Monday Emmett wasn't feeling quite like himself, so he got to stay home today with Grandma Bell while mom and dad went to work. Grandma surprised Emmett by bringing him McDonald's pancakes for breakfast. When he was done eating breakfast, he grabbed a brown Crayola marker from the kitchen table, and began coloring on a piece of paper. When he got tired of coloring on the paper, he began coloring on his pancakes. Later in the day, Emmett got to use his Crayola marker again, and he got caught sticking the marker into his mouth. By the time we could get to him, he had completely bitten the tip of the marker off, and was sucking on it in his mouth. No harm done...except a very brown colored tongue for the rest of the afternoon.

Before the game on the road this past Thursday against Georgia Tech four Virginia Tech players discovered that somehow their jerseys were missing.Georgia Tech gave the players old Georgia Tech road jerseys to use. Markers were used to cross out the "Georgia Tech" name across the front of the jersey and to scribble the player's last names on the back. I wanted to update you on my previous post about my friend, the one who is pregnant with her third baby. Quick recap: she was having twins and lost one, then found out that the remaining baby had a marker for Down Syndrome. Well, we hung out last night and I am so happy to report that they went through a TON of tests and determined that the baby girl is 100% healthy and does not have Down Syndrome. What a relief! I’m very concerned about the way her doctor handled the situation. The ultrasound tech was great and kept everything in perspective. She stressed that it was only a marker and they could do further tests to confirm or deny the results. She only mentioned Down Syndrome. She used the word “concerned” but said she was not “worried” yet. Then, the doctor came in and started talking about other things beyond Down Syndrome and stressed mental retardation, quality of life and having to make decisions about the pregnancy.
