      Oh, Ye of Little Faith
Here's a cute story for you. This weekend the hubby was roofing a house with a friend, which meant he wasn't around in the mornings to fix breakfast for the kidlets. Every weekend my hubby makes pancakes for his boys - sometimes on Saturday and Sunday. Well, since he was gone both mornings before we even thought of getting out of bed, there were no pancakes to be found. Sunday morning I got up

So far in my thinking, I've discovered there are two basic parenting styles. Parent as ExpertIn the first parenting style, the parent is the expert. When the baby is born, her mind is like a blank slate without any rules for understanding the world around her. The parent, in contrast, knows the rules from experience and can train the child to behave appropriately.Someone who uses this parenting style might train his child to take scheduled naps throughout the day because he knows naps are an appropriate behavior for a baby. The baby doesn't know this is an appropriate behavior, but the parent does, and feels it's his responsibility to train his child to take her naps. Baby as ExpertIn the second parenting style, the baby is the expert. When the baby is born, the parent focuses on learning how to listen to his baby's cues, trusting the baby will "tell" him when she needs something, like a nap or a diaper change or something to eat.Someone using this parenting style might only p

      Me of Little Faith
The truth is that I have been a lazy mother in denial. The Rooster is sick.In fact, she is really sick and all week I have been dragging her to daycare and her teachers have been indulgent.Today she got sent home. She was so pathetic that I felt the full weight of my neglect and denial.I, Shitty Mom.She has the croup, an infection of her vocal chords that involves a cough that sounds like it hurts a lot.The Rooster gags and coughs at the same time and, when she catches her breath, sobs from the pain. She is puny. After her nap today, I loaded up the double jogger stroller and headed back to the daycare center to pick up The Mayor. When we arrived all the kids from The Rooster's class were out in the play yard. When we wheeled the stroller through the gate Rooster's classmates surrounded her.Twelve little, toddler hands pressed gently against her chest and six small voices chanted her name. They were six tiny faith healers at work.Maybe she'll absorb their good energy and be well tomorrow.

      have a little faith
The most amazing part of life is who you share it with. Tonight I was literally surrounded by amazing friends. One friend I've known since junior high, one I've known since college, and one I've known since before she was born. The last two are my sister's best friends. And have become mine. They are both like family to me. It hit me as I was sipping Insatiable out of a red party cup, eating

do you know the song have a little faith in me by the goddess that is chaka khan?! great tune. download it from itunes.I gotta stay up until midnight. I think we all agree that masturbation is a risk. either it puts a girl right out or keeps her up. while it's true that the monkey toting tard is a hot fantasy, I lost my meat for the week in the move. not sure where it is. it has new batteries and it was as clean as a whistle, so hopefully some horny homeless bird or man muffin found it and is bouncing through the alleys.the hallway hussies are back on stoop patrol. apparently they've decided to call their smoking / dish sessions, lessons. shall we venture a guess? they don't curse or discuss sex. I know this because I ran into them one afternoon while one of the hh's was in the middle of spinning her blind date yarn. when she said he was self absorbed. I said, you know you're date really sucks ass when your vibrator is seemingly more articulate and engaging, right?! three single d
