The first night out we searched for a place to grab some food and a couple drinks. What we found was Booches and who knew that we had found one of the top ten burger joints in America as rated by USA Today in 2000. Booches is an old time billiard hall that sells burgers that are cooked right behind the bar. Though I'd actually call them sliders as it was suggested to order at least two because of their small size. Beyond the great burgers, Booches is an gritty billiard hall that I'd guess has a pretty high level of players visiting it regularly. I say this because as along the wall a variety of cues are locked up awaiting their owners arrival for that next game. I put back a few at a couple of places including Connolly's On Fifth, The Alley Cat, and Cosmos Cafe to mention a couple. The Alley Cat is a very large club that has that "lowest common denominator" feel appealing to a crowd in their twenties by playing typical rock and pop. As someone who enjoys going out regularly, the quality of nightlife is key to my overall impression of a city. So we headed out our first night to explore the Belltown area. It had a couple of bars that I'm think we caught on an off night because they were slow. The first one, Viceroy, is an upscale lounge that is a good place to start the night, meet up with friends and then head somewhere else to turn up the energy. The second bar, SEE Sound Lounge, is more of an upscale dance club that has a very sharp appearance, unfortunately the sound on the night we visited was more hip-hop then techno/house which we were expecting. On balance Belltown was an average bar district that was worth visiting but didn't quite deliver.After exploring Belltown we decided that Pioneer Square was probably another neighborhood to explore for nightlife. I remember working as a barmaid at a cafe called Cozy a few years ago. I had foreigners coming to me and asking „Where could we go out tonight? We wanna dance!”. This question was even worse than asking for latte (which i didn’t know how to make…) because I couldn’t give them an answer. Later I created a system: “Do you like live music?”, i asked.
a) If the answer was “yes”, I suggested them live music club Tamsta in the old town.
b) If the answer was “no”, I pointed out club Gravity on the map and called them a cab.

My second review today is my other home away from home most Saturday nights, Mr.Black. Located down in the village on Bleecker and Broadway, I was first dragged there by my friend Austin. On the weekdays there isn't a cover (unless certain parties say there are), and on Friday and Saturday, it's $10 to get in, 21+ only. If you consider all the other clubs' cover charges (like Splash), 10 bucks isn't that bad. The drinks are moderately priced, and the crowd is very mixed. You have preps, muscles, queens, drag queens, hags, and the occasional lesbian. And the age range is pretty wide, from college freshmen to 50 year old stock brokers. Things are usually dead there until 12:30, when people really start piling in. What I like to do, is get there early, enjoy some drinks and the ability to easily walk to the bar, cause once this place gets going, it's hard enough to move let alone trek all the way to the bar for another rum and coke. People in my circle know the name 'Therapy' very well by now. For 2 consecutive summers I spent my Friday nights boozing and schmoozing inside and outside of this hot Hell's Kitchen gay bar/restaurant. I've seen the place go through 3 bouncers since I originally started going there, and their current one Blake, is the most adorable teddy bear in the city. He even has his own show every Monday night.I came across the bar a couple years ago when my 'straight' friend Luke told me about a cute gay bar he was dragged to by one of his girlfriends. Currently taking a hiatus from harassing people while smoking and talking to the bouncer, I will eventually work my way back there one day.Overall I give the establishment 3 out of 4 stars. They always have great music, pop and dance, but unfortunately, no cabaret license means no dancing to it (though many hags try and fight that rule). And even though they have no cabaret license, they blast the music through the bar making it really hard (

Over the weekend I was in Chicago and spent time with my Daughter, Brhea, at the Art Institute of Chicago and was blown away by the impressive and wide ranging collection.
