of these things is the lack of women of color in fashion magazines. Unfortunately, the world is used to seeing pale-skinned uber-skinny models on the pages of Vogue and such, but Naomi Campbell is taking a stand against this.Though Naomi was one of the first models to be called a supermodel, even she feels slighted sometimes and says "only white models, some of whom are not as prominent as I am, are put on splash pages."What is she going to do about this problem, you ask?Well she wants to set up a modelling program in Kenya, one of her favorite vacation spots. National Nine News says she has been "impressed by local beauties and sees a market for African faces on the world stage." Naomi also proclaimed,"I don't want to quit modelling until I find that black models get equal prominence and recognition by the world media and information instruments."This

James Bach recently pointed out some interesting quotes from this work that apply to software testers. I agree.Bacon argued that placing our preconceived beliefs over what we observe causes great harm. He went so far as to describe these harmful preconceived notions as “idols”. Bacon put these idols into four categories:Idols of the Tribe: Errors common to mankind.Idols of the Cave: Errors specific to each individual’s education and experience.Idols of the Market Place: Errors formed through association with others — often due to misunderstanding others.Idols of the Theater: Errors formed from dogma (institutionalized doctrine) and flawed demonstrations. All of these ex

You know what? I’m sick of being nice.
Far too many times in my life I’ve been the one who understands, who forgives, who is there no matter what. I’ve been chewed up, spat out and trodden on and I’ll still get up and say “Hey, i’m here for you.” I’ve been taken for granted so many times in my life. And admittedly seeing as how any relationship has two people in it I’ve been responsible for allowing it to happen. You let behaviours become habit and it’s hard for things to be any different. It’s happened in friendships, relationships, heck even working relationships.
Well thats gonna change.
I’m not playing nice anymore.
Costs me far too much. I compromise my own happiness. And I’ve paid for it dearly. As have others who choose to love me. It’s not fair on me and it’s not fair on them. I’ve allowed myself to become something I’m not in an attempt to keep others happy. And it’s r
