Sourav dada retired from Indian cricket on 10 November after India won the Test series. We spoke to Bollywood celebs about their favourite innings of Ganguly. Arjan BajwaI don’t really have a particular favourite innings. I remember him taking off his shirt on the field because he has done that many times. His career has been embroiled in controversies but it is commendable how he has dealt
While walking out of the Trop with a split was more than the Sox could hope for, as Tampa Bay has dominated them there, (They only won 1 game, started by Daisuke no less) I was more surprised that the win came at the hands of a brilliant 7 inning scoreless outing by Daisuke (although [...]
It’s pretty obvious there’s something wrong with Josh Beckett. His fastballs were 92-93 MPH, four miles off his normal speed. He lasted 4 1/3 innings giving up nine hits, eight runs, one walk, and five strikeouts. Three of the hits were home runs.
Tampa Rays Scott Kazmir was no better giving up five runs in 4 [...]
Since I had no expectations that the Sox would get this far, beating the Angels not once but TWICE in their house, I really cannot be too upset about last night’s loss.
Yes, Josh Beckett struggled a TON, barely getting out of the 5th, and throwing 106 pitches, 59 for strikes, and giving up 4 runs on [...]
Just some random thoughts as we wait until Wednesday IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT to start the ALDS vs the Angels (10:07pm–Yeah, that is good way to start the postseason….)
I know, I know, this weekend meant nothing in the grand scheme of things–But Friday night’s game was a HUGE disappointment. David Pauley did OK–nothing [...]
It all helps. Tonight's game was a crazy one.-(Deep Breath)-The Bucs scored in the first after a Nyjer hustle double. They tacked on another in the 3rd (both runs via Doumit RBI singles). The Dodgers scored 4 off Duke in the 4th, two of them thanks to a 2-out walk to the pitcher. Adam LaRoche hit a solo shot to make it 4-3. The score stayed 4-3 until the 5th, when with two outs and nobody one, thr
I stayed up until Mike Timlin came into the game, and then knowing EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN, I went to bed. And I awake this morning, and I look at the scores and see that Mike Timlin, who is tied with Kent Tekulve for the most relief appearances ever by a right hander with 1,050, [...]

The American League extended its unbeaten streak to 12 years with a 4-3, 15-inning triumph over the National League in the 79th Major League All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium. Rangers shortstop Michael Young hit a sac-fly off the Phillies' Brad Lidge to score Twins first baseman Justin Morneau with the winning run. The 15-inning game matched the National League's 2-1 win in Anaheim in 1967 for the
For the second night in a row, the Orioles once again had another come-from-behind victory as they beat Houston, 2-1, in the ten innings. Kevin Millar poked a base hit up the middle off of Houston closer Jose Valverde in the 10th inning to drive in Adam Jones and send the crowed at Oriole Park at Camden Yards rocking home. The Orioles were buoyed by Luke Scott's homer in the seventh inning that tie
David Wright singled in the tying run in the ninth and Damion Easley homered in the 10th to lift the Mets to a 5-4 win over the Angels in Anaheim. Jose Reyes had three hits, a stolen base and scored three times for the Mets. Duand
Adam LaRoche singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning as the Pirates edged the Orioles, 5-4, to salvage the finale of a three-game Interleague set at Camden Yards. Matt Capps blew the save by giving up a two-run homer to Brian Roberts
Andrew Symonds’ innings of 79 for Australia set up an enthralling final day in the first Test against West Indies at Jamaica, saving the world champions from potential embarrassment. Babylona ruled the roost on Tamil screen for some time before disappearing from the scene suddenly. This buxom sex bomb is quite popular among a section of the audience. She also looks somewhat a bit like Ramya Sri.While the younger item girls like Ramya Sri and the latest bombshell Mumaith Khan are the current heart throbs, Babyona has shown that she has not lost her charm or oomph. She was spotted after a long gap in the film Donga Sacchinolu. In this age when even heroines like Charmy are doing item numbers, it would be indeed tough for someone of Babylona's age to bag roles in films, but she is pulling all strings and using her contacts in the industry to make a come back. Asdrubal Cabrera singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 11th as the Indians nipped the Mariners 3-2 at Progressive Field. Cabrera also scored in the bottom of the 10th after Richie Sexson gave the M's the lead in the top half of the frame with a solo homer. Travis Hafner returned to the lineup with two doubles and an RBI for the Tribe, who won the final two games of the three-game set. Masa Kobayashi pitched two innings of relief to get the win. Ichiro scored to tie the game in the top of the ninth and force extra innings. J.J. Putz suffered a blown save, while Mark Lowe was saddled with the loss.

Last season, Florida Marlins starting pitcher Scott Olsen had a terrible year, going 10-15 with a 5.81 ERA (awfully high for an National League starting pitcher). This season, he has reverted somewhat to his old self; in Sunday's game, Olsen pitched 7 strong innings, leading Florida to a 6-1 victory over the Washington Nationals at Dolphin Stadium. Florida was led by Hanley Ramirez as he went 2-for-5 with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs while Dan Uggla and Jorge Cantu also added 2 hits apiece - with Cantu hitting 2 doubles. The winning pitcher was the aforementioned Olsen (3-0) as he pitched 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits, an earned run, walking 2 while striking out 3. Washington was led by Austin Kearns who went 1-for-4 with a HR, a run scored and an RBI. Luis Ayala (0-1) took the

McCullum takes Kolkata Knight Riders to 222 for 3Brendon McCullum hit a blazing 73-ball unbeaten knock of 158 to guide Kolkata Knight Riders to a massive 222 against Bangalore Royal Challengers in the lung opener of the Indian Premier League here on Friday.McCullum went berserk right from the word go as he hit Zaheer Khan for 18 runs in the second over of the innings after being put in to bat by hosts skipper Rahul Dravid at Chinnaswamy stadium. The Kiwi player then hit a towering long-off six off Ashley Noffke to bring up the 50 for Knight Riders in just four overs. The wicket-keeper batsman was difficult to contain as he showed no mercy and hit all the bowlers all around the park.McCullum's scintillating innings was studded with 13 sixes and 10 boundaries.Zaheer Khan drew the first blood f
The Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates were involved in what can be described as a wild affair - 15 innings, to be exact; fortunately for Chicago, the game came to a merciful end as Felix Pie's two-run single in the 15th inning allowed the Cubs to escape from PNC Park with the 6-4 win Wednesday. Chicago was led by Aramis Ramirez, going 3-for-7 with a double, a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs while Reed Johnson went 2-for-3 with an RBI; Alfonso Soriano went 2-for-6 with 2 walks. Kevin Hart (2-0) got the win, pitching 2 innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 earned runs while striking out 1; Sean Marshall, recalled earlier from Triple-A Iowa, notched his first save.Pittsburgh was led by Jason Bay, going 3-for-5 with a HR, 2 runs scored and an RBI; Adam LaRoche also homered for the Pirates. The Pittsburgh Pirates, without a doubt, were looking to make a successful home debut against the Chicago Cubs on Monday; however, the Pirates' relief corps failed them as Evan Meek gave up 5 walks and 2 key runs in the 12th inning, giving Chicago the win over Pittsburgh 10-8 in the Pirates' home opener at PNC Park. Kosuke Fukudome led the Cubs, going 3-for-5 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base while Geovany Soto went 3-of-7 with a double, 2 RBIs, a run scored; Derek Lee went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored while Ronny Cedeno went 1-for-5 with a double and 3 RBIs. Jon Lieber (1-1) got the win, going 3 scoreless innings while Carlos Marmol notched his first save with a scoreless 12th.Pittsburgh was led by Nate McLouth who went 3-for-6 with a triple, 2 RBIs while Jose Bautista

Xavier Nady singled home a run in the top of the 10th inning to lift the Pirates to a 4-3 win over the Braves at Turner Field. Freddy Sanchez, Ronny Paulino and Jack Wilson each plated a run for Pittsburgh, which took two-of-three in the season-opening series. Wilson had to leave the game in the seventh due to a strained calf muscle. Tyler Yates pitched a scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win, and Matt Capps closed things out for his first save. Mike Hampton was scheduled to start on the mound for the Braves, but was a late scratch because of a strained left pectoral muscle. Jeff Bennett started in Hampton's place and allowed two runs over four frames. Chris Resop was charged with the loss. Chipper Jones had three hits and a run scored for Atlanta, which slipped to 1-and-3 o
I'll do what I can tonight, but for now I'm going to do my best for some form of a liveblog(for now, at least).--Feel free to comment with any and all of your thoughts as the game unfolds.---PREGAME---Wow. It's raining in Atlanta and nobody is in the Turner Field stands. Looks emptier than a Pirate weekday home game at PNC (and that's saying something)--Also, the announcers are now telling me that Mike Hampton won't actually start. Apparently the Braves scratched him late and will start reliever Jeff Bennett. No word on the reason for that, but now we haven't figured out if the Bucs will change their lineup after the switch from a lefty to a righty.--Hampton's not pitching because of a "very sharp pain" he encountered while warming up. After a short delay, it looks like we're ready to go.

Johan Santana was brilliant in his first game as a Met, pitching seven innings while striking out eight, in a Mets 7-2 win over the Florida Marlins on Opening Day. Mets fans like me, of course, had dreams of the Mets' first-ever perfect no-hitter, as Santana retired the first nine batters he faced. Of course, it didn't happen — and it may never happen — but the Mets were definitely sharp in their first game of the season. Click here for a full recap from ESPN.
The 2008 Major League Baseball season has already kicked off, with Boston and Oakland playing two games in Japan to get things started. If you are a true fan of America’s pastime, there is nothing better than the MLB extra innings package to follow all of the action in 2008.

How WEIRD is it that the Sox are finished with today’s baseball–even with extra innings–before 10:00am…strange….At least they won…not that it was a pretty win…Daisuke was not super, going 5 throwing 95 pitches–only 51 for strikes, and giving up 2 runs on 2 hits (including 1 homers) while walking 5 and striking out 6…Could have [...]

Good morning to all of you and we are beginning another week of activity but this week will be a short week as tuesday is a market holiday for Christmas. Thursday will be the settlement for this month F & O and so we have only 3 days for the settlement. There will be lot of volatility due to rollover positions being high and at the same time there are lot of shorts built up. We will see gap up opening as shorts are covered on opening but again we see rollover positions bringing down the market. Those who want to gain in our market need to have two things which are a must. One is discipline and other is patience. If you lack either of these, you may not gain but instead loose your money. There are many other factors like greed and fear but all these are part of the above two. Most of the investors attitude is to make some quick money but the real gainers will be those who have invested in a disciplined manner and also have enough patience to reap rewards.Just to give an example : When

On Sunday, the Orioles played hard; however, they lost to the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2, in the bottom of the tenth inning thanks to a Aaron Hill sacrifice fly.The match-up yesterday had our own Jeremy Guthrie take on one of the best hurlers in the game, Roy Halladay.Guthrie pitched 8 strong innings, and only gave up two runs on three hits. He walked none while striking out 6; meanwhile, perennial Cy Young candidate Halladay went nine innings, also gave up two runs on six hits and struck out five.Brian Roberts and Kevin Millar drove in runs for the Birds. The Orioles could have possibly rallied in the tenth inning, but J.R. FORMER West Indies bowler Ottis Gibson created a piece of history on Sunday when he took 10 wickets in an innings in an English county championship match. The 38-year-old veteran, playing for Durham, achieved the landmark by bowling out Hampshire for 115 in its first innings, finishing with figures of 10-47 off 17.3 overs. Durham had made 252 in its first innings of the match being played at Chester-le-Street. Gibson, who becomes the 79th bowler in first-class cricket history to achieve the feat, is the first since Debasish Mohanty in 2000-2001, and first in county cricket since Richard Johnson took 10-45 for Middlesex in 1994. He reached the mark when he bowled James Bruce for a first-ball duck. "I'm as pleased as punch, it was my day today. I knew I had to bowl well early on and everything just clicked into place,'' said Gibson, who is playing for his third English county side. "It was definitely one of my more disciplined innings and it's nice to put in a p
Orioles and Nationals - Pictures Game TwoAnyhow, here are pictures of the game from Saturday night in RFK. Sorry for the delay, I have been occupied with other stuff today, but I will have a report up before the night and all is out.
Nearly a week after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left fibula last week, Joe Mauer caught for three pain-free innings on Wednesday and went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. It's unclear whether Mauer's injury will shift him to designated hitter a few times a month or not, though it's an encouraging sign that he can get behind the plate. The plan is for Mauer to take part in another Minor League game Thursday. Source: MLB.com
Adam Loewen allowed four hits, walked two and fanned five over five scoreless innings Wednesday, lowering his Spring Training ERA to 1.38. Loewen’s biggest problem last year was command, though he’s made some strides in that department with five walks allowed over 13 innings this spring. The soon-to-be 24-year-old will likely experience more growing pains this year, but it will be tough to ignore his potential in AL-only formats. Source: MLB.com
Clay Hensley is healthy again, and pitching well, too. The San Diego Padres' right-hander faced one batter over the minimum in five innings to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 on Wednesday. It was his second start back after a bout with the flu. Hensley, the Padres' No. 3 starter, missed his scheduled start on March 11. After walking three hitters in a start last Friday against the Texas Rangers, Hensley walked none and struck out six. He has a 1.38 ERA after four starts. Source: SanDiego.com
Delivering his finest start since signing on with the Orioles in mid-February, Steve Trachsel yielded just two hits over six scoreless innings Thursday. The outing gave the 36-year-old right-hander his first win of Spring Training. True, Trachsel appears to have secured a spot in Baltimore's rotation. But AL-only managers under the belief that his 15 wins will be repeated in the mighty American League East this season would be wise to consider the following: Among starters who pitched at least 160 innings last year, Trachsel received a whopping 6.61 runs per nine innings from a powerful Mets lineup -- fourth in the Majors. To further emphasize the point, his 4.97 ERA ranked worst among all 15-game winners. Stay away.
Ian Snell was sharp, tossing five scoreless innings for the Pirates on Monday. Snell allowed four hits, struck out five and walked two. He hasn't allowed a run in his last three appearances, spanning 11 innings. "The biggest difference for me this spring is I'm mixing up my pitches more and trying to mess with guys' heads a little more," Snell said. "Last year, I felt I relied on my fastball a little too much. I've changed things up a little bit and have kind of a new look." Snell is slated to be Pittsburgh's No. 2 starter behind Zach Duke. The 25-year-old right-hander was 14-11 last year with a 4.74 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. In 32 games started, he threw 186 innings and racked up 169 K's.Source: AP
Brett Myers tossed six-plus strong innings, but the Tampa Bay Devil Rays rallied against Philadelphia's bullpen for a 5-4 victory in a split-squad game Sunday. Myers gave up an unearned run, two hits and fanned seven. Myers still hasn't been given the nod by Phillies manager Charlie Manuel to start Opening Day. If Myers doesn't get the assignment, it most likely would go to Freddy Garcia, acquired in a trade with the Chicago White Sox in the offseason. Myers, who signed a $25.75 million, three-year contract last month, went 12-7 with a 3.91 ERA in 31 starts last season. He led the Phillies in wins, ERA, starts, innings (198), strikeouts (189), winning percentage (.632) and opponents' batting average (.257). Myers is 1-0 with a 3.09 ERA and 13 strikeouts through 11 2/3 spring innings. He will be one of the top 25 starters off the board on Draft Day. We expect him to have his best season yet.Source: CBS SportsLine.com
