Modern tennis is, after all, all about power ' power of movement, power of shot and power of thought ' and Nadal is an undisputed world-class powerhouse in all of these departments. While the Yankees Youth Movement Stalls the Enemy's Shines
The Yankees youth movement has hit a bit of a bump in the road. Phil Hughes is hurt again and Ian Kennedy has been sent down to regain his confidence. Both have been not just mediocre but horrible. For comparison sake, Jeff Weaver had one of the worst seasons by a starting pitcher I have ever witnessed in 2003 with a 5.99 era and 1.62 Whip - both are significantly better then Hughes (9.00 Era, 2.14Whip) and Kennedy (8.37 Era and 2.03 Whip). Phil's and Ian's Eras are good for 149th and 152nd best in baseball with pitchers with at least 20 innings pitched (154 total pitchers). Those two have also failed to go 5 innings in 8 out of their 12 appearances. Hooker explained to parents in a letter this month that tag had become a game "of intense aggression." ... Many schools nationwide have whittled down playground activities in response to concerns about injuries, bullying or litigation. I read more and more reports and articles of a single special interest group threatening free speech and exchange of ideas over the World Wide Web and the threats keep growing. The latest example is Indonesia threatening to block access to YouTube over a single content item, the 16 minute film Fitna. This is the use of a threat to block freedom of expression. Here is why this is not only wrong, but useless. Any item off the Internet can be placed on any web site. Right now you could download Fitna and drop it on your own web site. If enough people did that the only way a place like Indonesia could block access would be to cut every Internet cable into their country. What the post points out is that Prof. Falk is also sympathetic to/involved in the 9/11 Truth movement. It argues, and I agree, that this makes him a suspicious and not very good choice to investigate the human rights mess he's been assigned.9/11 Truthers believe one of a number of things. Either the Twin Towers were blown up by the government or someone working for them, or the hijacking plan was known but not stopped to further certain interests. These are the two most moderate theories. There are others, like the idea that lasers from either aliens or satellites destroyed the Towers, or that the Towers were 'transported' away and not destroyed.A

While I was looking out of the window, the plane seemed to hang between the sea and infinity, between sky and earth. With extreme emotion I watched what humans three thousand years ago could only imagine.”He adds, “When I reached my destination, I dared to watch the horizon again, now from the tiny beach of St Vincente, and I realised for the first time the clouds, mighty, without movement or speed, act like curtains. I witnessed how this curtain of clouds hid the endless universe and its

      Superdelegate movement starting to stagnant
Over the past couple of weeks there has been little or no movement with the Superdelegates in terms of new commitments. Over the past two weeks Obama has gained 7 Superdelegates, lost 2 Superdelegates for a net gain of 5... while Hillary has gained a whopping grand total of 2 Superdelegates. Right now there are still 338 uncommitted or undetermined Superdelegates and it appears that a majority of them are looking to remain uncommitted. This is actually fairly good news for Hillary who has at the very least stopped the bleeding. More to the point, the more uncommitted Superdelegates that are out there, the more the perception is that they will be the people who decide the nomination. The longer that perception hangs around, the more palatable that perception becomes to the gene

Well, it looks like former Glen Ridge Mayor Carl Bergmanson and his efforts to recall Gov. Jon Corzine may be gaining some serious momentum. What broke yesterday on Baristanet, then here, moved on to major news outlets like The New York Times, 1010 WINS, NJ 101.5 and more. We're working on getting Bergmanson on with us for a live interview, but in the meantime, if you'd like to sign the petition, you can download one by clicking here. Now keep in mind, you've got to sign a petition according to your county. So if you print them, and have friends sign them, make sure they're signing for the county in which they live. Signers must be registered voters, as well. Finally, all petitions have to be notarized before being sent back to the recall committee.Bergmanson needs 1,300,000 signatures to g

They are, however, a group of SDS socialist sycophants and primarily made up of ignorant chronic malcontents that can not allow themselves to accept responsibility for their own stupidity...they always blame someone or something else. Perhaps this is why the news media gives them so much attention - maybe. In a recent article in the NY Slimes, the bastion of BDS and state secret tellers, they had a headline which read; A War Protest Falls Short in Manhattan. Damn Near Seven Years of Failure: The Phoenix Anti-War Movement and the Ritual Cult of Defeat
By Phoenix Insurgent In the process of getting ready to write something new about the anti-war movement here in Phoenix, I re-read my past writings on the topic. Looking them over, I realized, why bother? Nothing has changed. Ritual and ineffectiveness still dominate the movement, as do activists who need the war to justify their management of others (to get votes, to build organizations or just to massage their own egos). A fear of shaking things up and a conservative attitude towards tactics prevails. Failure, rather than success, has become the benchmark for the movement. To continue losing, to continue to stand impotent before the forces of the elite war machine, has in fact become a sort of measure of success in its own right. We're still here, and we're still against the war, seem

Not Just For Cars Anymore - ‘Complete Streets’ Movement Focused On Making Way For Cyclists, Pedestrians, Transit
If America is going to conserve energy and become more physically fit, a good place to start would be with the streets. Click Here to View Original Article Since at least World War II, streets have been regarded primarily as conduits for cars and trucks. But if streets and their sidewalks and intersections were handled in a more far-sighted way, they would serve a bigger slice of the population — pedestrians, bicyclists and mass transit riders , as well as motorists. Throughout the United States, a “Complete Streets” movement is emerging, causing more and more governments to broaden their outlook. According to a report last fall in the AARP Bulletin, 52 municipalities, six counties, 10 regional governments and 14 states have adopted Complete Streets policies. These policies r

In contrast to Belgium's enthusiasm, Germany has rejected the U.S. request for more NATO troops to “secure”

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) –The 8 Phases of Treatment Part 3*
Let’s wrap up this week’s look at the 8 phases of EMDR treatment by exploring phases 7 and 8. Phase 7 of EMDR treatment is all about closure. During this phase, the therapist will ask the trauma patient to keep a journal throughout the week documenting anything that reminds the patient of the self-calming steps that they worked on together in phase 2. In phase 8, the therapist and trauma patient discuss the previous 7 phases and any progress the patient has made since the previous treatment session. At this point, the trauma patient will likely be able to report the state of dysfunction from the past traumatic event has at the very least been decreased; and hopefully, eliminated. Check back next week as we examine TIR – or traumatic incident reduction. Hope Makes Healing Possi

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) –The 8 Phases of Treatment Part 2*
We’ve taken a look at phases 1 and 2 of EMDR treatment. Now let’s see how phases 3 through 6 work. In phases 3 through 6, the trauma patient identifies a vivid visual image related to the traumatic event, as well as a positive visual image or thought. The therapist and patient then rate both the positive thought and the negative visual image on a scale of 1-10 in terms of the amount of anxiety attached to each image. Next, the trauma patient focuses on the negative visual image from the traumatic event and his or her feelings about this image while following the therapist’s finger as it moves across the patient’s field of vision for at least 30 seconds. The next step requires the trauma patient to let his or her mind to go blank, and to then be aware of any thoughts or fee

Eye movement Desensitization Reprocessing, or EMDR, is an effective psychotherapy treatment used to help trauma patients, and is made up of 8 phases. In the first phase of EMDR, the therapist takes the trauma patient’s history and assesses his or her readiness for EMDR treatment. Readiness would include being free of psychotic symptoms and having the capacity to ground oneself. Together, the therapist and client talk about a traumatic event and what triggers the current state of dysfunction today. In this phase, the therapist and trauma patient might also discuss other past incidents that may be related to the patient’s current state, and how to develop skills to create a positive future.
