Another thing that I have been thinking about lately on the matter of Love (true, passionate, romantic Love) ...We want to be loved: 1) by someone we respect (having characteristics we admire); and 2) for traits which we value AND which we feel we possess.We need to be "seen" accurately (in our opinion) by someone whose perspective matters to us and we want that person to "value" in us things that *we* find valuable in ourselves.  If someone tells us they love us because we have characteristics that we don't feel we truly do  have - we can't accept it.  We feel that either they are lying to us about loving us (trying to get something from us), or they are deluded (and will eventually leave us once they discover "the truth" about us).
