Agnico-Eagle is a strong mid-tier producer who will be ramping up production significantly over the next few years. Current projects are in mining friendly areas where the risk of seizure and problems are low. Recent mergers have left a gap in the mid-tier gold mining sector and Agnico-Eagle is well positioned to fill that gap. Longer term, a takeover by a much larger mining company is not out of the question.

I went back to Spices of Malaysia again. Its a food court located in Mines Shopping Fair@ Sungai Besi, Sri Kembangan, Balakong. a newly renovated food court, with nice new furniture, adequate air conditioning. Important thing is that , it also has got a lot more space, and definitely looks a lot cleaner than the old foodcourt, we used to have to wait for a table now there is ample seats. You can say, its a world apart comparing the new and the old.So what do you do when you see a few chicks hanging around ? For me, my head will turn and then I will go check them out. At the Convention on Conventional Weapons in Geneva last month, Bush administration officials said that the threat to civilians from cluster munitions is “episodic” and “manageable within current response mechanisms” – presumably unless you’re a child attracted by the bomblets. They said it “only” took two years to clear the high-risk affected areas in Kosovo after 1999, but also admitted that eight years later, unexploded bomblets remain. They cited 10 countries threatened by cluster bombs – Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Iraq, Laos, Lebanon, Montenegro, Serbia, and Vietnam – as well as Kosovo, leaving out another 20 countries so affected.

Chihuahua (Mexico), May 31 (IANS) Two hundred women have overcome male chauvinism and superstition to carve out a niche - albeit tiny - in Mexico’s expanding mining industry, reports the Spanish news agency EFE.
Resistance to females in mining springs both from the sexism that remains rampant in Mexico and from miners’ lore, which holds that mines entered by women will experience accidents or see their mineral deposits run out.
Old-timers say such calamities occur when the feminine spirit that inhabits the mine reacts with jealousy to the presence of female rivals.
The president of the Mexican Mining Association, Xavier Garcia de Quevedo, said the country’s entire mining industry, with a workforce of 279,000, employs a maximum of 200 women.
The first mining company to promote the employment of women was Peñoles, which began training women 10 years ago at La Herradura, located in the northern state of Sonora and is Mexico’s largest open-pit gold mine.

Mining has played an important role in the Indonesian economy, as the country boasts major deposits of oil, gas, copper, gold, nickel, coal, silver, diamonds and base metals. And the mining industry has the potential to make an even larger contribution to public welfare because most of the country's mineral resources have remained under-explored.
