Taking those dollars where they will go farther? Why would people who seem to dislike and disdain Hispanic immigrants and the Hispanic culture so much want to immigrate to a Hispanic country? It's hard to figure. From what little I read of US news, there seems to be a strong anti-immigrant, anti-Hispanic trend in the U.S. to the point of hatred in some cases.I spend more of my time learning about Honduras, since that is where I live, but my Google News Alerts about Honduras often include articles about immigration. There seems to be such anger among U.S. Americans. I can understand how the war, crime and drugs, and the economy could sour viewpoints, but the anger and hatred are a little mind boggling and spill over on legal immigrants as well.Oddly, some of those who yell the loudest about '
Whether the reactions have been those of praise, criticism or simple shock, for the last five years the name F.I.L.T.H.E.E. IMMIGRANTS has been raising many eyebrows and generating curiosity worldwide. Most of the intrigue has stemmed from the acronym F.I.L.T.H.E.E. witch stands for " Forever In Love Thanking Highest Eternal Existence". This acronym highlights the group’s spirituality as the forefront of their motivation. The word "Immigrants" represents the group’s social/political forum and the struggle of any person or group working to make life better for themselves and future generations. One of the most amazing aspects of the group has to be their uncanny ability to network and move within circles that average Hip Hop artists are not often found. This may stem from the fact that t

A multiracial bus queue in Slough, Berkshire.Guardian photograph by Karen Robinson Here's an article from The Guardian that indirectly takes to task a recently released report, which claimed that immigrants in the United Kingdom contribute little or nothing to the country's economy. It's a highly dubious claim since immigrants, contrary to the general perception, pay taxes and spend their money just like everyone else and keep businesses thriving and the economy chugging along. David Rose's report on the town of Slough reminds me of a small town in New Jersey that passed an ordinance banning landlords from renting apartments and houses to undocumented immigrants. The result was that immigrants left the town in droves and many small businesses were shuttered because they no longer had c

As the debate over immigration rages on and on, it is clear that many Hispanics, including those here legally, and advocate groups such as La Raza and the ACLU who work on behalf of illegal aliens, need to understand and accept the following essential truths about America:
Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates, in a hearing Wednesday before members of Congress, pledged for more flexibility in employing foreign specialists. Currently, our country has an annual quota of 65,000 temporary H-1B visas for skilled workers and 20,000 for foreign students."It makes no sense to educate people in our universities, often subsidized by U.S. taxpayers, and then insist they return home," Gates told the House of Representatives Science and Technology Committee during a two-hour hearing, CNET reports. Instead, H-1B visas and green cards should be issued for those who are found useful to the United States economy.Gates said that there are not enough scientists and computer specialists in the United States to fill demand. HAMILTON - After three Butler County car dealerships were accused of selling fake IDs to help illegal immigrants buy cars, a state lawmaker is planning legislation that would add another step to block them from getting temporary license tags or registrations.
“I can’t stop you from buying a car. I think that would be unconstitutional. You have a right to buy anything you want, as long as you have the money. But what I can do is stop you from obtaining a tag or license to put on that car,” said state Rep. Courtney Combs, R-Fairfield.
Combs said Friday that his office has asked the Ohio Legislative Services Commission to research and draft a proposal that would require vehicle purchasers to prove U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status before obtaining a temporary tag

This is unbelievable, well, actually it is the ACLU so no, it’s not so unbelievable. The ACLU is claiming a person should not be denied a visa to come to the United States to protest the war because of the freedom of speech.
The First Amendment right to freedom of speech should be interpreted as preventing the U.S. government from denying a visa to a foreign critic of U.S. war-time policy who has been invited to speak here, even when national security concerns are cited, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is claiming in a federal lawsuit.
Now forgive me for asking a stupid question here, but doesn’t the freedom of speech, guaranteed in the UNITED STATES constitution only apply to Americans? Don’t you have to actually be a citizen of the United States to be afforded the protections of the constitution?

Dad didn’t learn much English until he went to public school. Like former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, the language of my father’s home and his close-knit neighborhood was his parents’ regional Italian dialect. By the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor, his English was as good as that of any American teenager. It was plenty good enough for him to serve in World War II, survive the major battles of the Pacific theater and return home to build a career as a municipal housing specialist. At home we learned a few slang expressions, but my father balk
Cracks are already appearing between Singaporeans and the new settlers who have come as permanent residents, not just between different ethnic groups, but also within races. Ill feeling towards foreigners is beginning to surface in this most unlikely of places - cosmopolitan Singapore - attributed to the record influx of immigrants. By tradition, Singaporeans with their own migrant history have been open about foreigners from east or west, which has led to a recent mass arrival of settlers and visitors. More than a million have arrived, mostly during the past decade, and although they have brightened the economy, they are also starting to incur a social cost as well as increasingly sparking friction with locals. Despite land reclamation, Singapore remains a small city, one of the densest in the world. The pressure is testing the tolerance level of Singaporeans, who are struggling to cope with a widening income gap and rising prices. Already one third of the 4.68 million people

Illegal immigrants set up new camp in French port next to UK-bound ferries
Hundreds of illegal migrants have set up a new makeshift camp just a stroll away from the ferries they hope will carry them to a new life in Britain.
The extraordinary new shanty town is, literally, on the edge of Cherbourg Port, in northern France, where hundreds of refugees play a nightly game of cat-and-mouse with the police as they try to get aboard UK-bound passenger and container ships.
It is attracting so many new arrivals that locals fear it is just a matter of time before an official shelter would have to be set up, like the former, infamous Red Cross camp in Sangatte. Continued

This statement by Hillary surprises me more than a little bit. If true it shows an actual grasp of what a backbreaking nightmare giving health care to the poor of the entire hemisphere would be. However, the question I still ask you and myself should be is she telling the truth. Is this her real thoughts on the issue or is it just a carefully scripted stealth appeal to centrists and the right? Why do illegal immigrants insist on claiming that U.S. citizens are being racist? Do they even understand what racism is all about? Does the media? For the love of pete -- Racism -- is racially based hatred, oppression or bigotry. It can be systematic or individual. Hispanics are not a race. Latinos are not a race. Illegals are not a race. I will say that some bigots are using the illegal debate to voice their leanings but the debate in our country is not about race because Latino's and hispanics aren't one. They are however, law breakers any way you slice it and 12+ million law breakers tend not to go unnoticed.
Every time I write about immigration I permanently lose readers. This issue truly brings out passion—and hate. But if I do it often enough I can retire and become a blogger emeritus.Just the same—I don't get it.I am willing to bet a tight vagina that illegal immigration does not affect most Americans in any way.The primary concern seems to be that these people are criminals.First of all, most undocumented workers are not criminals. They entered the country under a visa, and overstayed their welcome. Under the US Code this is a civil matter—not criminal. In the hierarchy of criminal law it belongs right up there with a speeding citation. Now those who have entered the country without going through a border inspection have committed a crime. This would be a misdemeanor. And one I feel is much less serious than drunk driving—or even doing a tap dance in a public rest room. But we constantly have Bill O'Reilly and Lou Dobbs sounding the alarm on how much crime these criminal i

Immigrants– illegal ones– don’t pay taxes. They work off the books, freeload off our health care system, take from welfare, benefit from our legal system and infrastructure, and don’t pay for any of it.
Right?
Let’s think about taxes.
I go to work. Twice a month, let’s say, I get paid. My check doesn’t match the number of hours I worked times my pay per hour. Taxes calculated by my employer and are withheld. No surprise there, at least not to anyone working in the United States. Of course, I work legally. I’m a citizen. Obviously, this wouldn’t be the case if a person were working illegally. Someone working illegally would be paid ‘under the table’ and so would effectively cheat the tax system. Right?
Well… what happens to that ‘under the table’ money? What happens if I hire illegal workers, keep no records, and pay them cash? They pay no taxes, true, but I do. If I pay someone legally, I don’t
In what I have to call the most traitorous move I have yet seen in the war on illegal aliens the city of New Haven Connecticut is legitimizing and encouraging further criminal activities by giving them city identification cards in order to access city services. They say they are doing this in the name of safety but lets be honest thats it is nothing more than furthering the liberal cause of pandering to the illegal alien (and future Democrat voter) constituency. Other cities have tried similar hare brained schemes such as declaring themselves sanctuary cities for the homeless and guess what...they were soon swamped with homeless as word spread and they showed up from all over the country. Santa Monica and San Francisco here in California have pulled such stunts and came to regret it. Here in the United States, and in many other nations as well, it is difficult to avoid the debate over immigration and immigration reform. I have, however, mostly avoided posting on the topic. The term shows up in a few posts, true, but mostly it is peripheral.
Among the issues related to immigration are health care costs, public service costs, and immigration’s effect on such things as tax revenue, jobs, business, and crime. This latter particularly grates at me.
I realize that it simply isn’t possible to have unrestricted borders, however ideologically appealing that might be to some. Still, the argument from crime annoys me. It annoys me because this is not my experience with immigrants. My experience, while not conclusive in any sense, is much the opposite. My experience is that immigrants are ridiculously hard workers. I wouldn’t even enter that contest. This, obviously, might mean that there is something to arguments revolving around jobs and business. It does
Trouble is, John McCain does not seem to understand that:“America is still the land of opportunity,” Senator John McCain recently said. “And we’re not going to erect barriers and fences.”Unlucky us.Along with Massachusetts Democrat Ted Kennedy, the Arizona Republican cosponsored immigration legislation currently crawling through the Senate. McCain should recognize that without a barrier or fence, the U.S./Mexican frontier will continue to welcome Islamic extremists pledged to America’s doom. One more reason why not to support McCain for president. As this report (in PDF format) by the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Investigations from January tells, Hezbollah terrorists have already infiltrated the southern border. If they could penetrate, so could others. That's exactly why the fence needs to be built.Hat tip: Molten Thought.

A article found on iol.co.za has a look at a alternative look at the booming south African ecomomy Source (iol.co.za) As long as South Africa's economy continues to boom, immigrants from neighbouring states would continue to flood the country, Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said on Thursday.Addressing MPs during her budget vote debate, Mapisa-Nqakula said economic migration was an international phenomenon confronting every region of the globe."There is not a country in the world which does not face an influx from its neighbours if it is economically more stable."It is logical that our economy would be a magnet for economic migrants from the region," she said.Mapisa-Nqakula, who was speaking against the backdrop of mounting concerns on the growing number of refugees in the country, particularly Zimbabwean citizens, reminded MPs about the important role played by migrant workers in the development of the country's economy. While Congress and the White House remain divided over what to do with the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants now living in the United States, a new poll shows the American public appears to have reached a consensus on the question. A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken last weekend of 1,007 people found that 78 percent of respondents feel people now in the country illegally should be given a chance at citizenship. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Disagreements about the fate of the nation's illegal residents were a major factor in the deadlock that kept Congress from enacting an immigration bill last year, despite the support of key Democratic and Republican leaders, as well as President Bush. The president and members of his Cabinet, including Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, have said it would be prohibitively expensive to deport all the nation's illegal residents. But many conservatives strongly oppose putting illegal immigrants on a
IDAHO CITY — Fourteen illegal immigrants were arrested and face deportation after being picked up at an Idaho City hotel.
It happened late Tuesday night and now they’re in the Ada County Jail.
The men were working for a contracted employee of the U.S. Forest Service.
They had been working for about 10 days, with one week left.
According to the Forest Service, the contracted employer is Cutting Edge Forestry Inc. out of Talent, Oregon.
The contractor is required to turn over paperwork regarding their employees and then the Forest Service sends that paperwork to the immigration office.
It’s there that officials realized the men were in the country illegally.

The Senate is on the verge of passing a bill that has been written in secret and has not even be read which provides total amnesty for 12 million (if you are to believe official figures) illegal aliens already inside the US, allows them to bring in their entire families from outside and ultimately paves the way for foreign occupation of the United States. The immigration reform bill, which has been hailed by President Bush, has been denounced by many commentators and Senators as total amnesty by stealth. It has been drafted in total secrecy with the help of liberal think tanks and Latino national interest groups such as the National Council of La Raza and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, which as the Washington Post reported now have virtual veto power in the immigration debate. Some of these groups are notoriously racist and have openly called for revolution .

MIAMI — Either by chance or by design, a growing number of Venezuelans — more than 2,000 since 2002 — are marrying Cuban refugees on the fast track for green cards, and drawing scrutiny from U.S. immigration officials.
The escalation coincides with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's increasing ties to Cuba's Fidel Castro, which have prompted thousands of Venezuelans to flee and then overstay their visas in the United States. In South Florida, attorneys say marriages between Cuban refugees and Venezuelan immigrants top the list of non-Cubans marrying Cubans, followed by Colombians and Mexicans.
For undocumented immigrants, marrying a Cuban with a green card can be their ticket to staying in the United States — and even a better deal

BY DOUG WARDThe Vancouver Sun27 Apr 2007If you think Greater Vancouver is ethnically diverse now, wait until 2031, when about one out of two people in the region will have been born outside of Canada.
This is the region’s demographic future if current trends — strong immigration flows from Asia and a low Canadian birth rate — continue over the next two decades, according to a new Statistics
Here is the first of two press releases from Chuck Hagel's Senate office today:Hagel Introduces Legislation to Deal with Illegal Immigrants Living in the U.S.April 26th, 2007 - Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) today introduced “The Immigrant Accountability Act of 2007.” The legislation would create a merit-based point system to deal with those living in the country illegally. Those who receive enough points would be put on a pathway to earn citizenship after 13 years. Under Hagel’s bill, no person here illegally would be able to jump in line ahead of someone who has applied for citizenship legally.Hagel’s legislation is a compromise intended to be incorporated into the comprehensive immigration reform legislation the Senate will consider in May. The legislation builds on previous immigration reform legislation introduced by Hagel in the last two Congresses.“It is not in our interest to have 12 million people living here illegally. We must create a system in
One border state alone spent $700 million last year to medically treat illegal immigrants and a high-ranking hospital official says the toll is causing a meltdown of the state’s healthcare system. U.S. taxpayers have for years financed the exorbitant cost of medically treating illegal immigrants. In the last few years, it has transformed into a crisis that has forced many hospitals in borders states to actually close. This week, outraged California lawmakers provided details illustrating the situation’s severity as they fought a congressional proposal that would drastically cut federal reimbursement for the healthcare of illegal immigrants in their state. The mostly Democratic group said almost half of California hospitals are operating in the red and provided specific documentation of how the state’s 430 facilities spent $700 million to treat illegal immigrants in 2006. The burden is deeply affecting Americans who may need emergency or urgent medical care and mus
Today, authorities have identified the Virginia Tech shooter as a South Korean immigrant named Cho Seung-hui, a 23-year-old English major. No motive has yet been offered for his likely slaughter of 32 people before killing himself.Last February in Salt Lake City, a young Bosnian immigrant killed five mall shoppers before off-duty police killed him.How long before the radical anti-immigration crowd begins to agitate for tighter borders? And can otherwise undecided Americans be swayed by the notion that these senseless bloodbaths might have been avoided by a more exclusive immigration policy? It's unlikely the anti-immigration people will mention that just two weeks ago, a red-blooded, native-born American named Anthony LaCalamita allegedly burst into his former Detroit employer's office and shot three former co-workers, killing one. Most mass murderers in American history have been Americans born and bred -- Charles Whitman, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, Charlie Starkweather, Tim McVe
Here's a guy who works hard for a living. Palm Springs is a funny place. In fact the whole Coachella Valley is mute about immigration, at least to my recollection. We've got a slew of gardeners here who reseed (we have two types of grasses, and one requires scalping the surface to put rye seeds in to grow during winter); mow, clip, plant and all the rest. I say kudos to them, cause without them our Valley would look like so many other places in the United States--unkempt. We're lucky here cause of these people,Heck if I care if they're from Mexico. I like Mexico. I think a lot of the anti-immigrant talk is of the racist persuasion. Gee, that's awfully political for a daily photo blog.Poodle Springs for some, Palm Springs for others; come see the desert's best daily photo site on the net.
John Howard, Australian Prime Minister, said that anyone with HIV should not be able to migrate into Australia, and now the government is seeing if they can tighten existing restrictions.
Howard was asked in a radio interview if people with HIV, which is the virus that causes AIDS, should be able to come into Australia as refugees or migrates, and he responded by saying, “My initial reaction is no.”
These comments have sparked anger with workers that have HIV/AIDS, and are accusing Howard of trying to put the blame on the sufferers instead of the illness itself.
Howard also said in the interview that he thinks they “should have the most stringent possible conditions in relation to that nationwide, and I know the health minister is concerned about that and is examining ways of tightening things up.”
The Prime Minister was asked about this after the state health minister stated that out of 334 new HIV cases 70 of them were from immigrants who came to the country w
[Thousands March for Immigrant Rights]
“Some marchers waved U.S. flags, tooted plastic horns or tapped on drums. Even the Bus Riders Union was there, opposing a proposed increase in bus fares, carrying a yellow banner in English, Spanish and Korean.” [LATimes.com]
On Saturday April 7, 2007, thousands of Mexican immigrants marched down the streets of Los Angeles demanding amnesty from the president. (more…)
Have you ever noticed how the media leaves off the word "illegal" in "illegal immigrants" in their stories like this one? These people are just not very bright. Don't they realize that George Bush is their best friend for getting amnesty and US citizenship? Right now the presidents plan is disgusting enough even if it were enforced as drafted. But it won't be. Day by day any sort of enforcement will be gutted and quickly forgotten. At least right now the Bush administration isn't using the "A" word: Amnesty. If this passes they will quit even trying to hide their true agenda and will have the so called Border Patrol supplying illegals with limos at the border to deliver them to social service offices. The arrogance of the protesting illegals and activists both is incredible. Brazenly marching in downtown cities carrying Mexican flags and demanding citizenship. There have been two of these marches right here in the local area. One was 3 blocks from where

This article does not have much to do with finding any cheap plane tickets but I thought it was worth commenting on. Recently, travel agents charged in Arizona, have been found to be transporting Mexican immigrants into the U.S. through the use of travel agencies which fly from Mexico into Arizona or Las Vegas. This technique has become more popular for smugglers because of the added border security found in the southwest. The people that have been arrested had worked in cohesion with certain travel agencies to set up legitimate plane tickets from there to here. Air travel tickets are expensive as it is, can you imagine what it must cost the illegal immigrants to purchase a one-way into America. As always if anybody knows of any places to find discounted air fare give us your story.
