In the end we may feel zapped of energy, a loss as to what our goals are and unmotivated. Rewarding yourself is just one way to achieve your objectives and stay motivated. Every time you complete some goal that you have been working on you can reward yourself with anything that you truly desire. This may be a shopping spree, a massage, a vacation, chocolate cake or just about anything else you want. The reward means that you have achieved some benchmark and are happy with the results. The reward should be appropriate to the goal that you are achieving. For example, you wouldn’t want to

You go to the gym every day because of two common reasons in most cases: either you really want to lose weight or you want to keep your achieved weight the same. Either ways, it is a process of “I need to” and not “I like to”. And what is really to like? Sweating? Exhausting yourself indoors like a caged rodent? Well no, but its results are greater than that discomfort and by the end of your program you can look in the mirror and think that you’ve achieved something more by getting in shape and being healthy. It’s quite hard to get in that great shape you want but in the end it’s worth it. All sorts of fitness gyms try to make your workout as fun and pleasant as possible – I’m sure you like the active music that pumps you up and gives you the energy to keep on stretching.

I think it can be summed up in one common sports phrase: "The way you practice is the way you play the game." Too many of our players don't take practices seriously and they are joking around and not focusing on the task at hand. They don't pay attention in practice and it is reflected in the way they play on the field, court, or arena. What makes the problem even worse is the fact that these players often have a detrimental effect on the attitude and coachability of others. So, how do you motivate all of the pl

And who would have thought that after the end of the A-League season that I would be watching more football than during it. I have been in attendance at all of my newly adopted team, Richmond's first four games in the VPL which included on away trip to Fawkner. Plus doing some match reports on other games means that on most weekends I will be watching at least two games of football.I have also been doing a fair bit of reading, most of it not necessarily football related but I am halfway through Austra

      Mechanistic Motivation
Grant McCracken offered a great post on February 29th on his blog "This Blog Sits at the Intersection of Anthropology and Economics." In the post Grant discusses a recent "argument" about whether Malcom Gladwell's "influencers" from his "Tipping Point" book really influence markets or whether, as Duncan Watts states, that all members in a network are just as likely to transmit information and therefore the impact of "influencers" is much less than Gladwell indicated. A few might see the motivation behind this
I find myself wondering this morning if there is 'bad speech'In an absolutely free and liberated word... anyone should be able to say, truly anything.I'm not saying we should agree with anything that is said. But I feel anyone should have the freedom to say it.I suppose then, the question becomes... where is the safe line of consequences? We often throw 'Flag Burning' onto this heap. In the United States there are some that feel that this goes to a point of taboo while others view it as representative of the freedoms the country stands for. So who is right? You can't really ask one extreme side or the other because they have the definitive answer that they are right and the other side is wrong. Fall to extreme-extremism and you get those that will kill to defend their views. And to be hones

These are better than my bulky yellow Sony Walkman 20 years ago! And yes, I still have that POS. Motivation Monday - Do You Have to Work Today?
How many of us have to work today and feel really bad?  How many of us are complaining that someone we know doesn’t have to work the same time we are grinding away?  Why do we even care what other people have or don’t have to do? I’m sure this won’t make the rest of us feel much better, but I’m working right now while my fiancee is sleeping in bed.  If we think about it, our work day isn’t better or worst no matter what our friends are doing.  Some of them may be playing golf now, while some evil friends might even call you during the day to rub it in.  However, these are the times where our true character shows! Think of the positive side.  Whether we are home or at work, we would be reading Money Ning anyway right? :)  In addition, we won’t be spending any money while we are working!  On another note, would anyone be working that hard today anyway?  Let’s spend some time to chat with our colleagues and get to know them.  The h

Weight Loss Motivation: Why can some people lose weight and keep it off while others can't?
What is the secret of permanent weight loss? The answer to this question is simple: it's all about motivation. At the beginning of a diet, every one is highly motivated. But as time goes on and boredom and a feeling of deprivation set in, people lose their motivation. Or they get stuck on a plateau. Nothing like a plateau (when you stop losing weight despite adhering to your diet) to destroy motivation. Or something goes wrong in life in general. When stress levels go up, motivation to diet can plummet. So how do some people manage to lose weight and keep it off? They have discovered a secret about motivation not generally known: Motivation is like food for the brain. You cannot get enough in one sitting. It needs continual and regular top ups. And cool! And all the six month olds were doing it!But over the weekend our friends Nico and Judith gave us a toy their youngest was no longer as interested in. Today's result: instant motivation to stay upright and play.

Motivation Monday - The Power of Optimism
Focusing on work during the holidays is extremely hard.  In fact, I heard from the radio that one in three people admit that they are thinking about Christmas more than work in December.  With all the shopping lists and parties to worry about, there just doesn’t seem to be any space to fit work in especially since it is Monday morning! Hang in there my friends; there is still one more week before it is the week of Christmas.  Feel happy because the holidays are coming, but don’t get lazy as the days off draws near.  Think about all the people that are unemployed and you will feel better that you have a place to work in. I know you feel like Friday is very far away but the weekend is getting closer and closer as you read this article.  Trust the power of optimism because it will lead you to success.  Didn’t Friday just got closer? (even closer for those that read slower) Happy Monday! ---Related Articles at Personal Finance Blog by Money Ning:Everyone Has Monday

      Some Motivation For Today…
Here is a little motivation for you from Ralph S. Marston, Jr. Read it, think about it and then go out and reach your goals! The Higher You Aim… When things become difficult, and every effort seems to bring disappointment, it can be tempting to lower your expectations. It can seem like the most reasonable response is to water down your goals and ambitions. But that’s exactly what you don’t want to do. For diminished expectations only lead to even more diminished results. If the future equaled the past, then it would make sense to set your sights lower in response to difficulty and disappointment. Thankfully, though, the future most certainly does not equal the past. What you accomplish in the future depends on the strength of what you intend to accomplish. The higher you aim, the higher you will climb. Now that doesn’t mean borrowing a lot of money and spending it frivolously, hoping to pay it back in the future. It means being committed to doing whatever it

Invincible! Driving to the "heart" of motivation
How motivation and determination made one man's dream, a reality.Based on a true story, this story takes place in the summer of 1976, and Vince Papale is a 30 year old bartender, who is down on his luck, and running out of options. His wife leaves him, telling him that he'll never amount to anything, and that he will never make a name for himself. The new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Dick Vermeil announces that he will hold open tryouts for the team, and at the urging of his friends, Vince reluctantly answers the call, having no college football experience, and having played football for only a year in high school. Overcoming almost impossible odds, Vince makes the cut, and goes on to play three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. While I watched this movie with my family, I thought about the many people in Real Estate and the mortgage industry, who are trying to make a living, and are making it, overcoming obstacles that look impossible to others. What sets those people apart,

Motivation : Take up the challenge
The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever. The farther the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish. If the return trip took more than a few days, the fish were not fresh. The Japanese did not like the taste. To solve this problem, fishing companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer. However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen and they did not like frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower price. So fishing companies installed fish tanks. They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin. After a little thrashing around, the fish stopped moving. They were tired and dull, but alive. Unfortunately, the Japanese could still taste the difference. Because the fish did

Motivation Through Job Enrichment: What Are The Key Components?
Motivating employees is always one of every manager’s goals. Motivated employees contribute to productivity thus directly increasing profitability for the organization. Structuring jobs and roles correctly is very important in elevating the motivation of employees. The main stream theory on motivation in general is based on Maslow’s needs hierarchy. Maslow’s constitutes a hierarchy of needs made of: Existence, Security, Social Relations, Esteem/Reputation, Autonomy and Self Realization. Every person strives to progress in the pyramid from existence to self realization. Motivation stems from the next unattained level. Each step forward is accompanied by satisfaction and each step back with frustration. As most employees have realized the basic need in the hierarchy as existence, security and social relations motivation stems from the attempt to attain esteem, autonomy and self realization. Hence efforts to increase motivation should concentrate on providing employees with the proper
