I have something for you today. It's a surprise! So pick a hand...Okay, no, sorry-- that sort of thing only works in person, doesn't it? So instead, I guess I'll just have to tell you.In addition to a few thrifted finds, and a little bit of decorating I'd wanted to show you, I also pulled together a fun little feature for the blog.If you happen to scroll down this web page and look in the right-ha
It has been 8 months since I sat astride a motorcycle and felt the raw power at the end of my palm. Being a biker-by-birth, to be without riding motorcycles for such a long time is something like not...

Yankee Stadium in New York will be torn down after the 2008 season. Millions have taken memories from what is probably the most famous sports edifice in America.Cosimo "Chic" Cicchelli has his treasured memento from New York stored in a safe at his Corona home. It's an autograph book with the signature of Yankee star Joe DiMaggio and a black and white picture of the "Yankee Clipper" taken by Cicch

Hey,
Did you know that Congress has signed away our right to privacy?
It’s true! By making FISA law, the President and Congress have made it legal for US agencies to spy on our text messages, email, and phone calls to people outside the US,
These moments are precious, these moments in time
Cherished memories etched on the parchment of life
Some felicitous, some lamentable, assortment of both
Reminiscent of tinkling laughter and at times of strife
As I turn pages of my life, these moments gaze back
They ask many a question, and give many an answer
Sifting through memories with the sieve of my mind
I try to discard some, preserving
Nanotubes hold promise for non-volatile memory and with a commercial prototype nanotube-based RAM predicted in 1 to 2 years, and terabyte capacity memories ultimately possible. Similar promises have been made of molecular memory from several companies, with one projecting a low-cost memory based on molecule-sized cylinders by end 2004 that will have capacities appropriate for the flash memory mark
Let’s be honest–the tech media this week will be all about Apple’s (AAPL) newest 3G iPhone, which is set to be released into the wild on Friday. So let’s get an early start, shall we?And what better way than re-posting BoomTown’s videos from the maiden launch of the JesusPhone, which took place just a tiny bit over a year ago.
I don't know how come I didn't throw those tickets, invoices and clothing tags away, and today's packing really brought me back to every little detail that happened in the past 3 years in Shanghai. I even found the old tape recorder I used to use in undergraduate school, and even that old useless battery. I have many clothes, and each tag and invoice can tell me when and where I brought them. Th
A friend pinged with with info about a patient community website he'd just found; Patients Like Me.He'd found it very useful to exchange experiences and information with those with his condition. I had a look around the site and found thriving communities, including one for HIV/AIDS.This took me right back to two decades ago (gulp) when the first internet responses to AIDS appeared. In the early 9
So I always liked a wide variety of music, but when I watched all three days of Woodstock 94', (god bless hot boxes, free pay-per-view) it blew my mind. That's when I became a Nine Inch Nails fan. But then their was the debacle of Woodstock 99' which was filled with riot, rape, craziness. But the craziness didn't really start until Limp Bizkit performed. I'll admit I bought a few LB albums but was

Hello again. Please keep reading - I promise this isn't another blog talking about inflation and the exchange rate. I must have been drugged up to write that. Washington Square Park, images from 2006-2007, before the current renovations. The fountain area you see here has since been torn up, and a new fountain, realigned in symmetry with the Arch and Fifth Avenue, is taking its place. Much of Washington Square Park is currently fenced off for the renovations, disappointing many visitors. I've been really missing the old place, so I've assembled some sea
Relive Your Hunting Memoriesby Ethan O. TannerA successful hunt is full of reminiscences, and one of the best ways to maintain these memories is to mount your antlers if you are skilled or lucky enough to harvest a nice Buck. Other methods of preserving your hunting recollections include a hunting photo album, a special hunting photo mounted on a plaque, a slide show of the preferred hunt pictures
I remember playing outside at school with my friends during recess. I was in third grade, and I loved running around, darting from one piece of equipment to another. Exercise, games and activities were the most common ways I got to know other kids and build relationships with them. One day, while trying to get a group together to play a game of freeze tag, I noticed a few boys surrounding a kid w

Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved. I realized in my move just over a month ago that I had a lot of stuff, you can even read a post I did on it HERE and a follow up post HERE! In my effort to declutter and lighten my load, I came across a huge amount of photos taken before the age of the digital camera (or at least before I had one). What to do?
I decided that I would spend some time scanning them. By scanning the images, I could bu
It was so, so, SO warm today - if I hadn't HAD to go out, I
might have curled up next to the refrigerator. Well, that might be
a bit of an exaggeration, but in this part of the country we are,
officially, in a Heat Wave.
I thought of seasons past, when curling up to the fireplace
would have been more appropriate, and decided to let my memories
help cool me off.

The King Kong tram tour was just the best. It was my favorite
ride at Universal. It always the first thing I did at the park. And
the last thing I would do before leaving. Once leaving king Kong
tour, you could see The Lyon Estate props and The Clock Tower. The
tour guide would stop the tram so people could take photos of it. I
hope Universal will rebuild these 2 much loved icons.

I was never really aware of the scents the desert produces when rained on until the summer after BTP came home from the hospital. The monsoon season that year was phenomenal, and the smells that came through the windows of that tiny apartment soothed me. When I experience something of taste worth noting, I archive it within the catacombs of my taste memories. There it is tagged and filed away - until there is new life breathed into it again, on some chance encounter with my taste buds.My palate has slowly matured. I wasn't always one to remark on how great a microbrew was. But now I appreciate the bold, earthy and spicy undertones contained in the hoppy liquid. I appreciate the complexities of each type of brew. And every now and again these same taste memories resurface like amber ghosts haunting me with unequaled sweetness. I begin to ache for another chance - another dance with this foamy goodness. My palate of course has not singled out microbrews exclusively, in it's maturity. I have taken on all types of complex tastes and texture

This may seem like a funny thing to say but, I have a lot of memories of Hillcrest Hospital, A.K.A. Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, in Waco, TX. The first thing I want to share is not a memory though. It is a statement from some very reliable sources, "Barry, you were born at Hillcrest Hospital!" Now I don't remember this because I was much too young at the time of my birth, but as I said, many people that should know have told me this many times in the past.My first memories of the hospital do not really occur until I was in the 7th grade at North Junior. My family had just moved 2 blocks away from the hospital. Often times ambulances would fly by our house heading north on 30th Street with sirens wailing. Boy, for a 12 year old guy in the 60's that was really neat. I would run out of t
I am grateful for the blessings of memories--especially in the form of old photographs. Yesterday my daughter and I began the first step in a new project we're undertaking together. This is organizing our old family and friends photos in creative scrapbook fashion with story lines and collage.Since I'm very sentimental about old photos and have collected so many through the years, this is a HUGE undertaking, and I'm blessed that my daughter is as enthused about working on this project as I am. We began by gathering some of the photos in various albums and sorting them by subject, but there wasn't enough time to sort through ALL the photos! We had many good laughs looking at ourselves and others at different ages with different hair styles. We had our dorky photos and our "wish-I-still-looke
Lincoln stopped playing youth baseball this season. His commitments to wrestling and off-season football conditioning were so extensive that adding baseball was just too much to consider. Of course I supported his decision, but if I had realized at the time that last summer was his final season I would have paid more attention and savored the waning moments of his relationship with the sport.
