Advertisements placed by Google in Web pages are being hijacked by so-called trojan software that replaces the intended text with ads from a different provider. The trojan redirects queries meant to be sent to Google servers to a rogue server, which displays ads from a third party instead of ads from Google. The trojan, named after the mythic Trojan Horse because of its ability to enter computer systems undetected, attacks Google's AdSense service, which targets advertisements to match Web page content. The malware removal process is pretty simple as mentioned belowSimply remove the entries in your hosts file that start contain pagead2 .googlesyndication.comJust keep the entry for 127.0.0.1 localhost in your hosts file and then you have successfully removed the malware affected AdSense Ads.
As useful as it may seem, AutoRun can get you in a lot of trouble. It is helpful when a new disc is inserted or you plug in a flash drive, automatically launching installers, but this can pose a serious risk for your computer's security. If you do not know in advance what data is stored on a disc or on a USB key, chances are your computer may get infected. Here's how it all works. In both Vista and XP AutoPlay it is enabled by default. The moment you insert a disc, AutoPlay will automatically prompt you for an action. But, if it has an autorun.inf file at the root, Windows will execute all the commands included in that file. This file generally contains instructions for launching an installer, splash screen or another file of some sort. The same happens with USB flashdrives. The moment they

When an ingrown hair becomes infected it becomes an itchy oozing mess. The ingrown hair becomes inflamed and a pustule forms causing discomfort and embarrassment. You can get rid of your ingrown hair problem before it gets any worse. An ingrown hair can form anywhere we shave. The hair is usually cut too short, it then starts to grow back into the side of the hair follicle. It's now an angry red bump that can drive you to distraction. If it becomes irritated or inflamed with bacteria you get an infected ingrown hair. You can get rid of an infected ingrown hair by following these simple steps.First, make sure the area around the ingrown hair is clean, wash or bathe, so you won't re-infect the area. Bacteria is always present on your skin.Second, use a clean wash cloth, and soak it in almost hot water. Apply the wash cloth to the area for a few minutes to moisten the skin and loosen the ingrown hair. Heat and moisture will usually cause the hair to rise to the surface. Check to see if th

Kitchen sinks are dirtier than most bathrooms. There are typically more than 500,000 bacteria per square inch in the drain.

U.S. safety officials have recalled more than 4 million of the popular Chinese-made Aqua Dots bead toys. The toy's coating contains a chemical that, when swallowed, converts into the toxic drug GHB, or gamma-hydroxy butyrate. At high doses, GHB can cause comas, seizures, and hypotonia, a condition in which all muscles become very flaccid. It has gained notoriety in recent decades from its use as a “date rape” drug. The toys, aimed at children 4 years and older, have been selling in the U.S. retail as "Aqua Dots" and in Australia as "Bindeez Beads."The toy was named toy of the year in Australia, and recently made Wal-Mart's list of top 12 Christmas toys.Visit Dr. Mercola's website for more information.
Internet Explorer and Firefox are in a constant race for both the lion’s share of the browser market and for the top dog position when it comes down to which of the two products is more locked down from a security perspective. In terms of audience Internet Explorer has little contest from Firefox, although the open source browser has increased substantially its foothold on the market growing its share to approximately 15% at the end of October 2007, according to data from Net Applications. In contrast, IE accounts for the largest install base with 78%.
Security is a different matter altogether and a tad more difficult to measure up. The fact of
the matter is that the end goal of delivering top user protection is a combination of code quality and lack of vulnerabilities in the default design, along with an absent threat environment. (more…)

Thanks to the neocons currently running the American government and the constant stream of idiocy from their Christian extremist base, it is easy to understand how the international community views America. And yet, we are far from alone in the degree to which ancient religions exert an unwanted influence on modern politics. I'm looking at you, Canada. In a recent column in HumanistNetworkNews, Doug Thomas suggests that Elections Canada, the governmental agency which oversees elections in Canada, is "'infected' with Theism." Thomas' column discusses how religious groups influence elections in Canada, drawing on the recent example of a decision not to require Muslim women to remove their veils when voting for the purpose of voter identification. Was the exemption made in response to protests from the Muslim community? Apparently not. Some Muslim leaders have pointed out that women who chose to keep their faces covered would have no objection to showing their face to a female election o

A tooth abscess or root abscess is pus enclosed in the tissues of the jaw bone at the tip of an infected tooth. An Overview of Ethical & Legal Implications of Treating HIV-Infected Dental Patients The Ethics of Dental CareDental Management of the HIV-Infected Patient: An IntroductionBy James CominskyThe human immunodeficiency virus, better known as HIV, is the retrovirus that is known to cause acquired immune deficiency syndrome also known as AIDS. Throughout the history of disease research, HIV is still considered relatively new to scientists. Although strong advances have been recognized towards a cure, the disease is still incurable, contagious, and deadly. Health care providers are continuously exposed to a higher potential of disease transmission due to the nature of their work. Dental professionals work in an environment of needles and bloody aerosols which add to the potential of transmitting the virus. Being in an environment that is associated with disease prevention poses a serious question; how can dental professionals manage the health care treatment of the HIV-infected patient? The A

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The FBI is in the process of locating and notifying the users of one million computers controlled by hackers through automated crime networks or “botnets,” officials said Friday.

Authorities announced this week three arrests in separate schemes to infect computers to allow them to be remotely controlled by malicious software, usually sent by spam e-mail.
FBI special agent Richard Kolko said “the vast majority” of the million computers were in the United States but added that “it’s a global problem” and the US authorities have worked with partners from as many as 60 countries in the investigations.
“The majority of victims are not even aware that their computer has been compromised or their personal information exploited,” said FBI assistant director for the cyber division James Finch in a statement.

Recently I came across an article on Psysorg detailing an experiment conducted by Didier Stevens who works for Contraste Europe, a branch of the IT consultancy. Stevens did an experiment to find out how easy it is to land on a drive-by download site when doing a Google search. Drive-by download sites typically infect users PC's with spy ware and viruses.
In his experiment Stevens signed up for a Google Adwords campaign for six months now and has received 409 hits on his ad, which read:
The experiment cost him in total $23, or 6 cents per click/potentially infected machine. That may not sound like much but for every PC infected with a SPAM bot or spy ware, you add another node to your bot network :) that can blissfully send your SPAM, without you having to pay for bandwidth or servers to send it otherwise.
Of the 409 people who clicked, 98 percent were running Windows machines, according to the user agent string, which is a text string that identifies a Web site visitor to a serv

Who would have thought that such a small little boo boo on my pinky finger would cause such trouble? This little gouge is from an exposed wood beam in the addition wall. (We didn't put up sheet rock on the exterior inner walls, only plywood, and the inner walls we left uninsulated so the studs are exposed.)I was cleaning the boys' room when this happened and I guess I didn't clean and cover it quick enough. I finally did when I discovered redness around the wound growing along with pain.Seven to ten days later, no topical antibiotics had worked including Neosporin, erythromycin, and mupiricin. I made an appointment to see the doctor. I felt stupid taking the forty minute drive just to show him my finger, but as soon as I hung up the phone with the office, I felt inner peace that I had done the right thing.Once at the office, I learned I sported a fever. That explained why I had felt so crummy the past two days. (Also why I made no posts.) That little wound on my pinky had affected m
