These are the two things I say to myself when I get sad. They are so beautiful and inspiring. It has been my ‘hobby’ to write them in all the books I own, including dictionaries and my organizer/planner. I say them to myself whenever I remember the loss of the baby we’ve been waiting and [...]

This is actually the second time I apply this Nulon - Performance Engine Treatment to my car engine. The first time was during the Chinese New Year. Normally before the CNY, I will get my car serviced and checked, to make sure everything is alright. When I'm back to my hometown, my brother asked me did I just service my car as he wanted me to try something. According to him, pour this engine treatment oil every time after we changed the engine oil, is very good especially for old cars. (ok, my car 5 yrs old d, so consider old also lar..) Old cars, especially auto, if you pressed the break, you will feel your car shaking/trembling. So this will helped to reduce that and at the same time the car will be more powerful. Serious? I don't know, let's see.I wasn't really into this until i drove
Found a non-profit organization that was set up to sell handmade stuff where 100% of the proceeds are donated to participating no-kill animal shelter group. I have reserved 2 cards here to be donated as part of the fund raising program for a start and will provide the link in my humble blog once I received confirmation of acceptance from the organization.
Once again, thank you all for your
The plight of children in the world worsens every other day. It isn't getting any better though several people claim so.Something that upsets me a lot is the plight of the girl child in India. (Of other countries, I wouldn't want to comment, because I haven't been a witness to it.)A girl child is not given enough care or attention as much as a boy. Female foetuses are destroyed when in the womb without much care. The newspapers frequently carry a column citing instances of an abandoned baby and in most cases, it is a girl. A larger percentage prefer a boy when asked on the preference of the sex of the child. Such preference is highly prevalent amongst the low-income groups. Probably this is why sex determination tests are banned in India. I had a maid who on when asked on why she prefer ed

Entitled “Bonsai” due to its inspiration from the aesthetically dwarfed tree (obviously), this battery powered mantle clock, is perfect for the Nerd with Swag partial to the Japanese miniature trees, that doesn’t have the time or the patience for its constant tending, pruning and watering. The clock’s gears are actually made from plastic, although the [...]
I'm a water drinker... besides unsweetened ice tea it is the only thing I drink. So, I probably go through about 50 bottles of water a week - the 16.9 ounce ones. I have tried a filter and my water still tastes like absolute crap so I have no other choice other than buy gallons. But let's face it, you can't take those with you in the car, so I have one large 2 1/2 gallon jug for when I'm home and tons of bottles for at night and to go out with. I'm just starting to recycle these bottles (I know, I know, don't lecture because I haven't done this yet... I've chastised myself enough) But today I was reading Shape Magazine and I saw a little tidbit about the caps on these bottles of waters and soda caps and stuff. I didn't know that they end up not being recycled and sometimes end up in the oc
I saw this glass box on Decor8 and just have to have it. I love the idea of displaying old letters on a coffee table. I was just cleaning out my craft room closet the other day and started going through a box of old letters I have hidden away down there. At last, those notes (some heartfelt, some filled with sarcasm, others with touches of teen angst and he said/she said gossip) can have the special spot they have so longed deserved.

For a long time, I've been seeing the same standard anonymous avatars for people listed in comments at sites like johnchow.com. These avatars come from places like MyBlogLog and Gravatar. You've probably noticed them too. These are the ones I've seen:
Today I saw this one:
That got me thinking that taking a standard anonymous avatar and tweaking it a bit could be funny. You get so used to seeing the same old ones that when one of them is different somehow, it jumps out at you. So I made a few:

I really like the backwards silhouette, because that's just subtle enough to evoke a "WTF?" I also like the inverted ones, especially the plain types, where the only change is the color inversion. It's like they represent someone from a negative universe. The upside down ones I think are funny too, bec
Seeking the SacredIt comes to this: Knowing the warmth of your hand Upon my touch-starved desert flesh, The soft caress, palm to palm, Fingers twining one to one, Tracing each knuckle bend, each milky nail. I wake remembering a kiss Never given nor received, Yet always offered: My sacrificial lips swollen with the rush Of amorous blood clamoring release. The salty fruit of your skin Lingers upon my tongue's memory. I know the musky tastings Of your dark and secret places, Revealed in frantic tactile urges Pressing, wordless, forward. I will never hold you, But you are mine: Closer than twins Born one atop the other. You have sealed your sacred self Whole within my skin; The profane becomes Holy, and I worship Needing no other church.
You know that feeling you get when you’re driving home from a long and tiring day? It’s about 3 o’clock and you’ve been awake since last night. The road starts to blend together into one long, vertical black hole. Your eyelids are more difficult to lift with each blink. You are awakened by the sun setting over the horizon, creating a bright plumage over the hilltops that would make a peacock blush. You quickly right your vehicle on the road, aligning your tires with spaces void of snow. It is at this point you notice something following your car. Within minutes it has caught up to you. You are now racing head to head against your own shadow and no matter how fast you drive you are unable to escape it. You realize that all you have been doing for the entire ride, for months, for years, for your entire life, is escape the shadow your mind has cast over your life. Every choice you’ve made up to this point was in a vain attempt to overcome self imposed limitations on w
Brazilian supermodel Izabel Goulart has one thing to say to anyone who catches her on television tonight.
“Please don’t look at my butt,” she says with a laugh.
Good luck. That’s not so easy considering she’s talking about the CBS telecast of last month’s Victoria’s Secret show. As we all know, Heidi Klum & Co. sashay up and down the runway in barely there lingerie.
This was Goulart’s third VS show. But it’s the first time Goulart will be watching the final product with a nightclub full of strangers. She’ll be in Boston at the Estate to host the official viewing party.
“The last two shows I did for Victoria’s Secret, I watched with my girlfriends, but now there will be Red Sox and Patriots there,” the 23-year-old Goulart told me while she was being fitted for her party outfit (she’s going with a Dolce & Gabbana leopard-print dress and matching VS bra). “So, it’s going to be a little different.”
It will also be the first time she see

For anyone who checks out my site at all you might have seen that back in May of this year I decided to stop taking Cymbalta. It just felt that it was time to experience the world on my own and not under the influence of a mood elevator.
To my surprise, I was told that I could not just stop taking this medication but that I would need to taper down. Ok, not what I was planning on but I wanted to be successful at coming off Cymbalta so I followed my doctors advice.
To my dismay as soon as I started taking a lower dose my body started to go through withdrawal from Cymbalta. I couldn’t believe it. I thought that when I was in rehab detoxing and withdrawing from Oxycontin it would be the last time in my life that my body would be sick due to not having it’s drugs. I was wrong.
My doctor didn’t prepare me for what I was going to experience. I had flu like symptoms, canker sores, bone pain, total malaise (I was taking a four-five hour nap each day), exp

The blog’s on autopilot this weekend. At this point in time I’m somewhere in the air on the way to Ireland. In eight hours time I’ll possibly be having a Guinness, definitely watching the rugby and wishing a friend all the best as he’s getting married in a little while. Another good soldier cut down in his prime and all that. Anyhoo, as I’ve written this two days ago I haven’t a clue what’s happened now! If you know what I mean?
So I’m sticking up a video to keep you and my other reader occupied! Wish me and my liver luck over the next few days and everything should return to normal on Monday. By then I’ll be needing plenty of water!

I've been very busy today, and now I'm about to pass out b/c I'm so tired. But, I wanted to at least post something for today, the feast of St. Augustine. So, here's a link to an entry on St. Augustine that I made for the Catholic Defense Directory. It's a pretty good collection of articles on his life and thought. I hope you find it beneficial.Pax Christi, phatcatholic

Just to let everyone know, Blogger seems to be having a bit of trouble with polls right now, so if you are unable to submit your vote in our poll (on the right sidebar), please use the Chatter box to give us your opinion.Well, there is nothing news-worthy to speak of, but here are a couple of tidbits:In his "Memo to Colin Farrell," Richard Horgan is optimistic about the upcoming film, Pride and Glory. Here is the relevant bit:[...] Your New Line crime drama Pride and Glory is technically a studio film, but it’s written and directed by an American director with the same name as Irish actor Gavin O’Connor (can’t hurt), and would appear to return said filmmaker to his pre-Miracle, Sundance Film Festival Filmmaker Trophy days. It’s also the first time you’ve been paired with Ed Norton, a combo that somehow feels to me like it can only be dynamite. [...]There hasn't been a lot of buzz about Pride and Glory thus far, but the folks at the IMDB message board are speculating that a t
How the heck did I forget to share this gem?So last month, me and Sister Salud were in our fave bar chilling. A White redneckish man walks up to her and says "Excuse me ma'am. I don't mean to be rude, but I've been trying to figure out your ethnicity all night." See, Sister Salud (the chick pouting in my Myspace profile picture) is Black and Italian. She's from the Debarge tribe of high yallers, not to be confused with the Al & Chris* tribe. Then he says "Are you....Eskimo?" I fucking fell out and died. I texted that one to everyone I know. Of course, Sister Salud decides to run with it. Yes, she was an Eskimo and I, part Eskimo. When he complimented her on her soft hands, she told him she uses an old Eskimo secret formula made from baby whale blubber to moisturize them. She also discussed with him the advancements the Eskimo people had made in time-travel, before letting him know we had to leave the bar because it was too hot, unlike the comforting coolness of our igloos. Blue Man Group Doing The Who
I have another long weekend (the third this month, I love this country!) so I thought I’d leave you with something I came across the other day. I’m a big fan of The Who and Baba O’Reilly, even though its from their later stuff, is one of my favourites.

Ordinarily you would find the daily news update in this spot around now. But I'm in transit from Los Angeles and can't get any internet access in the plane. Go figure.
Instead, I offer some expert views on Florida's education data system. That would be all the information it collects on kids and teachers within the public schools. Believe it or not, Florida is a model that other states look to in creating their own. Stanford University researcher Susanna Loeb called Florida the "poster child" during a presentation at the Education Writers Association convention. Janet Hansen of the Rand Corp. praised the state for the way it makes its data available to teachers, principals and superintendents so they can make good decisions about instruction.
In fact, Hansen noted, Florida is so far ahead that it has gotten Microsoft to create a set of programs called Sunshine Connections designed to make it even easier for educators to manage the data in ways that are meaningful for them. "Very c
