      The Needles, England
A very interesting place i must say... The Needles is a row of three distinctive stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight close to Alum Bay. A lighthouse has has stood at the western end of the formation since 1859. The formation takes its name from the former fourth needle-shaped pillar called Lot's Wife that used to stand in its midst until it col

Acupressure for the active guy: this ancient healing art can boost your energy and relieve you pain—without needles
Tom, a personal trainer in his early 30s, had an atypical technique: Instead of just showing his clients an exercise, he occasionally would do it along with them in order to reinforce proper exercise form. The side-by-side approach did wonders for client motivation, but sometimes left him with inflamed muscles, characterized by especially painful knots in his back. And while the Jacuzzi helped to

How to Choose Your Knitting Needles
The success of any knitting project starts by choosing the proper knitting needle. That's because the needle determines what the stitches look like and how much you actually enjoy knitting. Finding the Needles
Recently, I went on a couple of recruiting trips for my school district. The trips took me to a Texas town about 400 miles east of El Paso and the other to a town in Indiana. Both trips were most enjoyable, and the Indiana trip was the first time I had ever been to that part of the country. Everyone and every place was a pleasant experience. Here is how recruiting works (at least at the two job fairs that I attended): You sit a table that has your school district identified somehow, in our case we have a 6 foot vertical banner and have some kind of something to hand out to the passing students, most of whom are ready to graduate and get jobs. We were specifically looking for math and science teachers so we even had a nice banner offering a $6000 signing bonus for coming and joining our El

He usually is; I don’t know where he gets his fearlessness, but it certainly wasn’t from my genetic contribution. Both of the technicians who did the blood draw said that Michael could teach some adults how to take a poke. He can watch the needle being shoved into his vein and offer little more than a slight "ouch." Not even a wince, to say nothing of a tear. But it was his insistence that everyone admire the owie he’d gotten the other day that really took the cake. I don’t really remember how he got it, but on

The bad news is that the meds make want to do things like sleep all day and fall over for no reason.I had a migraine exactly like this when I was pregnant with Elle so I'm sure it's no big deal and it will pass and everything will be fine but for right now, jeebus cripes, this aint fun.Yesterday I went to the ob to get checked out because I wanted to be sure that my haeadache was just a migraine and not pre-eclampisa or something because I'm totally paranoid about that this time around. I didn't get to see my regular ob because he's always booked (overbooked actually) so they had me see this total dingbat instead. She checks my blood pressure - fine. Listens to the baby's heartbeat - fine. Weighs me - ack! Then she says "Well, you look great and baby sounds great. Anything else I can do for you today?"Um. Ye

I’ve seen how sick he is, and its really terrible. I just hope no one else in our house will get sick! There are apparently different types of Hepatitis, all the way from A - G. I never knew this. Hepatitis A is apparently the least dangerous, though you do feel horrible for a long time. It is however highly contagious - like flue. I believe that people are normally booked of work for a month if they have this!

Neighborhood Associations can be good when they lobby for such things as sidewalks and bicycle lanes. But they can also be royal pains in the ass. They will do such things as get zoning ordinances enacted which prohibit the placement of gnomes in your front yard, and they always frown on decent parties. The neighborhood association lodged a complaint with the city council. Acupuncture without needles? An alternate way of treating stress, depression, and other anxiety-related illnesses:
The principals of acupuncture are based on the stimulation of certain points throughout the body. These points are interconnected and are known as meridians. The organs and limbs along these meridians beneficially respond to stimulation, with a subsequent relief of pain and an improvement in the general sense of well-being.

      Meet the Needles
I picked up my second Hepatitis B shot ($80) and an adult Polio booster ($50) during a lunch break this week.  A $15 office fee was tacked on to the cost of the shots, which brought the total to $145.  Luckily, my insurance will cover the Hep series, and office visit.  Unfortunately though, I’m running into an issue with getting a reimbursement in a timely fashion.  As it turns out, I might have to ask my mom to help me account for my reimbursements one I’ve left (yes, I’m worried it’ll take several months for the issue to get resolved). If I could do it again, I would’ve anticipated a longer reimbursement time frame, and started getting the shots earlier in the year.  All the immunizations I’m getting are good for several years, so it would’ve been fine to get them sooner rather than later. Next month, I intend to get my Yellow Fever ($98) shot, followed by the third and final Hep-B shot in October (at least 4 months after the first shot)

      Needles all around!
Today Jesse and I went to talk to a surgeon about removing a little lump from his arm. Joseph's arm, not the surgeons. He has this hard little lump near his right elbow and it seems to have gotten a little bigger and squishier since we first noticed it two months or so ago. He's had both an x-ray and an ultrasound on it and the doctor just can't figure out what it is. In his doctor's words, "Just like everything else about Joseph, this isn't falling neatly into any category so I'm not exactly sure what we're dealing with here."So on August 3rd I'm going to take him in to have the lump removed. Chances are it's no big deal but since there is the very tiny chance that it could be some kind of tumor Jesse and I thought it was best to have it removed and biopsied. Yippee. They told us the surgery itself will only take about 15 minutes but he'll have to be knocked out because there's no way he could be calm enough and still enough for it to be done with just local anesthesia. A simple way to protect yourself in the winter season from knife and needle attacks is to simply buy a pair of kevlor gloves. I have used these working in night clubs and by simply wearing these any idiot pulling a blade on you gets a total surprise when you simply grab the knife from his hand without cutting yourself due to the kevlour material. A pair of these gloves which look like regular leather gloves will run you around $70 and is worth the investment when it comes to your safety and security.

I thought I was in for a fun and enjoyable day, so I settled down in my stroller on the train ride there and took a nap. Boy, was I wrong! They placed me on this irritatingly cold weighing machine and *beep* the machine went, registering 7.9kg on the readout. I was fussing about. I didn’t like the fake Smillow they made me lay my head on. It was smelly! I thought it was over when Daddy lifted me off the weighing machine. I thought he was air-lifting me to safety. Boy, was I wrong! Again! He did what the nurse lady told him and placed me on another machine to have my height (or rather length) taken. To add insult to injury, the nurse lady took off one of my shoes! Doesn’t she know how cold that thing they placed at my foot to measure me was?? I made it clear to Daddy that I didn’t like it by cryi

Question about Serger needles posted by Bear Sews
I think I drove my husband nuts about all the talk about sergers. He finally got me one from Sears (Kenmore 16677) as an early birthday present. I was reading the manual last night and it says to use "HA-1SP #14 or #11 needles". I'm confused because the extra needle set that came with it just says "needles for sewing machine".
